Tributes paid to Katy French

Tributes have been paid to the late model Katy French, who died in hospital yesterday.

The founder of the charity GOAL, John O'Shea, said he "felt very privileged to have known her".

He described the 24-year-old as someone who had enormous potential for doing good and paid tribute to the work she did when she travelled with GOAL on a charity project to Calcutta. He said she did a "fabulous job" in her work for GOAL.

Ms French was rushed to hospital early on Sunday morning after she collapsed.

She died yesterday at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan with her parents and sister by her bedside, after being in a coma for almost five days.

On 'Morning Ireland' the model Rosanna Davison said Ms French had made an impression on everyone she met.

The Children's Medical & Research Foundation (CMRF) at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin, also paid tribute to the model today.

Edel O'Malley, Director of Operations at the CMRF, said: "Her dedication to Crumlin was incredibly valuable."

"Katy gave up her time to raise awareness and promote the work of the hospital, securing funds to support services which directly benefited sick children," she said.

"Katy's dedication will always be remembered by the staff here at Crumlin."

Post mortem concluded on body of Katy French

A post mortem examination has been concluded on the body of 24-year-old Katy French.

The model died yesterday, after collapsing and falling into a coma in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Gardai in Co Meath have said they are not releasing the results of the post mortem for operational reasons.

They were also this evening awaiting the results of toxicology tests as they attempt to establish what caused Ms French to collapse.

Gardai are to continue with the inquiries with the view to preparing a file for the Coroner.
