Jennifer Lopez confirms pregnancy

jueves, 8 de noviembre de 2007 |

After weeks of speculation, singer-actress Jennifer Lopez has confirmed that she is pregnant, People magazine reported on Thursday.

"Marc and I are expecting a baby," the 38-year-old performer told a concert audience in Miami on Wednesday night during the last stop on her joint North American tour with her husband, vocalist Marc Anthony.

After the announcement, Anthony shrugged his shoulders, caressed his wife's stomach, then leaned over and kissed her belly.

"I didn't know she was going to talk," he told the crowd.

The Miami show marked the last stop of Lopez's first concert tour.

"This is a special time in our lives," said New York-born Lopez, who has sold 17 million records worldwide and released six albums. "And we waited until the last show to tell you."

Lopez, who has been married three times, tied the knot with 39-year-old Anthony in 2004.

Fans of the singer started sending notes of congratulations to the star.

"Thanks for sharing with us your personal life. Congratulations!," wrote Glenda Santiago on Lopez's page on social networking site Facebook.

Britney Ordered to Pay the Legal Bills

miércoles, 7 de noviembre de 2007 |

The court commissioner who has been moderating the chaotic Britney Spears-Federline custody battle on Tuesday ordered the "Gimme Me" singer to cut K-Fed a $120,000 check for legal fees, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. (View the ruling.)

Federline's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, had petitioned for $160,000 on Oct. 10, stating that his client had paid $31,900 and was "in immediate and dire need of attorneys' fees." Kaplan said that the former backup dancer has about $726,000 in assets but that $125,000 is already earmarked for other bills.

"Even if a party has the ability to pay his or her own fees, a disparity in the parties' respective circumstances may itself demonstrate relative 'need,'" Commissioner Scott M. Gordon wrote in his decision.

That "disparity" referring to the fact that Spears' monthly income equals Federline's entire net worth, as revealed in financial documents made public last week.

According to Spears' camp, the pop star has shelled out $225,279 for her own custody-related legal bills. She has been giving her ex $35,000 a month in spousal and child support, the $20,000 spousal portion of which expires on Nov. 15.

Both sides' attorneys have seemingly been working overtime since Oct. 1, when Federline was granted full custody of two-year-old Sean Preston and year-old Jayden James. The doting dad was spotted by paparazzi earlier Tuesday giving his kids a kiss before they were chauffeured off to their mom's house for one of the twice-weekly monitored visits she's been granted.

Gordon noted in his ruling that that the "vast majority of the post-judgment litigation deals with [Spears'] conduct." Meaning, it's the 25-year-old songstress who has kept the counsel burning the midnight oil.

As for the part of Spears' life that least resembles the twilight zone these days, industry analysts are projecting that Blackout, her first studio album in four years, is going to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 on Wednesday after moving about 290,000 copies.

No charges for Diddy in club attack

|

Trouble-prone rapper Sean (Diddy) Combs dodged criminal charges for an alleged bathroom beatdown last month because the victim would not cooperate with prosecutors, officials said Tuesday.

Combs was initially accused of punching 31-year-old Steven Acevedo twice in the mouth last month in SoHo's swanky Kiosk club after trading insults over Acevedo's ex-girlfriend, who is dating the rapper.

During the alleged assault, Acevedo told cops, a member of Combs' entourage boasted, "We won't shoot you. You can even hold our guns," sources said.

No weapon was displayed, and no witnesses saw a gun, sources said.

Acevedo filed a police report, but yesterday Combs' lawyer said in a written statement prosecutors would not pursue the case.

Lawyer Benjamin Brafman commended police and prosecutors for a "thorough and very fair investigation ... and not allowing this private disagreement between two acquaintances to turn into a criminal charge."

Acevedo's lawyer, Mark Heller, confirmed his client was instrumental in halting the criminal proceedings.

"Steven Acevedo was definitely violated without legal provocation in the presence of witnesses," Heller said. "Had he chosen to vigorously pursue his rights, he surely would have prevailed in a court of law."

Officials said Acevedo would not cooperate with law enforcement and had given various versions of the event.

"For those reasons, we cannot prove any charges beyond a reasonable doubt," said Barbara Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney's office.

He's not yet divorced, but Paul McCartney reportedly has been squiring a married New York millionaire around the Hamptons.

The ex-Beatle and MTA board member Nancy Shevell were spotted numerous times over three days last weekend - sharing walks on the beach and even a tender kiss, the London Sun reported.

McCartney, 65, was also seen visiting the 47-year-old's London hotel room in October while he and estranged wife Heather Mills were battling over their divorce in court.

Shevell, 47, is a businesswoman who is married to Bruce Blakeman, a high-powered attorney who is a commissioner for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

She recently stopped using the last name of her hubby.

Shevell and Blakeman are said to be old friends of McCartney and his late wife, Linda. They have a teenage son.

They are a powerful society couple in both Manhattan and the Hamptons, and are both big donors to President George W. Bush.

Sir Paul and his lady friend did not appear to be hiding their relationship as they hopscotched around East Hampton last weekend. They've reportedly been out together about 6 times, but have never been so public about their liaison.

They had a dinner Friday night that lasted until 3 a.m. The next day, McCartney visited Shevell's mansion and later stopped by Top Drawer lingerie, the Sun said.

The two were seen outside a movie theater and then dined on sushi at Mount Fuji. They repaired to McCartney's estate, where she spent two hours before heading home.

Sunday began with breakfast at a cafe, followed by a drive in McCartney's pickup, and a stroll on the beach. They kissed "tenderly" before he dropped her off at her home, the paper reported.

But they didn't stay apart long. She soon jumped in her car and drove to his mansion where they stayed for several hours.

Britney Spears Probed For Foot Fault

lunes, 5 de noviembre de 2007 |

Britney Spears is currently under investigation after she allegedly ran over a deputy's foot following a court hearing.

The 25-year-old attended court on October 26 in an effort to obtain joint custody with ex Kevin Federline.

Video footage obtained by TMZ.com show the Toxic singer’s white Mercedes Benz crushing officer Stanley Mosk’s foot as she exited Los Angeles County Court.

Sheriff’s Department officials have since filed a collision complaint, and now the LAPD are actively investigating the incident.

"We are aware that Britney Spears was leaving the courthouse," said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman "We are also aware that a deputy was injured, but we're unable to confirm the details on the deputy's injury because the investigation is in its initial stage."

According to Officer Ana Aguirre the injured officer - who has been restricted to light duties as a result of the incident - suffered "minor to moderate" injuries.

She continued: "It's unknown if (Spears) was the driver."

This incident has added to the pop tart’s legal woes, with Spears' former manager suing her over unpaid commissions.

Johnny Wright – whose other high-profile clients include Justin Timberlake, the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC – alleges that Brit was supposed to pay commissions until February 2008 but stopped forking out to the Wright Entertainment Group in December 2006.
