Leona Lewis has been forced to deny she sparked Chris Brown's violent 'attack' on his girlfriend Rihanna just hours before the Grammys on Sunday.
It's now claimed Leona's friendly chat with Brown sent the Umbrella star into a spin after they shared a joke together.
Witnesses at the pre-Grammy event claim: 'At one point, Rihanna caught Chris flirting with Leona.'
'They were carrying on and laughing, and Rihanna saw Chris with his hand on the small of Leona's back. It may have been innocent, but that set Rihanna off,' the insider alleged to Star magazine.
But now friends of British sensation Leona insist the Bleeding Love singer would never have flirted with Rihanna's man.
'I can't imagine this has anything to do with Leona. Leona's not like that. She wouldn't flirt and is happy in her own relationship,' her friend told Metro.
Another said Leona was busy celebrating her nominations with her boyfriend Lou.
A spokeswoman for Lewis, 23, insisted: 'This has nothing to do with Leona'.
Meanwhile, the fallout over Brown's alleged attack on the Barbadian beauty continues to grow after she was hospitalised with reports of facial injuries.
Insiders close to police investigations reportedly allege Rihanna, 20, has told cops her 19-year-old boyfriend attempted to 'choke her' and threatened to 'kill' her in their car.
It comes as Brown's own stepdad says he is not surprised about the allegations made about his son.
Donnelle Hawkins says: 'I wouldn't be surprised.'
'He has to take responsibility for his own actions.'
Meanwhile, US rapper Kanye West has branded the alleged assault on his friend 'devastating'.
'I feel like that's my baby sis and I would do any and everything to help her in any situation', West told US radio.
Meanwhile, Brown's friend, rapper T.I has stepped up to defend the 'Kiss Kiss' singer telling he is only 'human'. The loyalty came as a string of radio stations across America have begun boycotting his music.
Rihanna has been discharged from a Los Angeles hospital and has cancelled her 21st birthday celebration because of her 'injuries'.

Leona Lewis' new single, a cover of Snow Patrol's 'Run', has become the fastest-selling digital-only track in the UK.
The song has been downloaded around 70,000 times since it was made available as a digital single on Sunday (November 30), reports BBC News.
The tune has surpassed the previous record-holder, Estelle's 'American Boy', which was downloaded 51,857 time in its first week of sales.
As previously reported, Lewis' cover of 'Run' was not initially intended to be released as a single, with the singer's record label, Sony, then accused of attempting to cash in by tagging it on to a reissue of her 2007 debut album, 'Spirit'.
'Run' reached Number 5 in 2003 when first released by Snow Patrol, and their version has also recently returned to the UK singles chart on downloads alone.

British acts Coldplay and Leona Lewis have agreed to perform at the upcoming American Music Awards show in Los Angeles, producers announced Wednesday.
The rock band and the pop singer join the star-studded lineup confirmed for the Nov. 23 event, which will air live on ABC.
It was also announced Wednesday that David Archuleta, Ashley Tisdale, Demi Lovato and T-Pain will award trophies at this year's ceremony, at which comedian Jimmy Kimmel is set to serve as host.
In addition, the 36th annual AMAs will feature performances by Kanye West, the Jonas Brothers, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, New Kids on the Block, Pussycat Dolls, Taylor Swift, Pink, The Fray and Annie Lennox -- who will receive a special award of merit.
Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks, producers said.
"We're thrilled to have Coldplay and Leona Lewis, both first-time AMA performers, on our live show this year," Dick Clark Productions President Orly Adelson said in a statement. "Coldplay's unique rock sound and Lewis' soaring pop vocals add extraordinary new elements to this year's superb group of performers."

Upcoming British singer Leona Lewis is eager to return to her native land and catch up with her favourite TV show EastEnders.
Lewis attended the recent charity gig in Las Vegas hosted by pop star Justin Timberlake and she received the biggest cheer.
After the show while talking to reporters she said, "It was a great night for a great cause. But I can't wait to get home, for some home-cooked food and to watch EastEnders."

Singer Leona Lewis collected more boos than awards when she failed to turn up at the Mobo (Music of Black Origin) Awards.
Lewis, 23, picked up Best Album for the multi million-selling Spirit at the star-studded awards ceremony as well as Best Video for Bleeding Love.
There was loud booing after it was revealed she was not present to pick her awards up in person.
Lewis, who became the first British woman to reach number one in the US singles charts for more than 20 years, gave an acceptance speech by video for the Best Album award.

Sinitta accepted the Best Video award on Lewis' behalf but could barely be heard above loud booing.
"I remember when Simon (Cowell) and I first discovered her and she goes from strength to strength... You should be proud of her," she said.
Earlier in the night awards host Mel B had urged the audience: "Stop giving Leona Lewis a hard time you lot.
"It's not her fault she can't be here."
Lewis was one of several stars who were booed by the audience when it was revealed that they could not personally pick up their awards.

X Factor winner Leona Lewis pulled out of opening the Harrods winter sale last year because of her vegetarian beliefs, it has emerged.
The 23-year-old, who is firmly against animal cruelty, cancelled her public appearance at the department store in London because it stocked animal fur.
Harrods said it was told she cancelled "due to a scheduling clash".
Lewis, who scored a huge hit with Bleeding Love, was recently voted the UK's sexiest vegetarian.
"I'm totally against animal cruelty," she said at the time. "I don't have clothes, shoes or bags made from any animal products."
Various reports have suggested Lewis had been offered £1 million to attend the event.
A Harrods spokesman refused to reveal how much she was offered as this was "confidential", but he added: "It was at least a tenth of what has been reported."

Leona Lewis has been spotted wearing a diamond ring, sparking speculation that she is engaged.
The singer was first seen with the sparkler as she left The Late Show With David Letterman in New York last week.
She was also snapped wearing it on a night out in London with fellow X Factor contestant Ashley McKenzie on Saturday.

Simon Cowell has decided to splash out on a $5 million Los Angeles home for Leona Lewis.
The music mogul has told his protégé that she will need a permanent base in the States if she wants to capitalise on her recent international success.
"Simon thinks she is absolutely amazing so he wanted to treat her," a source told The People. "He's so pleased with how hard she works and what a massive success she's become. Even though Simon is very rich, he's careful with money and doesn't like to waste it."
Leona's single 'Bleeding Love' topped the US Billboard chart this week. She is the first British female artist to reach number one in America for more than 20 years.

Billboard reports that the album will be released in the US on 8 April.
Lewis' 'Bleeding Love' video will premiere on American VH1 on 4 February.
The US version of 'Spirit' will feature two new songs: the Akon-written 'Forgive Me' and 'Misses Glass', written and produced by Madd Scientist and RockCity.
