Charlize Theron’s Hollywood Hills home was the scene of a break-in last week, police said.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department stated that Charlize Theron’s home in Hollywood Hills had been secured Thursday. Over the weekend however one or more persons entered the house, E! Online reports.
Los Angeles police are currently investigating the break-in. It is still unknown when the forced entry occurred and whether anything was taken from the house. Police said the actress’s neighbors did not report seeing anyone suspicious on the premises.
Theron’s publicist has not commented on the incident yet.
The Associated Press reports that, as of Monday, police spokeswoman Sara Faden could not say who reported the incident or when police were first notified.
This leaves open the possibility that whoever broke into the Academy Award-winner’s home may not have stolen anything.
It was in early October that actor Nicholas Cage found an intruder in his home in the middle of the night. The man was reportedly walking around the house, wearing one of Cage’s jackets.
The actor called the police and while waiting for the officers escorted his unwanted and apparently peaceful visitor outside the house.
Other celebrities have not been as lucky, such as Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, whose home was burglarized in February this year. The two were not home when they were robbed of an unknown amount of cash, notes E! Online.
Charlize Theron, who received an Academy Award for best actress in 2003 for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in “Monster” recently starred in Paul Haggis' drama “In the Valley of Elah.” Her longtime partner is Irish actor Stuart Townsend.
