Sources close to the Spears and Federline families reveal exclusively to OK! that Kevin, who was married to Jamie Lynn's sister Britney and is currently embroiled in a nasty custody battle with the troubled pop star, has reached out to his former sister-in-law and her mother Lynne as they face the ordeal of being in the scandal spotlight.

"Kevin has long thought of Jamie Lynn as a little sister," a Federline family member shares with OK!.

The wannabe rapper spoke with Lynne before the baby news dropped and, according to the source, "he was heartbroken because he was concerned about what it would mean for Jamie Lynn's future." But now that the dust has begun to settle, "he just wants to be part of the support system."
