Rhydian Roberts signs an album deal

X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts has “definitely signed” an album to deal, the Welsh singer’s mum has confirmed.

Rhydian, who came runner-up to 18-year-old former shop assistant Leon Jackson, is going to release an album on Simon Cowell’s Syco record label under Sony BMG.

Rhydian’s mum Angela, 56, says her son’s fans can now quit the vote row that’s been raging all week.

Supporters have accused the ITV talent show of being rigged in favor of winner Leon - an allegation that’s been categorically denied.

“We’re asking them to let it go and move on,” Angela tells Britain’s Daily Record newspaper. “We give our very best to Leon and look forward to Rhydian’s own career developing as it should.”

Leon is currently heading for Christmas No 1. He is expected to sell 300,000 copies of single When You Believe by Sunday, according to the latest sales figures released yesterday.
