Leon Jackson has won this year's final of the ITV1 talent show The X Factor.
The Scottish vocalist upset bookmakers' favourite Rhydian Roberts and sibling duo Same Difference to take the title.
A stunned Leon said: "I set out to pursue this because I love music, but as it went along I knew I could potentially change my mum's life."
The 18-year-old, from West Lothian, only began singing earlier this year and cites singers Michael Bublé and Jamie Cullum as his inspiration.
In claiming the X Factor crown, Leon secured a £1 million record contract and is well placed to top the UK's Christmas singles chart.
Leon was mentored by Dannii Minogue, who said: "I cannot wait to see what he's going to do with it (record contract)."
Minogue's celebrity sister Kylie made a special appearance in the final show, singing her 1990 hit Better The Devil You Know with Leon.
All of the contestants sang duets.
Same Difference was paired with Kylie's fellow Australian Jason Donovan and Rhydian sang with opera star Katherine Jenkins.
Last year's winner, Leona Lewis, is currently riding high in the charts.
