A man has been arrested over the theft of a camera containing pictures of Prince William and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton, on holiday, it has been revealed.
The Sun newspaper reported that it was approached by two men trying to sell photos of the couple on the Caribbean island of Mustique.
Police were informed and a man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods, Scotland Yard confirmed.
A spokesman said: "A 25-year-old man was arrested at 9am on the morning of August 31 on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods.
"He was taken to a west London police station and bailed to return on a date in September."
The two men, who called themselves George and John, wanted £50,000 for the pictures, the newspaper reported.
The images included shots of William and Kate, both 26, in a swimming pool and with her family.
The camera is thought to have been stolen from Kate's younger sister, Pippa.
Clarence House refused to comment on the report and referred questions to Scotland Yard.
The Prince is currently on secondment within the Armed Forces as he learns about how they work.

Prince William Gets Wings As Kate Middleton Looks On
sábado, 12 de abril de 2008 Publicado por Shujel en 10:50 | Etiquetas: Prince WilliamPrince William was given his RAF wings yesterday, in front of his girlfriend Kate Middleton and step-mum Camilla.
His father, Prince Charles also attended the military ceremony - but as the UK's Air Chief Marshal he was there to actually present the badge of honour.
Middleton’s attendance was her first official engagement with the Prince since he graduated from Sandhurst officer college in December 2006, since which their relationship has subjected to intense speculation.
William, when asked whether he enjoyed his training course, answered, "Yes thanks, brilliant," whilst one of his fellow airmen paid tribute to his efforts/
Flight Lieutenant Simon Berry tells the Mirror, “He socialised with everyone. He was just a normal bloke and very sociable.
"He was working really hard, flying in the morning, coming down and doing two hours of flight school and then working all hours in the evenings like everyone else.”

Britain's Prince William tells of first flight nerves
viernes, 18 de enero de 2008 Publicado por Shujel en 9:30 | Etiquetas: Prince WilliamPrince William talked on Thursday about his nerves ahead of the first solo flight of his RAF pilot training.
The second-in-line to the throne is two weeks into his training stint at the RAF's Cranwell school in Lincolnshire.
William, 25, described his surprise when his instructor said he was ready to take over the controls earlier this month.
"It was one of those experiences when I thought ... you know, hopefully I'll get another practice," he told BBC television.
"And the next thing I know, my instructor jumps out and goes 'Get on with it', and I was left there sort of looking around going, er, what?
"So I just did it, and once you got up in the air it was fine."
Known as Flying Officer William Wales, he has begun his training on a propeller-driven Grob 115E light aircraft, known as a Tutor.
He will then move to RAF Linton-on-Ouse in North Yorkshire where he will be trained to fly the faster Tucano T1 plane, before finally progressing to RAF Shawbury in Shropshire to fly the Squirrel helicopter.
The prince, who has spent the past year with the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals, said he had been ribbed by his colleagues about his life in the Army.
"I keep sort of having lots of jokes about the Army ...that is fine, and I stick up for them," he said.
His RAF colleagues were "a bunch of really good guys, love their flying, all really dedicated guys," he added.
The prince also talked about his frustration with the weather, which has prevented him taking to the skies as much as he would have liked.
It has been a personal ambition for the prince -- the future head of the armed forces -- to learn how to fly and he follows other members of the royal family into the RAF, including his father Prince Charles and uncle Prince Andrew who saw frontline duty as a helicopter pilot in the 1982 Falklands War.
He will start a final attachment, with the Royal Navy, in the early summer.
