Federline, 30, who has been called names like boy toy, gold-digger, wannabe rapper, and partier during his association with Spears, revealed that he still cares for her and loves their two sons Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2 very much.

In an interview Federline revealed that he had met Spears for the first time at a club in Hollywood, called Joseph’s, and when he was asked what the happiest memories of the marriage were, he answered getting married.

“Well, getting married. I never thought that I would get married but it wound up happening. That was a really, really, happy, exciting moment. I pretty much realized that I was giving my life to her, and I was doing it without question,” People magazine quoted him as saying.

Regarding the divorce, he said that Spears had gone behind his back when obtaining it.

“It’s hard enough to be in a marriage, and then have a kid, then kids, it changes everything. For me, I’d become more concerned with my children, he stated.

“Not that I ignored Britney, but my kids are always most important … I mean, we were having complications.

“I didn’t give her an ultimatum, but I was trying to work stuff out with her, and she didn’t even talk to me or anything and went behind my back and filed [for divorce]. [I was] completely blindsided,” he added.

Now that Spears is finally getting her life back on track, they’re sharing parenting duties again.

Britney Spears given more access to sons

A Los Angeles judge has granted Britney Spears greater access to her two sons, the lawyer for her ex-husband Kevin Federline said after a custody hearing.

The lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said Spears had made progress in getting her personal life back together.

Federline has had full custody of their children since January, when Spears entered a psychiatric hospital.

The pop star's personal life spiralled out of control after her break-up from Federline in 2006.

A constant tail of paparazzi caught her increasingly erratic behaviour.

The 26-year-old shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella, entered rehab and was twice taken by ambulance to hospital psychiatric units.

She lost custody of two-and-a-half-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, 20 months, in October and lost visiting rights in January.

Mr Federline agreed to occasional supervised visits in February.

Ms Spears's father has temporarily taken over control of the pop star's assets and estate.

"We are so pleased at Britney's progress and we are very appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress," her parents said in a statement on Tuesday.

She is due back in court in July for another progress report.

Dozens of photographers and reporters watched Ms Spears arrive as a front-seat passenger in a white Land Rover.

In recent months Ms Spears has kept a fairly low profile, but she did make an appearance last month on US sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

Britney Spears' lawyer says K-Fed can pay own bill

If Kevin Federline can afford to tip a waitress two grand, he can pay his own legal fees, say lawyers for Britney Spears. Monday in a Los Angeles court, K-Fed pleaded poverty, saying his ex-wife should continue to pay his hefty law bill — $405,000 to be exact. In just four months, the acrimonious exes have racked up over a million dollars in lawyers' fees, all of which Brit is currently responsible for.

But Stacy Phillips, Britney's newest legal eagle, says that the once down-and-out Federline is more than capable of paying his own bills. "He needs to take responsibility for the diligent work being done on his behalf," she said.

Phillips told the court commissioner Federline should pay between $150,000 and $175,000 and claimed he omitted his $200,000 spousal- support checks from his earning declarations. Phillips also argued that Federline recently tipped a waitress $2,000 on a $365 bill, and has blown $20,000 on jewelry, phone calls and food while listing the charges as "business expenses."

Mark Vincent Kaplan, lawyer for Federline, says that Britney should not only keep signing his checks, but that the singer is actually getting a bargain. Said Kaplan: "If the court does not order [her] to pay, there cannot be a legal playing field. Our fees are far under the market level for the package you get."

He may be right. Spears' old law firm, Trope and Trope, charged her $630,000 for four months' work, while Federline's bill from Kaplan was about $250,000 less.

Spears didn't actually attend the hearing — her dad, Jamie Spears, executor of her estate, made an appearance. The pop tart may have been home preparing for her upcoming foray into television: CBS has confirmed that Spears will be a guest star on an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" this season.

Britney Spears Loses Custody of Kids to K-Fed

Britney Spears was apparently spending a second day in a hospital Saturday, the result of a bizarre standoff that brought police to her house and led a judge to award ex-husband Kevin Federline custody of their two sons.

A court commissioner on Friday gave Federline sole physical and legal custody of 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, and suspended Spears' visitation rights.

Commissioner Scott Gordon's ruling came a day after Spears was hauled away from her home by paramedics after police had to intervene when she refused to return the children to Federline after a court-monitored visit.

Gordon ordered another hearing to be held Jan. 14.

Federline had previously been awarded temporary custody of the boys because the 26-year-old pop singer has defied court orders, resulting in limitations on her visitation.

"I'm not happy about any of these events," Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said when he left the closed-door emergency hearing Friday afternoon. "There's no winners here."

Kaplan said he went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after Spears was admitted, but he declined to provide any details about the pop star, her ex-husband or their sons.

Hospital spokeswoman Simi Singer wouldn't confirm or deny reports in entertainment media that Spears would be held for 72 hours for psychological evaluation. The reports didn't identify their sources.

The drama began around 8 p.m. Thursday when officers were called to her home to help resolve a dispute over her refusal to turn the children over to Federline as dictated by their custody agreement.

It took two to three hours to resolve the conflict, Los Angeles police Officer Ana Aguirre said.

"Police resolved the conflict," Aguirre said. "Both children were turned over to her ex-husband Kevin Federline for custody, and she was in fact taken to a local hospital for medical treatment."

Early police reports said officers thought Spears might have been under the influence of some substance, but Aguirre said there was no evidence of that.

"Our understanding is that was not the case," she said.

Officers at the scene determined that paramedics "needed to be called" but it was unclear why, she said.

"We're not aware of any type of injuries that she sustained" and she was not combative with authorities, Aguirre said.

Spears wasn't arrested in connection with the custody dispute, she said.

"There was no actual crime that was involved," Aguirre said.

Spears and Federline married in October 2004. Her life has spiraled downward since their divorce in July. She has been photographed without underwear and appeared to be drunk and out-of-control in public. She shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella and spent a month in rehab.

She had hoped to regain her pop crown with a much-hyped performance at MTV's Video Music Awards in September, but it was universally panned by fans and critics.

Still, Spears latest album, "Blackout," earned positive reviews when it was released in October and brought Spears her first No. 1 hit in years, "Gimme More."

Britney Spears faces fresh heartbreak, with the release of pictures of her ex-husband Kevin Federline cosying up to none other than her own party pal, Paris Hilton.

The hotel heiress, who has become good friends with Britney after partying with her several times this year, was seen laughing and joking with Kevin at Las Vegas' LAX nightclub on Saturday.

Kaplan added to People magazine: "It was a good Christmas for all. They were great. Kevin had all of his kids and it was a big, wonderful family setting.
