Dawson Returns to Melodramatic Teen TV

Genius casting alert: Entertainment Weekly reports that One Tree Hill has nabbed none other than James "Dawson" Van Der Beek himself to shoot an episode of the teen drama that will air in late November. The news is even more awesome when you realize that One Tree Hill, often considered the awkward younger brother of Dawson's Creek, is filmed in Wilmington, N.C., the same town where Dawson's was filmed; it also uses the same production lot. And hey! Both Van Der Beek and Chad Michael Murray have an incredibly high opinion themselves that is inversely proportional to their actual talent! So many coincidences.

"The specter of Dawson's Creek is always around us," One Tree Hill executive producer Mark Schwahn told Entertainment Weekly. "We're about to [complete] 128 episodes, which is what Dawson's did, so I thought it would be cool to get James."

Wait, is One Tree Hill shot in HD? If so, they might want to rethink Van Der Beek's appearance - his giant forehead (or "fivehead," if you will) has the potential to seriously frighten those watching on a big-screen TV.
