Halle Berry's Baby Name Unveiled: Nahla Ariela Aubry

Unlike some celebrities who made a huge fuss about announcing their newborns' names, actress Halle Berry, who just gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, had no such issues.

As far as celebrity baby names go, Nahla Ariela is not bad at all. According to Pamela Redmond Satran, co-author of The Baby Name Bible, "Nahla is the Arabic word for ‘drink of water,’ and Ariela is related to the Hebrew Ariel, which means ‘lion of god.’"

"We didn't have a name picked out until just before we left the hospital," Halle was quoted by Access Hollywood as saying.

"For us it was hard to name the most important person in our life until we met her."

The 41-year-old "X-Men" star and her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, became the proud parents of Nahla, who was born at 7 pounds & 4 ounces, on Sunday morning.

Halle, who was "doing great" after delivering the baby, has already been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Speaking on the happy event, Aubrey's family is over the mood with the new member joining their clan.

"I was so happy when I found out," Gabriel's sister, Eugenie Aubry, 36, was quoted by People as saying.

"It's been a long time since we've had a new baby in the family," said added. "It's very exciting."

Eugenie, who lives in Montreal, Quebec, also told the magazine that she was pleased Berry had been learning French and said she looked forward to meeting her niece. "I'm a Quebecer, and it's great that she is learning how to speak French," Eugenie said. "I'm glad that the little one will speak French, too."

Aubry expressed himself with no lesser enthusiasm, telling Extra last fall that he had been "in preparation mode" for fatherhood for a while and that he had been studying parenting books.

In the meantime, although the two have made no plans to marry, in an October 2007 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Halle said she and Gabriel are fully committed to each other.

"I feel more married, in a way, than I ever have in two marriages before," she told Oprah. "He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and circumstance and the ceremony."
