Simon Cowell was furious after superstar Mariah Carey threw X-Factor rehearsals into chaos - by keeping contestants waiting THREE HOURS for a surprise mentoring session.
The hopefuls had to sit in the bar at London's posh Dorchester hotel waiting for the US singer, 38. And when they did meet Mariah most were so overcome they CRIED with emotion.
But Cowell blew his top when Friday's meeting made them all late for rehearsals - and 16-year-old Eoghan Quigg had to miss them altogether because he's not allowed on set after 7pm on weekdays.
An X Factor insider said: "Simon was furious about the delays and really annoyed with Mariah. He just wanted the hopefuls to meet the star and get back to the studios.
"He got so frustrated at one stage he ordered an assistant to go to the Dorchester and order the contestants into their limos."

A source tells the publication, "Things are really bad between them.
"The honeymoon period was over before it began.

Mariah Carey is already planning a second wedding to husband Nick Cannon; and this time, the world-renowned diva plans to make her nuptials an extravagant event, according to a source close to the singer.
“It’s going to be held in New York City in the next six weeks. Picture a wedding on the scale of Liza Minelli’s and you’ll be on the right track,” said the source.
Mariah, 38, last week told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that the second wedding would be next year; and the guests at her secret ceremony in the Bahamas were “mainly people there to do my hair and help me with the dress.”
The source adds, “She wants over 2,000 guests and the budget will be well over $4 million and she’ll have at least 14 bridesmaids.”

A friend of the ‘Touch My Body’ singer previously said that “there was no pre-nup” because “there wasn’t time” before last week’s shotgun ceremony.

Top-selling recording artist Mariah Carey and popular rap singer and actor Nick Cannon married this week in the Bahamas, according to several media reports.
The New York Post said on Thursday the pair wed in a secret ceremony in front of family and friends at Carey's house in Eleuthera, citing a source close to Carey.
Latina.com, the Web site for Latina magazine, cited a source near Cannon as saying the nuptials took place on Wednesday, and In Touch Weekly said Cannon had designed a $2.5 million ring he gave to his new bride.
The reports could not be immediately confirmed and representatives for Carey and Cannon did not return e-mails or phone calls for comment.
Carey, 38, recently released the No. 1 single "Touch My Body" off her album "E=MC2," which also debuted on record charts as the best-selling album in mid-April. She has enjoyed tremendous success as a recording artist starting in 1990 with her self-titled debut album.
Cannon, 11 years younger than Carey, has acted on television and in films such as 2002's "Drumline" and "Shall We Dance?" and he made his singing debut with a self-titled album in 2003 and followed up in 2006 with "Stages."
The pair met when Cannon directed a video for her recent single, "Bye, Bye," and have been dating for several weeks, according to reports.
Carey was married previously to record executive Tommy Mottola, but they divorced in 1998. It is Cannon's first marriage.

The Touch My Body singer was sporting the impressive rock at the after-party for her new film Tennessee at New York’s Tenjune nightclub on Saturday night, where she held hands with the actor-and-singer.
An onlooker said: "Mariah and Nick looked really cosy. They were cuddling and made sure they held hands all night. Mariah looked really proud to there with Nick, and he seemed to be having a great time."
However, Nick - who, at 27, is 12 years younger than Mariah - refused to comment on any possible engagement, and would only say the 38-year-old singer is "a great person".
He added to MTV: "I can't even know what to say. She's probably the most festive, remarkable person I've ever met. She is a good friend. But rumours happen."
Mariah - who split from her record executive husband Tommy Mottola in 1997 - was rumoured to be dating Mark Sudack, a member of her management team, before she was first seen out with Nick in Las Vegas on April 15.

Two leading ladies of pop music, Mariah Carey and Madonna, surpassed the King of Rock 'n' Roll in the Billboard charts record book this week.
As expected, Mariah Carey moved past Elvis Presley and into sole possession of second place for most No. 1 singles in the rock era, as "Touch My Body" soared 14 places on the Billboard Hot 100 to become the 18th chart-topper of her career.
With her latest album, "E=MC2," yet to hit retail, Carey might equal the Beatles' record of 20 No. 1 hits before her set runs its course.
"Body's" blast to No. 1 is fueled by a record-setting debut-week digital tally of 286,000 downloads. That sum, good enough for the No. 1 slot on Hot Digital Songs chart, surpasses the 277,000 downloads labelmate Rihanna opened with in the June 9, 2007, Billboard issue with her summer smash "Umbrella."
Presley also was nudged from his standing as the recording artist with the most top-10 hits in the rock era, as Madonna surpassed him with her 37th top 10, "4 Minutes."
The track, featuring Justin Timberlake, clocked a jump from No. 68 to No. 3. Prior to the establishment of the Billboard Hot 100 roster in 1958, the industry standard chart was the Best Sellers in Stores tally, where Presley scored his first 12 top 10s.
Like Carey's "Touch My Body," Madonna's Hot 100 jump was spurred by stupendous download sales. "4 Minutes" tallied 217,000 digital sales in its first week of wide release (it had been available as a Verizon exclusive) to enter Hot Digital Songs chart at No. 2.
The success of Carey and Madonna's singles marked the first time since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking digital sales in 2003 that two titles debuted simultaneously on Hot Digital Songs with more than 200,000 downloads each. The week also marked the best single-week digital tally in either artist's career.

Pop divas Madonna and Mariah Carey have managed the unthinkable, a record break tinged with blasphemy: they have both surpassed Elvis Presley, the former with most top-ten singles, the latter with most No. 1 singles.
Elvis Presley, the undefeated King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, has lost two crown jewels to Mimi and Madge. Elvis’ decade-long triumphant lead of the Billboard charts, which included most No. 1 singles by a solo artist and most Top 10 hits in the 50-year history of Billboard's Hot 100, has been chipped by two of the most successful female singers ever.
Mariah Carey’s latest single, “Touch My Body,” put her name ahead of Elvis’ when it comes to counting No. 1 singles, with only The Beatles ahead of her. Spooky, some would say!
“Touch My Body” is Mimi’s 18th No. 1 song and the first single from her “E=MC2” album, due April 15. It remains to be seen whether the singer will hold this title for 40 years, like Elvis has. His last chart triumph was 1969’s “Suspicious Minds.”

"Touch My Body" is the first single off of Carey's upcoming album "E=MC2," due out April 16.
Carey, 38, said this is the most enjoyable point of her nearly two-decade old career, and that is now her priority, not trying to set sales records or even making pop history.

The American singer confessed that her raunchy music videos and sexy image were not fair representations of her personality.
She told Allure: "It's a dichotomy, I understand. I understand that people think I'm a ditzy moron. But I'm more like a prude! I'm Mary Poppins.
"I'm what the buttoned-up girls are supposed to be."
Carey, who releases new single 'Touch My Body' on March 31, replaced Janet Jackson on Saturday Night Live at the weekend. Jackson pulled out after visiting a hospital in LA last week with flu.
