Miley Cyrus: No more 'Hannah Montana' films

martes, 31 de marzo de 2009 |

Miley Cyrus plans to be back on the big screen, and soon. Hannah Montana? Not likely after her latest film.

So says the 16-year-old tween phenom, whose alter ego brings her secret double life as a pop star to theaters April 10 with "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

"We got really lucky with having the material to make one movie," Cyrus said in an interview Monday. The film reveals Hannah Montana's identity to the world in a way Cyrus says is "very clever" and diminishes the chances of a sequel — but doesn't dampen the future of the popular Disney TV show.

The film follows last year's sold-out Cyrus-Montana concert tour and her "Best of Both Worlds Concert" 3D movie, which grossed more than $60 million, a rare hit for a concert film.

"I don't know if I would do another (Hannah Montana) film, but I would love to do another season," said Cyrus, who's signed up for a third and says she's interested in a fourth. "That would be what we would all agree on."

Cyrus also seems to agree with the idea of a jump to Hollywood: She's planning to spend the summer working on a film written by "Nights in Rodanthe" and "The Notebook" author Nicholas Sparks. But this is no adaptation of a bestselling romantic novel — instead, Sparks went directly to the screenplay this time, and did so with Cyrus in mind for the part.

Other than the title, "The Last Song," neither Sparks nor Cyrus are giving away any plot points. But Cyrus hints at a role that will put her acting chops to the test.

"I've always been lucky to play parts that relate to me, and this doesn't at all," she said. "I have my issues, but not as bad as this chick. So I'm happy to play someone that's just kind of out there and not someone that I'm like."

Like anyone else, Cyrus is waiting to see whether she's "a good actress or not, or if I'm just good at playing myself.

"So," she added, "We'll see how that goes."

Will that affect her status as a role model for young girls? Not any more than her feelings on the glamorous life she's chosen: Asked what kids should do if they're torn between pursuing an acting dream or going to college, Cyrus responds with her usual unfiltered candor.

"I say 'do it,'" she said, laughing as if she knew what kind of trouble she was causing for herself. "Be a freak. Go to Hollywood."

Madonna Malawi adoption ruling on Friday

|

Madonna is set to find out on Friday if she will be given permission to adopt a second Malawian child. According to 'The New York Times', the adoption is opposed by some human rights groups who believe Malawian authorities have given Madonna special treatment in allowing a non-resident to adopt a child.

According to the Queen of Pop's lawyers, she is asking for an interim adoption of 18 months to prove her suitability as a mother. One local newspaper also said that she wants another child as a sister for her previous Malawian adoptee, David Banda.

Madonna in court to win baby Mercy

|

Madonna will have to wait until Friday to hear if she can adopt a second Malawian orphan after her case was adjourned, it has emerged.

Earlier, dressed in a black skirt, black high heels and holding her hat, the superstar entered the court house in Lilongwe through a back door.

She was flanked by a security guard as she walked the short distance to the building.

She was making her case to adopt four-year-old girl Mercy and take her to a new life in New York.

Her arrival came after the 50-year-old filed adoption papers last week before arriving in Africa over the weekend.

After the appearance she was driven away at high speed in her Range Rover-style vehicle which has blacked out windows.

The one adoption case on the court docket lists only the child's name - Chifundo James. But officials said a decision would not be made until Friday.

Her attempts at a second adoption have met with opposition.

Charity Save the Children urged her to think twice about the girl, whose father is thought to be alive, though other relatives were said to be behind the plan.

'International adoption can actually exacerbate the problem,' said charity spokesman Dominic Nutt.

The very existence of orphanages encourages poor parents to abandon children in the hope that they will have a better life.'

Madonna already has an adopted son, three-year-old David Banda, who she took home from the impoverished African country in 2006.

At the time, claims emerged her and then-husband Guy Ritchie's used their status to fast-track their application.

But her quest to find a sister for David initially drew anger from Mercy's family.

'It is stealing. I won't let her go,' the child's 61-year-old grandmother, Lucy Chekechiwa, told a newspaper.

But Madonna and Mercy's uncle are expected to sign the adoption papers today.

Austin Msowoya from Malawi's Law Commission played down worries.

He said the best interests of the child had to be taken into account – whether they were 'getting an education' with Madonna or staying in an orphanage.

'When you look at these two options, perhaps it becomes best to allow the adoption if the parents and the guardians consent to it,' he added.

Madonna has ties with Malawi, one of the world's poorest nations, setting up Raising Malawi to try to publicise the plight of its orphans.

She has brought daughter Lourdes, 12, on this trip.

Jordan's not welcomed at Goody's funeral

|

Jordan, 30, who had openly talked to the media when she was diagnosed with a cancerous growth on the finger in 2002, has been told that she is not welcome at the funeral.

The former glamour model has repeatedly stated that she would like to attend the ceremony on April 4 to pay her respects, but Jade’s family and friends have told her she is not welcome.

"While Jade may have forgiven her, a lot of her family hasn’t. If she turns up she will not be allowed in," the Sun quoted a source as saying.

Jordan had in September last year criticised Jade’s decision to make her illness public. "I can't believe she is paid for interviews on subjects that people are really traumatised by," she had said.

After Jade announced that she was suffering from cervical cancer, many got their cervical smears done. "A lot of people were offended by Jordan's remarks, which showed unbelievable hypocrisy," the source said.

"But Jade had got to the stage where she knew anger and hatred were empty emotions that would get her nowhere. She didn't want to row and, although she was hurt, she didn't retaliate," the source added.

Spears camp slams 'roadie fight'

viernes, 27 de marzo de 2009 |

Britney Spears' representatives have released a statement about the fracas that saw two tour roadies arrested for an alleged fight with police.

Police in Pittsburgh stepped in to break up a fight that had broken out when one of the contracted workers hit an officer, it is alleged.

Representatives for the singer said that the behaviour is not tolerated by those involved in the tour and that the two men had since been sacked by their employers.

The incident took place on Wednesday in Pittsburgh, where Britney was performing.

In the melee, one of the accused was Tasered after resisting arrest.

Britney's camp said the men were employees of a firm contracted to provide equipment for the tour.

A statement on the singer's website added: "Neither of the men involved are employees of the tour. The two individuals have since been dismissed by their employer.

"The Circus Starring Britney Spears tour does not support or tolerate this type of behaviour."

A human rights group in Malawi, where US popstar Madonna is trying to adopt a sibling for her three-year-old adoptive son David Banda, has warned the government to grant her no special favours.

The 50-year-old star, whose 2006 adoption of Banda from an orphanage in Malawi was dogged by controversy, is expected to return to the country on Saturday with her family, Undule Mwaksungula, spokesman for Malawi's Human Rights Consultative Committee, said.

Madonna has already lodged an application through her local lawyer to adopt a second child, government has confirmed.

British tabloid The Sun claimed Friday that Madonna's heart was set on a four-year-old girl called Mercy James, whom she met in an orphanage in 2007.

"We believe if she (is) going to adopt a second child we must make sure Madonna follows the laws of Malawi, although the (adoption) laws are weak," Mwaksungula said.

While the HRCC had nothing against Madonna, the committee felt she was "using her money, actually, to influence the process and to manipulate the weak laws in the country," he added.

The Malawian government in October 2006 bypassed its own laws banning adoptions by non-residents in granting Madonna and her then- husband Guy Richie custody of David.

Banda, then 13 months, was given up for adoption by his father on the death of the boy's mother.

The adoption was confirmed by Malawi's courts last year.

The number of orphans in Malawi is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands, in a population of 11 million. Many have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and have themselves contracted the virus through mother-to-child transmission.

Half of all citizens of the landlocked country live below the poverty line, leading some parents like Banda to feel their children are better off in an orphanage.

Robert Pattinson: Odor Offender?

|

You'd think that Robert Pattinson might be embarrassed by reports that his alleged lack of hygiene has his costars gagging, but the actor, who once admitted to Jay Leno that he rarely washes his hair, could also see it as a stinky badge of honor.

"I don't have much of a sense of personal hygiene or styling or anything," said Pattinson, 22.

In a recent GQ story, Pattinson was described as wearing clothes that "smell like he has recently purchased them off the back of someone less fortunate than he."

But the scent is not necessarily all bad: After all, some of Pattinson's most honored Hollywood colleagues have expressed fondness for a certain pungency.

PEOPLE's former Sexiest Man Alive Matthew McConaughey has been known to enjoy going au naturel. In 2005, completing the sentence, "A man should smell like…," he told PEOPLE: "a man. I haven't worn deodorant in 20 years."

Similarly, Viggo Mortensen was said to have gotten so into his less-than-groomed character, warrior Aragorn, in Lord of the Rings that he slept in the woods, according to the Toronto Star. Asked about this, costar Sean Bean told the paper, "Bear in mind, he was very smelly."

But Mortensen's girlfriend at the time didn't notice anything objectionable about the hunk's odor. In 2002 when asked about reports of trouble between them partly attributed to his "less-than-religious devotion to soap and water," Lola Schnabel told the Daily News, "I love his smell!"

So maybe Pattinson is simply being a true actor and staying unkempt for his role as a vampire. "He smells great," costar Kristen Stewart said before Twilight opened in November 2008. "It's kind of an animalist thing that goes on. It went along with the movie, so it was perfect."

Britney's Legal Costs to Divorce Kevin: $417,000.

martes, 24 de marzo de 2009 |

Britney Spears's dramatic turnaround from a troubled personal life and stalled career has come with a cost of $2.7 million in legal fees, the Los Angeles Times reports.

A sizeable chunk of the total was the $417,000 price tag for legally ending her 2 ½-year marriage to Kevin Federline, and the subsequent custody battle over their children.

Attorneys for the singer's father Jamie Spears filed a document Monday showing how much his court-ordered control of her business and personal affairs has cost so far. Fees were split among 17 lawyers and firms, including $1 million for Spears's own attorneys. That amount, said the attorneys, covered the "complex and challenging" issues the singer has faced in getting her life back on track.

"Since the initiation of the conservatorship, as a result of the concerted efforts of Mr. Spears as well as the professionals involved, all aspects of Ms. Spears's life have been stabilized and continue to improve," lawyer Geraldine Wyle wrote. She added that the singer's mental health continued "to mend," that she had regained "substantial visitation" with her children and that her career "has been revitalized."

Lindsay Lohan in Minor Car Accident

|

The bad news: Lindsay Lohan and her new white Maserati were in a car accident last night in Glendale, Calif. The good news: no one was hurt, and she wasn't driving.

While her assistant drove and Lilo was in the passenger seat, they hit a Subaru in front of them, damaging the front left side of her brand spankin' new Maserati. It's a good thing she wasn't driving, as she's had two other accidents – in 2005 and 2007 – and another could've gotten her in a load of hot water.

The Mean Girls star is busy doing her community service to atone for her 2007 arrest.

Jennifer Aniston apparently split from toyboy John Mayer after she discovered there was a third party in the relationship – Twitter.

She ended the rollercoaster romance after finding out he spent hours on the social networking site, despite claiming he was too busy to call her, according to pals.

'John suddenly stopped calling her or returning her e-mails and when she would finally catch up with him, he'd say, “I've been so busy with work.

'I'm sorry I haven't had time to call you back”,' a source said.

But the 31-year-old's flimsy excuse was exposed when the actress, 40, noticed his regular updates on Twitter.

'Jen was fuming,' her friend added.

'There he was, telling her he didn't have time for her and yet his page was filled with Twitter updates.

Every few hours, sometimes minutes, he'd update with some stupid line.

And in her mind, she was like, “He has time for all this Twittering but he can't send me a text, an e-mail, make a call?”.'

The pair started their on-off affair in April and appeared inseparable again at the Oscars last month.

Shortly after the split, Mayer's Twitter update read: 'This heart didn't come with instructions.'

Robin Williams recovering after surgery

|

Funny man Robin Williams was said to be recovering well Monday from heart surgery and was even back to joking with his fans.

The three and a half hour operation was performed Friday at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and according to statements from his doctor the operation "went extremely well, and we expect him to make a full recovery."

The procedure "was conducted to replace his aortic valve, repair his mitral valve and correct his irregular heartbeat," said surgeon Marc Gillinov. "A couple hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh."

Williams was hospitalized earlier this month after falling ill on a comedy tour called Weapons of Self-Destruction. His spokeswoman, Mara Buxbaum, said he would resume his 80-city itinerary in the autumn, and quoted Williams as saying: "I'm thinking the next leg of the tour will be Weapons of Self-Destruction and Reconstruction."

Madge's fling may doom her adoption plans

|

Madge, 50, who wants to adopt 3-year-old Mercy James, has come under the scrutiny of Malawi's adoption officials, and they have very strict rules when it comes to adopting.

“Our official policy is that we do not encourage our children to be sent into broken homes,” the New York Daily News quoted a senior official from Malawi's Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Development, as saying.

“(Madonna's) relationships may negatively affect the adoption of Mercy. “The news she is linked to another woman's husband and a young man less than half her age makes us question her morals,” the official said.

When Madge was seen flaunting her relationship with Luz in a recent racy W Magazine spread it did not sit well with the officials, and Simon Chisale, Malawi's child welfare chief, said morality plays a big part in the adoption process.

“We do not only look at the material issues, but also the moral standing of prospective adoptive parents, because we do not want our children''s morals to be corrupted,” Chisale said. “We do not apply the law retroactively,” he added.

According to friends, the ‘Mean Girls’ star’s overspending is out of control, and it’s putting additional strain on the actress’ already volatile relationship.

Lindsay is spending like crazy! She’s living on credit right now. She has no cash. The problem is, the money being spent is mostly Sam’s because Lindsay doesn’t really have any of her own at the moment; she’s really taken on the ‘man’ role in their romance,” the New York Daily News quoted a pal, as saying.

“Sam really thinks Lindsay needs to learn how to become a recessionista and manage her money better,” the pal added.

Another pal said. “Lindsay’s money situation has never been great, but it’s only gotten worse over the last month. For every dollar she makes, she spends double.

“Her personal appearance fees are literally the only thing keeping her afloat. But here’s the rub: Because of her explosive relationship with Sam, she’s unable to get the type of cash she’s used to. The negative press and constant appearance cancellations are hurting her pocketbook,” the pal added.

A rep for Lindsay said: “I know nothing of her spending. But she has her own money.”

Poor old Amy Winehouse has been sent back to the drawing board after her record label knocked back her new songs, it was claimed today.

Her record label is reportedly unhappy with the reggae influence many of her offerings are tinged with.

Insiders also claim many of the tracks penned during her time away in the Caribbean are 'too dark' to feature on her upcoming third album, as they focus heavily on her broken marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil.

A source told The Sun: 'Amy was very productive during her stay in St Lucia. She wrote a hell of a lot of songs, but the majority of them aren't hitting the mark.'

A spokesman for the star played down the claims.

Katie Holmes Preparing To Go Public With Pregnancy?

domingo, 22 de marzo de 2009 |

Katie Holmes is ready to reveal that she is pregnant with her second child after months spent focusing on her career, it's claimed.

The showbiz mum - who is currently filming scenes for her new film The Extra Man - is reportedly itching to tell the world about hers and husband Tom Cruise's good news but because it is so early on in the pregnancy she doesn't want to jinx it.

OK! magazine report that Tom and his missus are, "deliriously happy that [daughter] Suri will be a big sister.

"They've always planned on expanding their family. They're over the moon."

But a rep for Katie denied the rumours stating, "There's no truth to that story."

Katie recently sparked concerns for her health following claims that the star was taking part in a detox regime called the Purification Rundown so she could fall pregnant.

On her way to filming Katie later laughed off the rumours by holding up a cup of coffee and grinning, "As you can see. I'm on my liquid diet right now."

Jennifer Aniston Called John Mayer ‘Brad’ in Bed?

sábado, 21 de marzo de 2009 |

According to new reports, Jennifer Aniston allegedly called boyfriend John Mayer ‘Brad’ in bed. Sources claim the actress’s mistake is what led to her recent split from Mayer.

Star magazine reports Mayer is set to write a tell-all book after his relationship with Aniston, who is said to still be in love with ex-husband Brad Pitt despite her many claims that she is “totally over” him.

Mayer has denied the tell-all book rumors with his rep telling gossip blogger Perez Hilton that they are contemplating legal action. “Even for them (Star magazine), it’s a new low. They’ve dressed themselves up but they’re not better than the Enquirer. Despite their love standards it’s still not ok to make up stories and print them,” the rep said. “Unfortunately, while we’re considering legal action, Star magazine is already at work on next week’s cover story about some reality TV star’s secret marriage to Elvis.”

Bruce Willis wedding speculation

|

Speculation is mounting that Bruce Willis is marrying British-born model Emma Heming in a secret island ceremony in the Caribbean.

The movie star is reportedly set to wed Heming at his home in the Turks and Caicos islands.

Willis, 54, has been in a relationship with Heming - who, with her long brown hair, has provoked comment over her resemblance to his previous wife Demi Moore - for more than a year.

The 30-year-old, raised in north London and California, has modelled for lingerie brand La Senza and made a handful of acting appearances.

The couple's wedding ceremony is thought to be taking place at the Die Hard star's house at "the world's most exclusive resort" on the private island Parrot Cay.

Former wife Moore and her husband Ashton Kutcher remain on good terms with the couple and will be guests at the wedding, according to People magazine.

In an online post, Kutcher posted a photo of his wife showing her "steam(ing) my suit while wearing a bikini", giving credence to reports they were attending the wedding.

At the Parrot Cay resort, guests enjoy a simple but luxurious aesthetic of white walls, cavernous bathrooms and four-poster beds, as well as "cosseting" service.

Boasting a mile-long stretch of white sand and set among pristine turquoise waters, the 1,000-acre island is just an hour's flight and a 25-minute speedboat ride away from Miami.

Willis has a house among a handful of villas located a few minutes away from the main resort, which enjoy an "empty and secure" private beach and allow travellers the villa experience with hotel services attached.

As a steady stream of celebrities pay their last respects to Natasha Richardson, questions are arising over whether a medical helicopter might have been able to save the ailing actress.

The province of Quebec lacks a medical helicopter system, common in the United States and other parts of Canada, to airlift stricken patients to major trauma centers. Montreal's top head trauma doctor said Friday that may have played a role in Richardson's death.

"It's impossible for me to comment specifically about her case, but what I could say is ... driving to Mont Tremblant from the city (Montreal) is a 2 1/2-hour trip, and the closest trauma center is in the city. Our system isn't set up for traumas and doesn't match what's available in other Canadian cities, let alone in the States," said Tarek Razek, director of trauma services for the McGill University Health Centre, which represents six of Montreal's hospitals.

While Richardson's initial refusal of medical treatment cost her two hours, she also had to be driven to two hospitals. She didn't arrive at a specialized hospital in Montreal until about four hours after the second 911 call from her hotel room at the Mont Tremblant resort, according to a timeline published by Canada's The Globe and Mail newspaper.

Not being airlifted directly to a trauma center could have cost Richardson crucial moments, Razek said.

"A helicopter is obviously the fastest way to get from Point A to Point B," he said.

After Richardson fell and hit her head on a beginner ski slope at the Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec, the first ambulance crew left upon spotting a sled taking the still-conscious actress away to the resort's on-site clinic.

A second 911 call was made two hours later from Richardson's luxury hotel room as the actress deteriorated. Medics tended to her for a half-hour before taking her to a hospital about a 40-minute drive away.

Centre Hospitalier Laurentien in Ste-Agathe does not specialize in head traumas, so her speedy transfer to Sacre Coeur Hospital in Montreal was critical, said Razek.

"It's one of the classic presentations of head injuries, `talking and dying,' where they may lose consciousness for a minute, but then feel fine," said Razek.

Richardson, 45, died Wednesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. The New York City medical examiner's office ruled her death was an accident.

On Friday evening, Richardson's husband, Liam Neeson, looked distraught but grateful for the outpouring of sympathy as he greeted grieving family members and friends who attended a private viewing for his wife.

Neeson was the last to leave the viewing at the Upper East Side's American Irish Historical Society, where he was joined by the couple's sons, — Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12 — as well as Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, and sister, Joely Richardson. An array of famous friends came to express their sadness about the family's sudden loss.

Neeson hugged friends as he left the society's building at 8:40 p.m., after more than six hours of receiving condolences from friends including Mike Nichols, Diane Sawyer, Matthew Modine, Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Also among the stream of visitors were Kenneth Cole, Laura Linney, Fisher Stevens, Howard Stern, Stanley Tucci, Julianna Margulies and Mathilde Krim of the American Foundation of AIDS Research — amfAR. Richardson had served on the charity's board of trustees since 2006.

"She looked incredibly beautiful," Krim said, adding that everyone appeared to be in shock and Neeson looked distraught as he received everybody.

Theaters in London's West End dimmed their lights Friday to mark Richardson's death, just as Broadway theaters did Thursday. In a tribute to the stage and screen actress, the lights were lowered before the curtains went up on evening performances.

Madonna upset with beau

viernes, 20 de marzo de 2009 |

The 50-year-old 'Queen of Pop' reportedly had a fight with her Brazilian model boyfriend as she found him chatting on his mobile phone in her presence.

"'And she just turned on him. She told him it was rude for him to take a phone call in front of her," the Daily Mail quoted a source as saying.

Luz, who is 28 years junior to Madonna reportedly shot back saying the singer was being unreasonable.

"He stood up for himself and they had quite a heated argument. Madonna agreed to let him answer the mobile when she's around, but only in emergencies," the source added.

But Jesus is reportedly upset with Madonna's controlling nature as he feels cut-off from his family in Brazil.

"If her phone rings and she wants to take the call, she'll do it. This is not a relationship of equals," the source said.

"His family claims they always know when he's with her because they can't get him on the phone," the source said. "And it's true. He'll see his phone ringing and he just has to let it go."

But the 22-year-old is hoping to remedy the situation soon, declaring that she is currently in talks with a number of people.

The Mean Girls star is rarely out of the newspapers due to her seemingly rocky relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson.

Robert Pattinson's sexy mission

|

Robert Pattinson knows how to be sexy.

It doesn't matter if he is wearing the dirtiest jeans or a designer suit - he is simply the sexiest guy on the planet.

Rob told The Inquirer how he made Edward Cullen sexy.

He said: "A lot of it has to do with not speaking - like that always makes somebody more attractive.

"I wasn't really trying to play Edward as a sexy guy, though. He's not very sexy in the book. It's like he's just kind of mysterious and his whole personality works from a template. So it creates more mystery and whatever he says seems very contrived.

"He always has a completely opposite thought to what he's saying in his head. He's always hiding things.

"A lot of the attraction to someone is always frustration and that's what a lot of the story is."

Rocker Fred Durst is the "kiss and tell" type.

The leadman is still revisiting an old alleged tryst with (at the time) 21-year old Britney Spears, a claim she brushes off as his infatuation, not hers, according to People.com.

Durst, who has already publicly hashed over the brief 2003 romance with Britney Spears is once again speaking out about the moment and saying they were "indeed a couple."

"It just became a fiasco of madness," Durst, 38, tells MTV News."[But] I always stay true to my heart and true to everything I did and my intentions, and I am in no way a liar."

Ground zero for the alleged short-term love affair was the 2003 American Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Durst went public, confessing on the radio with Howard Stern and even posted his feelings on his band's Web site at the time that he had "never felt this way."

At that time, Spears ignored Durst's remarks.

Spears played off the Durst ardor. "I think him for me, but not me for him," she told the British version of Glamour magazine. "He's said some pretty amazing things about me. But, um, I think he leaped in too deep, too quick."

Now revisiting the old news, People.com reports that Durst is talking once again and says "he's still a bit confused about how everything unraveled but describes it as an episode of her bizarre behavior."

"I look back on it as very interesting [in terms of] how things have been sort of unraveling for her since," he tells People.com. "[But] it is what it is. I can sleep at night knowing I made decisions that I wanted to make. [Still] I'm a supporter. I was then, I guess I am now."

"I just guess at the time it was taboo for a guy like me to be associated with a gal like her," he adds.

Miley Cyrus, the 16-year-old 'Hannah Montana' star, has been told to "grow up" by Radiohead. The young star is alleged to have threatened to "ruin them" after being snubbed by the band at last month's Grammys. The group issued a statement which said: "When Miley grows up, she'll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement."

Frontman Thom Yorke also took a swipe at Miley and rapper Kanye West - who has also complained about being snubbed by the band. He wrote on their Dead Air Space blog: "Wish us all a safe journey if you still like us and you're not one of those people I have managed to offend by doing nothing."

Rihanna just can't escape the drama at the moment after the blacked out jeep she was travelling in was pulled over by cops in LA.

But it was her driver who was landed in it this time, after police reportedly handed him a ticket for having no front license plates.

The 21-year-old shrugged off the drama and wasted no time partying with her girlfriends at Hollywood's Les Deux nightclub.

Reports she has made a permanent break from shamed boyfriend Chris Brown, look even more ominous as the 19-year-old was nowhere to be seen as the Umbrella star partied with her four mates for over three hours Wednesday night.

Actress Natasha Richardson died Wednesday in a New York hospital from head injuries incurred in what had seemed to be a minor skiing fall, her family announced.

The family had gathered at her bedside Wednesday for a final, tragic vigil after the British born actress, 45, was critically injured Monday in the skiing accident in Canada's Quebec province.

"Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha," said a statement released by publicist Alan Nierob. "They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."

The statement late Wednesday came after numerous reports had said that Richardson was brain dead and that her family members were facing the agonizing decision to take her off life support. People magazine had earlier quoted a family friend as saying that Richardson had "no chance."

Richardson was born into a theatrical family on May 11, 1963, in London. Her father, Tony Richardson, was a director who won an Oscar for Tom Jones, while her mother, Vanessa Redgrave, won the supporting-actress Academy Award for 1977's Julia.

She made her own impact on the film world in the Ken Russell movie Gothic in 1986. Richardson also starred in the 1988 movie Patty Hearst, The Handmaid's Tale in 1990 and Nell in 1994, when she appeared with Neeson, whom she married later that year. The couple have two sons, Micheal Richard Antonio, 13, and Daniel Jack, 12, who were reportedly skiing with her when the accident happened.

Later films included the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap and Wild Child in 2008. She was an accomplished stage actress, winning a Tony for her performance as Sally Bowles in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret.

Just before the skiing accident, Richardson was considering a Broadway revival with her mother of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music, following a highly praised one-night January staging at New York's Studio 54.

Richardson was injured Monday afternoon in a seemingly harmless fall while skiing on a bunny slope at the Mont Tremblant resort, 125 kilometres north-west of Montreal.

According to a spokesperson for the ski resort, Richardson fell during a private lesson on a beginner slope while not wearing a helmet. She managed to walk back to her room and was laughing and joking but was taken to hospital an hour later when she started having headaches.

After her condition turned gravely worse, she was flown on Tuesday back to New York on a private jet.

Kim Kardashian is coming to Lindsay Lohan's defense amid speculation that the troubled star is spiraling out of control – yet again.

Kardashian's concern follows a weekend for Lohan, 22, in which she was issued a short-lived arrest warrant and witnessed the arrival of police at girlfriend Samantha Ronson's home on Saturday after a loud disturbance at the home led to a broken window.

"It's so sad that there's such an invasion of privacy, with camera people, cops and paparazzi outside their home," Kardashian, 28, told PEOPLE Monday.

"I mean, when have you not thrown something when you're mad?," says Kardashian. "Everyone has to admit that at one time in their life, they've gotten so mad that they've thrown something, but maybe not necessarily breaking a window."

Can't people have an argument without everyone watching?," asks Kardashian, who recently came to the defense of another star, Jessica Simpson.

Why Blame Lindsay?
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also scoffs at buzz that Lohan, who has had previous stints in rehab, is spiraling out of control. "Just because she had an argument, I don't think it means that she's off track and that everything is crazy. It's really just messed up that everyone blames her."

Her tips for coping with the scrutiny? "Focus on living your life and not the watchful eye everyone has on her," says Kardashian, who appears in a steamy pictorial with football player boyfriend Reggie Bush in the upcoming GQ. "I think everyone needs to let her breathe."

And as for some motherly advice, Kim's mom, Kris Jenner adds, "[Lindsay]'s got an amazing mom, a beautiful sister and brothers, so just stay close to your family anytime you're having struggles with anything."

"Everyone's concerned about Lindsay," says Jenner, "but leave her the heck alone and let her live her life."

Britney Spears ‘not dating’ her agent

lunes, 16 de marzo de 2009 |

Rumours of romance started making rounds after the Toxic hitmaker was spotted enjoying a romantic meal with her agent Jason Trawick in between the singer’s Circus tour dates.

Reports suggested that the pair had recently begun dating, after four years of working together.

However, insiders have hit out at the rumours, insisting the two share a purely professional and platonic relationship.

"They are absolutely, 100 percent not dating. He is her agent, and that is it,” Contactmusic quoted a source, as telling UsWeekly.com.

"They have never gone out on a date. He has been her agent for four years, and they are very close friends. Jason was on the road with Britney for three of her tour dates, but that is because that’s what agents do -- they support their clients. Any stories of them being together are completely and utterly made up," the source added.

Lindsay Lohan is no longer wanted by police.

A Beverly Hills judge removed an arrest warrant Monday after Lohan's attorney provided proof to the court in the judge's chambers that the star has been compliant with her alcohol education classes. Lohan did not appear in court.

"The warrant is quashed and set aside," Judge Marsha Revel said. "I've seen additional proof ... that Lohan has been compliant with [her] program. There is no indication of dirty [drug] tests." The judge also ordered that Lohan show new proof of enrollment by April 3.

On Friday, the court had issued a $50,000 arrest warrant for the actress, which her lawyer said was "born out of a misunderstanding."

"This was all much to do about nothing," Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley said following the hearing Monday. "[Lohan] has satisfied all the conditions of her probation, and I have every expectation that she'll successfully complete those terms."

Chapman explained that a miscommunication with the court occurred "when she had been in one program but left that program" for another due to a "personality conflict."

"It was just a misunderstanding," Holley added. "She's been doing everything right."

Following a wild night out in Hollywood on Friday, in which Lohan, 22, ended up visiting the home of actor Jack Nicholson, the actress holed up at girlfriend Samantha Ronson's house all weekend.

On Saturday, a loud disturbance was heard at Ronson's house, which led to a window breaking, which sources say was due to a fight between the couple. Police eventually arrived after callers complained of the crush of paparazzi that had gathered outside.

Lohan is currently serving a three-year probation term for her second DUI conviction, in August 2007.

Jennifer Aniston's dreams of having 's***-loads of fun' as a future Bond Girl took a step closer to reality after producers offered her a screen test to the follow up to Quantum of Solace starring Daniel Craig as 007.

An insider at EON productions behind the Bond movies, reportedly said: 'Jennifer has all the qualities we are looking for in a Bond girl. She has to be beautiful but she also needs to have brains.

'It helps if she's athletic and able to keep up with intense stunt work a Bond movie demands.

'It is likely she'll be called in to meet producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson soon.'

The call-up comes after the Friends star, 40, recently confessed: 'I get offered funny, quirky, pretty roles. But I'd love to do an action movie. James Bond - glamour. Daniel Craig. S***-loads of fun.'

Meanwhile, former Bond star Sir Roger Moore said he doesn't rate the last Bond film Quantum of Solace.

The 82-year-old told Absolute Radio's Who's Calling Christian competition: 'I enjoy Daniel Craig, I think he's a damn good Bond but the film as a whole, there was a bit too much flash cutting for me.'

'I thought Casino Royale was better. It was just like a commercial of the action. There didn't seem to be any geography and you were wondering what the hell was going on but there you are, call me old fashioned and an old fuddy duddy!'

Robert Pattinson's cheat mistake

|

Robert Pattinson made a big mistake when he thought his girlfriend was cheating on him.

Robert revealed all to GQ magazine.

He said: "I remember when I was a teenager thinking my girlfriend was cheating on me, and going around riling myself up. Pretending to cry.

"It was totally illegitimate — I actually didn't feel anything. I went to some pub and then went crying all the way home.

"And I got into my dog's bed. I was crying and holding on to the dog. I woke up in the morning, and the dog was looking at me like, 'You're a fake.'"

To make things worse Rob found out that his girlfriend hadn't even cheated on him.

He explains: "I thought I'd seen her with another guy, but she wasn't even there. I spent three days apologizing to the dog."

Rob absolutely adores his dog Patty and hates having to leave her in London with his parents.

He won't get to see her for a while as he is filming New Moon and Eclipse back to back.

Chris Brown and Rihanna have not recorded a duet.

The couple - who have reconciled after Chris allegedly assaulted Rihanna in his rented Lamborghini car last month - were said to be working on a track for the 'Run It' singer's forthcoming album but record company sources insist they have not been in the studio together.

A source said: "Contrary to published reports, Chris Brown and Rihanna did not record a duet after the incident. Nothing has been recorded by Chris and Rihanna together since February."

It is believed the duet speculation comes as the result of a song called 'Bad Girl' which 19-year-old Chris was working on with Polow Da Don and enlisted his girlfriend to sing reference vocals - a guide for the artist who will eventually record the song - on the demo.

The source added to People magazine: "Around August or September of 2008, Chris and Rihanna's vocals were recorded as the reference vocals for this demo only. But the song was never conceived or intended to be a duet between them, and was later recorded by other artists."

'Bad Girl' was eventually recorded by Pussycat Dolls for the 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' soundtrack.

Last week, Chris was charged with two felonies - assault and making criminal threats - in relation to the alleged attack on Rihanna.

He is yet to enter a plea, but if convicted he faces a maximum of four years eight months in prison.

Tyra Banks 'concerned' over model riot

|

America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks says she is "concerned" after an audition for her show ended with six people injured and three arrests.

Thousands of modelling hopefuls were queuing outside a hotel in Manhattan, New York, when bedlam broke out.

Police cancelled the audition but could not say what had sparked the panic.

Banks and the show's producer Ken Mok said: "We are concerned by the events. We still don't know all the details of what triggered the incident."

They added: "We appreciate the efforts of the NYPD and will assist them in any way possible in this matter."

Reports suggest the incident involved a man charging into the crowd in an attempt to steal handbags.

Sleeping bags

Clothes and shoes were abandoned in the street as women tried to escape the melee.

Some of those waiting in line at the Park Central New York hotel had camped out overnight with chairs and sleeping bags to get their shot at fame.

Of those injured, only two were taken to hospital, according to the New York fire department.

Two women and a man were arrested on charges of inciting to riot and disorderly conduct.

This 13th series of the reality show is seeking 12 finalists who are shorter than the average model, with auditions only open to those under 5ft 7ins.

Fronted by supermodel Banks, it is broadcast on CW in the US and Living in the UK.

Britney Spears secretly dating her manager

sábado, 14 de marzo de 2009 |

Jade Goody on the 'edge of a precipice'

|

Cancer-stricken Jade Goody is on the "edge of a precipice", her publicist has said after an emergency incident.

A nurse called husband Jack Tweed to her home on Friday night after the former Big Brother contestant was panicking and in pain.

Mr Clifford said: "She was in a bad way last night, she was panicking.

"The nurse was obviously concerned and decided she should call Jack.

"He went over and calmed her down and she went to sleep. She settled down and had a comfortable night."

Asked if this meant Goody was close to the end, Mr Clifford said: "She has deteriorated, she is very weak. The answer is, who knows? We are on the edge of a precipice."

He said Tweed was allowed to break his curfew in cases of emergency.

Tweed, 21, has to wear a tag after his release from prison for hitting a teenager with a golf club. Under his bail conditions he must be at his mother Mary's house between 7pm and 7am every day.

Officials lifted the curfew for his wedding night and after Goody underwent an operation on her bowel last week. The terms of his curfew were reportedly changed again on Friday to allow him to spend Thursday and Saturday nights with his wife.

Mr Clifford said Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty was flying into the country early next week to see Goody.

Michael Jackson shows sell out

|

Michael Jackson's 50-show London residency has sold out.

Around 500,000 tickets, worth between £50 and $75, went on sale at 7am yesterday morning (13.03.09) and were quickly snapped up by eager fans.

Organiser AEG Live say every night of the 'Thriller' singer's 'This Is It' tour - dubbed his last ever UK performances - were sold before mid-day.

A further 360,000 pre-sale tickets were sold earlier this week at a rate of 333-a-minute.

Thousands of fans from around the world camped outside The 02 for days to secure the first general sale tickets. Most passed the time by singing Jackson's most famous hits and chanting his name.

Others jammed phone lines and crashed the singer's official website as they scrambled to get seats.

Thousands missed out on tickets, which are already selling on the black market for up to £16,000 a pair.

Jackson - who has returned to the US for rehearsals - is reportedly "ecstatic" about the sales figures and very "excited" about performing live.

President and CEO of AEG Live Randy Phillips revealed the cash-strapped star will make between £50 and £100 million from the shows.

Phillips said: "We organised 10 shows but we we're not sure what the demand would be - but we really misjudged it. We could sell more than one million tickets. We could have kept going.

"We could have done 150 shows as people would go more than one time. Michael Jackson is fantastic. He is physically and mentally ready to get back in the game.

"I'm not going to pretend the money is not a factor, but he is really doing it for the kids - they are old enough and he is young enough to still do it the way he did before."

The 50-year-old singer will begin his eight-month residency in July.

Clooney cameo boosts ER ratings

|

George Clooney's brief return to US TV in medical series ER gave the show its highest ratings in two years, as the long-running series draws to a close.

Clooney's comeback episode, which also featured former regulars Noah Wyle (Dr Carter) and Eriq La Salle (Dr Benton) saw a 23% increase in viewers.

ER, US TV's top-rated drama for several years in the 1990s, thrust Clooney, 47, into the Hollywood spotlight.

The actor left in 1999 to pursue a film career, winning an Oscar in 2005.

In the same year that he picked up the award for best supporting actor in Syriana, Clooney was also nominated for best director and best original screenplay for his work on Good Night, and Good Luck.

Ratings slump

ER, set in the emergency room of a fictional Chicago hospital, was the most popular show on television in 1995, averaging 32 million viewers a week.

But - now in its 15th, and final, series - the show barely manages 8 million viewers per episode.

After Clooney made a brief cameo on the show in 2000 - which saw him settling down with his on-screen partner Carol Hathaway (played by Julianna Margulies) - it was widely reported he would not return.

Other former stars of the show have also featured in the final series, including Laura Innes (Dr Weaver) and Anthony Edwards (Dr Greene) - whose character appeared in flashback, having died of brain cancer in 2002.

Thursday's Old Times episode, which also marked a guest appearance by Susan Sarandon, gave ER it best ratings since February 2007 with an audience average of 10.7 million.

The Clooney episode will screen on More4 on 14 May. The final episode will air in the US on 2 April.

Jennifer Aniston dumped by Mayer

|

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have split up.

The 40-year-old actress was reportedly dumped by her musician boyfriend after she returned from her visit to the UK to promote new movie 'Marley and Me'.

A source said: "They had some disagreements and decided to not continue to see each other. Jennifer is moving on with her life like she always does. She seems happy."

While the beauty was doing her promotional European tour, the 31-year-old singer remained in the US to concentrate on his own career.

The split comes just weeks after John joined the 'He's Just Not That Into You' actress at the prestigious Oscars ceremony and follows reports he was planning to propose with a £2 million ring.

This is not the first time the John, 31, has separated from Jennifer, 40.

Last summer he cooled things off between them so he could work out his true feelings.

At the time he said: "I ended a relationship to be alone because I don't want to waste anybody's time if something's not right."

Jennifer, 40, recently admitted she didn't expect their romance to last forever.

The former 'Friends' star - whose ex-husband is Brad Pitt - said: "Who ever said that every relationship has to last forever? That's hoping for too much. I think every relationship is a world unto itself."

Anna Nicole Smith's attorney and boyfriend as well as two doctors were charged with supplying drugs to the US model, who overdosed in 2007, news reports said.

Lawyer Howard K Stern, 40, and physicians Sandeep Kapoor, 40, and Khristine Eroshevich, 61, were charged Thursday with prescribing controlled substances, obtaining fraudulent prescriptions and conspiracy to supply an addict with controlled substances.

Prosecutors accused the trio of doing so beginning nearly three years before Smith's death in Florida at the age of 39.

"These individuals furnished thousands of prescription pills to Anna Nicole Smith, often for no legitimate medical purpose," California Attorney General Jerry Brown said in a statement.

"She was obviously addicted," Brown added. "These doctors had a medical obligation to prescribe medicine in a professional way. Evidence will show this did not happen."

The doctors were also charged with making out fraudulent prescriptions and Stern was accused of funnelling the drugs to the former Playboy playmate and reality television star.

Stern and Kapoor were arrested Thursday, and Eroshevich was expected to turn herself in Monday, Brown said.

Prescriptions for sleeping pills and muscle relaxers were found in the hotel room where Smith was found unconscious before being pronounced dead. Most of the prescriptions were in Stern's name.

Gloom is looming for Britney Spears' ex-lover Adnan Ghalib who is facing threat of being deported to war-torn Afghanistan should he be found guilty of a hit and run.

Paparazzi Ghalib, raised in Birmingham, reportedly faces being shipped off after it was revealed many of his legal documents reportedly state he is from the country of his birth and not Britain.

Details emerged after legal officials claimed serious criminals are sent back to their country of citizenship, even if they hold a US green card.

The paparazzo, currently out on bail, will appear in an LA court on April 2 charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit-and-run.

The charges were made after he allegedly ran down a court server on February 11, who was attempting to serve him with a restraining order against the pop star, filed by her dad Jamie.

A Los Angeles police insider claimed: 'The country of citizenship listed on the legal files is where someone convicted of a serious crime will be deported to whether they hold a green card or not.'

'There is some confusion on his court documents over where he comes from. Some list the country as Afghanistan, but another states his nationality as British.'

The 36-year-old initially moved to Birmingham after leaving Asia aged 5, before relocating to America to work.

The process server claims Ghalib ran him over and fled the scene, leaving him with a broken wrist, cuts and scratches.

An insider explained: 'If found guilty he could be jailed for a number of years. These are some of the most serious crimes in the US. The American justice system comes down heavily on people convicted of such felonies.'

Ghalib became a regular fixture in Britney's life at the end of 2007 as her life went into meltdown. She dumped him last year in March before he was accused of meddling with her life during her vulnerable state.

Since he has tried to sell a kiss-and-tell story and is rumoured to be in possession of a damaging sex tape. He father claims the pair still have text contact.

Meanwhile, it is revealed Britney's teen sister, young mum Jamie is to launch her own music career after making a country demo tape.
