Gloom is looming for Britney Spears' ex-lover Adnan Ghalib who is facing threat of being deported to war-torn Afghanistan should he be found guilty of a hit and run.
Paparazzi Ghalib, raised in Birmingham, reportedly faces being shipped off after it was revealed many of his legal documents reportedly state he is from the country of his birth and not Britain.
Details emerged after legal officials claimed serious criminals are sent back to their country of citizenship, even if they hold a US green card.
The paparazzo, currently out on bail, will appear in an LA court on April 2 charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit-and-run.
The charges were made after he allegedly ran down a court server on February 11, who was attempting to serve him with a restraining order against the pop star, filed by her dad Jamie.
A Los Angeles police insider claimed: 'The country of citizenship listed on the legal files is where someone convicted of a serious crime will be deported to whether they hold a green card or not.'
'There is some confusion on his court documents over where he comes from. Some list the country as Afghanistan, but another states his nationality as British.'
The 36-year-old initially moved to Birmingham after leaving Asia aged 5, before relocating to America to work.
The process server claims Ghalib ran him over and fled the scene, leaving him with a broken wrist, cuts and scratches.
An insider explained: 'If found guilty he could be jailed for a number of years. These are some of the most serious crimes in the US. The American justice system comes down heavily on people convicted of such felonies.'
Ghalib became a regular fixture in Britney's life at the end of 2007 as her life went into meltdown. She dumped him last year in March before he was accused of meddling with her life during her vulnerable state.
Since he has tried to sell a kiss-and-tell story and is rumoured to be in possession of a damaging sex tape. He father claims the pair still have text contact.
Meanwhile, it is revealed Britney's teen sister, young mum Jamie is to launch her own music career after making a country demo tape.
