Britney Spears to star in SATC film?

martes, 13 de enero de 2009 |

Sarah Jessica Parker is apparently keen to cast Britney Spears in the next Sex And The City movie.

The actress thinks the Womanizer singer would be perfect in the eagerly anticipated sequel to last year's hit flick, says Heat magazine.

It seems Britney - who impressed critics with her cameo on US TV show How I Met Your Mother last year - would play a young relative of SJP's character Carrie Bradshaw.

Sarah Jessica told friends: "My idea is to have someone like Britney Spears move to New York as my cousin or niece and Carrie would show her the ropes."

It wouldn't be the first time mum-of-two Britney has been on the big screen - the 27-year-old appeared in chick flick Crossroads seven years ago but the road trip movie was slated by critics.

Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are expected to reprise their roles in the SATC sequel.

Romantic Comedy Pairs Hugh Grant, Sarah Jessica Parker

sábado, 1 de noviembre de 2008 |

Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker are reportedly in negotiations to star in a romantic comedy for Columbia Pictures.

According to Variety, the untitled project comes from writer-director Marc Lawrence, who previously worked with Grant on "Music and Lyrics" and "Two Weeks Notice."

The trade paper says Lawrence's script focuses on an estranged New York couple who have to relocate to Wyoming after they witness a murder and enter the witness protection program. The project was originally titled "Buffalo Faith," but that may no longer be the case.

Columbia, which picked up the project in turnaround from Castle Rock Entertainment, is hoping for a March production start date.

Parker has circled a number of projects since the feature version of "Sex and the City" became a summertime smash. Her other big screen credits include "Smart People" and "Failure to Launch."

Grant has been absent from the big screen since "Music and Lyrics" and "American Dreamz."

'Sex and the City' author Candace Bushnell thinks that teen sensation Miley Cyrus will be the most eligible Hollywood actress to play the young Carrie Bradshaw, if her prequel novels are turned into movies of TV shows.

Bushnell, who has recently signed a deal to pen two teen novels about her character Bradshaw's high school years, would love to see Cyrus playing Bradshaw.

When asked to name her new Carrie, a part Sarah Jessica Parker has played on the big and small screen, Bushnell said, "I don't know... What about Miley Cyrus?".

The Hannah Montana actress Cyrus also seems to be interested in playing the famous Carrie Bradshaw.

"I'd love to do a younger, cleaner version of Sex + The City," the Daily Telegraph Cyrus quoted her as saying during an interview.

Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick still happy after affair rumours

miércoles, 30 de julio de 2008 |

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick have reportedly not been bothered by the recent claims that Matthew had an affair earlier in the year.

Reports began circulating last week that the The Producers star cheated on Sarah with an unnamed 25 year old youth worker while Sarah was busy working on the big-screen adaptation of Sex and the City.

But a friend of the couple’s told OK that the rumours haven’t damaged their 11 year marriage: “[they] have never had a conventional marriage, but it totally works for the two of them.

“Sure they fight like every other couple, but they love each other and their little boy [five year old son James Wilkie].

“They are so private and hate all this silly gossip. At the end of the day the only opinion Sarah cares about is Matthew’s and vice versa.”

The pair were spotted taking a walk along a beach in the Hamptons this weekend and an onlooker reported: “They looked very happy and in love. They looked totally normal, like nothing was going on.”

Sarah Jessica Parker hasn't ruled out 'Sex and the City' sequel

domingo, 1 de junio de 2008 |

Sarah Jessica Parker will make a second 'Sex and the City' movie - if she can find a balance between her careers as a mother and actress.

Positive early reviews of the new film - an adaptation of the hit TV series - have prompted the 43-year-old to consider following it up with a sequel - but only if it doesn't drag her away from young James Wilkie, her son with actor husband Matthew Broderick.

When grilled on US TV show 'Today on Thursday', Parker said, "You'd have to ask my son... He'd have to be willing to let me be that diligent...

"This last experience has been two years, and it's been the real last year of my life professionally. And I've had to figure out how to make certain that he is well and good. But I've been absent in a lot of ways and it's time for me not to be for a while."

But she admits the real decision will be based on the first movie's box office success: "Honestly, the truth of the matter is I think we've felt so privileged to arrive at this day, that we have not uttered the word (sequel). I feel it's really out of our hands. I don't know."

Sarah Jessica Parker unsure about 'Sex and the City' marriage

martes, 27 de mayo de 2008 |

Sarah Jessica Parker has let it slip that the new 'Sex and the City' movie might not be for real - literally.

The actress, who plays New York socialite and writer Carrie Bradshaw in the much-anticipated film adaptation of the hit TV series, admits fans of the show might be in for a shock when the truth is revealed.

Refusing to be drawn into talking about a rumoured death in the new film, which opens on Friday, Parker says: "I'm so reluctant to answer that - I am fairly certain there is no death."

But she turned cryptic when asked if her character's marriage, which is alluded to in trailers for the movie, really does take place.

Speaking to Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest, Parker said: "It's very unclear if that's a dream sequence - It looks as if Carrie might be but it's not clear to me, even still, if that was a dream sequence or not.

"I'm trying to be clever and stealth about not giving too much away."

Sarah Jessica Parker denies Sex And The City rift rumours

viernes, 16 de mayo de 2008 |

Sarah Jessica Parker has denied rumours of a rift with her Sex And The City co-stars.

It was reported earlier this week that the actress's rivalry with her castmates threatened Monday's premiere of the new movie in London.

The Daily Mail suggested that Kim Cattrall had opted to head to a restaurant for dinner rather than sit through the screening with her fellow leading ladies. Cynthia Nixon was also said to have scoffed at the tall Philip Treacy hat that Parker wore at the event.

However, the 43-year-old told chatshow host Jonathan Ross that she "loved those women", saying: "I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else. We are family, there would be no reason to do it otherwise.

"I'm so proud of the work the other ladies have done, I think they're marvellous."

Writer/director Michael Patrick King has also spoken out to deny reports of disputes among the cast.

Sex and the City" premieres in Londo

martes, 13 de mayo de 2008 |

Londoners turned out in droves late Monday for the long-awaited world première of "Sex and the City" as the global TV smash-hit charting the life and loves of four New York singletons finally hit the big screen here.

In keeping with all the glamour and glitz of the series, the frocks worn by its four principal stars to the première in Leicester Square were as eagerly awaited as any snippets about the plot, which picks up on the characters' lives four years on.

First to delight the crowds of fans was Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the main character Carrie Bradshaw, wearing a green tulle dress by British designer Alexander McQueen and a spectacular headpiece of flowers by Philip Treacy.

British-born Cattrall, who plays man-eating exec Samantha Jones, was next on to the red carpet, wearing a striking off-the-shoulder dress in red designed by Vivienne Westwood.

Asked if she would be willing to make a sequel, Cattrall said simply: "Perhaps."

Reports say Cattrall's demands led to a delay in making the film.

Cynthia Nixon, who plays feisty lawyer Miranda Hobbes, arrived wearing a pleated, floor-length black Calvin Klein dress slashed to the thighs.

The last of the famous four to take to the carpet was Kristin Davis, wearing a cherry-red vintage sleeveless dress and cream peep-toe heels.

Asked why the world première of a film so closely associated with New York was being held in London, Davis said: "Why not England? I like Britain. There's enough of us to go round."

The producers, New Line, insist that the decision was taken simply to maximise the films "global appeal".

Fans of the series have been eagerly waiting to find out the fate of Carrie and her main love interest, Mr Big, portrayed by Chris Noth, who did not attend the première.

The film is on general release in the UK from May 28.

Sex and the city star Sarah Jessica Parker is sad to see New York lose its individuality - insisting many areas have been stripped of their everyday charm and replaced by swanky bars and restaurants.

The actress - who first moved to the city in 1976 - is convinced that so many people are desperate to see the city as a glamorous and fashionable place, all the features that made New York unique are being lost.

And Parker's actor husband Matthew Broderick is convinced her hit TV show, which was set in New York, may be partly to blame for the changes.

She tells the New York Daily News, "I don't know if you do this with your husband. But say one of us is walking down the street, I'll call him and say, 'You know, the Laundromat is closed?' And he'll say, 'What?' I'll be like, 'The Laundromat at 11th and W. Fourth St. is closed!' 'That's your fault.' (He'll say)."

And Parker concedes that property prices in the city have now become so high, first-time buyers would have to look towards the nearby borough of Queens if they want to get on the property ladder.

She adds, "I guess there are places in Queens that are affordable."

The stars of Sex and the City: The Movie squealed happily as they reunited on the red carpet Monday night at a Point Foundation benefit in New York City.

Getting all four actresses in one place is "very rare," Sarah Jessica Parker, wearing a silvery dress and shoes by Yves St. Laurent, told PEOPLE. "On the set, we eventually got used to seeing each other, so we didn't scream as much."

Meanwhile the reunion was going straight to Kim Cattrall's head. "It's like champagne," she said of seeing all her fellow costars. "It's intoxicating. My heart flutters a little bit."

So what brought them all out? Parker, Cattrall and Kristen Davis were there to cheer on Cynthia Nixon, who was being honored with a Point Courage Award. (The organization offers scholarships to gay, lesbian and transgender youths.)

"Its nice [when] ... someone thinks that the way you're living is nice enough that you should receive an award for it," Nixon, who attended the event with her partner Christine Marinoni, told PEOPLE. (As for her slim physique, Nixon said she dropped pounds for the movie, thanks in part to Gyrotronics.)

"The way she lives her life is good work," added Parker, who was also on hand to present the Point Inspiration Award to Time Warner. "She leads by example."

In presenting the award, Point Foundation scholarship recipient Tyler Dillard – who was shunned by his own family when he came out – said he had faith "because of people like Cynthia Nixon ... who live their lives open."

The Calvin Klein-clad actress accepted the award with humility and grace. "When you're a young gay person, you yearn for nothing so much as the presence of other gay people," she said, "most especially, an older generation of gay people who can encourage and inspire you."

That being said, Nixon – who had two children with her longtime boyfriend Danny Mozes before their 2003 split – acknowledged that she was not an out teenager. "That is part of what I look back on now as ... my straight period," she said.

After Sarah Jessica Parker and everybody else behind the Sex and the City movie attempted — and largely succeeded — in keeping plot details under wraps during production on the film, fans were glad when the SATC trailer seemed to reveal hints about what will happen when the movie debuts on May 30. "Seemed to" being the operative phrase here, as Parker suggests that the trailer may appear to give away more about the plot than it actually does. "Some things were revealed," Parker told EW.com at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas on Thursday evening. "It's very curious to hear how people have interpreted the trailer."

It's no surprise that Parker (who, as a producer on the film, is still knee-deep in post-production matters regarding marketing plans and "massive amounts of just perfunctory minutia that would bore you") was picking her words carefully. The teaser, she said, aimed to tell some of the story without giving away too much, of course. But, she added cryptically, "we also knew that people would make decisions about what that trailer meant and what those words meant and who knows what order we put it in and why. I think in large part we did it because photographs had already [leaked] out and so people were telling us the movie that we were making — which was wonderful, but no one has yet told us actually the story that we're telling. So it's all out there in the trailer, but it's not really the story."

So does that mean that there were fake-outs in the trailer? Were fans duped? "Um, yeah, there are fake-outs. I mean, not like a bait-and-switch — people aren't going to come to the theater and feel hoodwinked or taken advantage of. We just had to be careful because it's a movie with an ending that we wanted to keep protected. So we had to be a little clever and a little stealth with the trailer, but we also had to give people a trailer. It's not enough to just give you the images and music — I would be perfectly fine with that, but apparently that's not acceptable!"

Sarah Jessica Parker voted least sexy celeb

lunes, 29 de octubre de 2007 |

Sarah Jessica Parker may be loved by women around the world for her unique sense of style, but it seems the 'Sex And The City' star does not appeal to men.

While celebrities like Charlize Theron and Jessica Alba often find themselves at the top of Hollywood’s sexiest women, SJP has come bottom in a list by Maxim magazine.

The list, published in the new issue of the lads mag, found Sarah Jessica as the unsexiest woman in Tinseltown, followed by beehive-loving Amy Winehouse and 'Grey’s Anatomy' star Sandra Oh.

Madonna came up fourth on the list, as Maxim dubbed the 'Material Girl' unsexy for her “self-righteous bellyaching and rapid postnuptial deterioration”.

Britney Spears was in fifth place.
