Two surfers have been charged after a photographer was allegedly thrown into the ocean while trying to take pictures of actor Matthew McConaughey.
Skylar Peak, 24, and Philip Hildebrand, 30, are said to have confronted several paparazzi on a beach in California and are accused of battery.
One photographer claimed he was attacked and had his camera hurled into the water during the incident in June.
McConaughey was surfing at the time and was not directly involved.
Even though a video of the confrontation appeared online, police had problems finding any witnesses to describe what happened, the Associated Press reported.
But prosecutors in the Los Angeles district attorney's office now think there is enough evidence to proceed.
Mr Peak's spokesman, Howard Bragman, insisted the surfer was innocent.
"We believe that a complete investigation, including looking at the tapes, will show that Skylar defended himself," Mr Bragman added.
A court hearing is expected to take place next month.

Matthew McConaughey is designing his own line of swimwear.
The 'Fool's Gold' star will release a range of beach-related items including swimsuits, Frisbees and T-shirts, available from his website matthewmcconaughey.com this summer.
A source is quoted as saying by the USA Today newspaper: "Matthew is known for his love of surfing and he always looks the part when he's out riding the waves so this range is perfect for him. He's really enthusiastic about it.
"People are sure to want to emulate his beach style."
The 38-year-old actor's range will be called j.k. livin, the name of his production company - inspired by his personal mantra 'Just keep livin''.
Matthew's love of surfing has even influenced his movie choices.
Later this year he can be seen in the film 'Surfer Dude', on which he also shares production duties.
Matthew plays Steve Addington, a character described by film insiders as "a soul-searching surfer undergoing an existential crisis".

Matthew McConaughey and his Brazilian girlfriend are expecting their first baby, he said on Tuesday, describing themselves as "stoked and wowed."
He said on his Web site that Camila Alves, a model from Rio De Janeiro, was about three months' pregnant "and all looks healthy and lively so far ... we are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God."
The 38-year-old Texan native, once named "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine, is famed for his low-maintenance approach to life. He was once arrested for playing bongos in the nude, and was recently living in a Malibu trailer park until he decided to buy a nearby $10 million home.
He got his big break playing the lead in the 1996 legal thriller "A Time to Kill," and has lately found a successful niche with romantic comedies such as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Failure to Launch."
In the latest issue of Playboy, he said he looked forward to fatherhood and the prospect of "some little McConaugheys running around." But, as the son of parents who divorced each other twice before marrying a third time, he was less excited about walking down the aisle.
Alves started dating McConaughey after he broke up with Spanish actress Penelope Cruz in mid-2006.
