Paula Abdul has claimed she would like to adopt a child within the next three to five years, it has emerged.

Citing an interview with Now, Digital Spy reported that the choreographer, singer and American Idol judge claimed she would like children within "the next three to five years" and explained she would like to adopt.

However, she added she has made no plans to go abroad in search of a baby like other celebs, such as Angelina Jolie and Madonna.

"I wouldn't necessarily adopt from abroad like some celebs. I just want a healthy baby," she said.

Meanwhile, Paula - who currently dates JT Torregiani, a restaurant owner - is currently working on a comeback album, which will be her first in more than a decade.

In an interview with People magazine last week, she claimed the album will feature a selection of classic Paula Abdul tracks remixed by the likes of Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, as well as around "five new songs".

Paula's new single, Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, is a collaboration with fellow American Idol judge Randy Jackson and appears on his latest compilation album, which was released earlier this month.
