Lindsay Lohan in Playboy – Will She or Won’t She?

viernes, 29 de febrero de 2008 |

It's no secret that Lindsay Lohan has been approached by Hugh Hefner to do her very own spread in the prestigious Playboy Magazine - but whether she will accept the offer remains in the air.

Lilo caught the eye of the Playboy mogul when she stripped down for New York magazine, recreating nude photos shot of Marilyn Monroe back in the day.

And while the photos proved to be a success (New York magazine had so many visitors to their website that it actually crashed), many are wondering whether Lindsay will see another nude photo shoot as a career-breaker instead of a booster.

Her first photo shoot seemed to be a career boost, considering her name was searched online more than Britney Spears in the week following the shoot's release, but will stripping down again seem like a desperate plea for attention?

We think so. In fact, we thought the first one was a desperate plea for attention.

But, chances are, Lohan will take the deal - after all, both her mom and her little sister Ali praised Lindsay for doing a good job in the first shoot.

We wouldn't be surprised if Lindsay does Playboy.

It's no big deal, really. It's not the first time millions of people will see unmentionables - and it probably won't be the last.

Heath Ledger's doctors under scrutiny

|

The Australian actor, 28, was found dead in his downtown New York apartment on January 22.

An autopsy - whose results were announced earlier this month - blamed an accidental mixture of prescription drugs, said New York City's Chief Medical Examiner.

"We are investigating doctors in Los Angeles and Texas with regard to Ledger's prescriptions," the source tells People.com

However, the source did not say whether any wrongdoing is involved, saying, "We don't know yet.

"The agents were there this week, and we are waiting to hear from them."

The doctors in question are thought to have supplied Ledger with Oxycontin and Vicodin, law enforcement sources tell New York's Daily News.

"At issue is whether or not the powerful painkiller were prescribed legally," says the newspaper.

The subpoenaing of Ledger's autopsy results by the Drug Enforcement Administration was reported shortly after the findings of the report were announced.

On February 6, it was said that the DEA would look into the source of the actor's prescriptions.

Besides Oxycodone and Vicodin (also known as Hydrocodone), autopsy results also showed that Ledger's system contained Diazepam (commonly called Valium), as well as Temazepam, which treats anxiety or sleeplessness; Alprazolam (also known as Xanax); and Doxylamine, a sedating antihistamine often used as a sleeping aid.

On February 9, Ledger's former girlfriend, Michelle Williams who is mother of his two-year-old daughter, Matilda - joined Cate Blanchett, Ledger's family and hundreds of mourners at a memorial in Australia for the actor.

Perez Hilton caught up in sex tape scandal

|

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been caught up in a sex-tape scandal in a turnaround that demonstrates the gossip giant’s burgeoning influence.

Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira, tried to persuade another young blogger to send in sex tapes of himself in exchange for promotion, the New York Post reports.

Former publicist and gossip writer Jonathan Jaxson, who founded the site JJ's Dirt, told the newspaper he sent Hilton sexually explicit tapes of himself so that Hilton would help him break into the big time.

"He would tell me he would give me stories for my blog," Jaxson told the Post.

"He used me."

Hilton's site Perezhilton.com is one of the most visited celebrity blogs online, with Hilton claiming more than eight million page-views an hour during heavy traffic periods.

There is also speculation the 29-year-old may branch out into managing a record label.

The Post claims to have instant messenger records of chats between Jaxson and Hilton, who allegedly said in one "you should totally make a sex tape", and when Jaxson replied saying he would, Hilton wrote "Hot! Do it now!".

"I fell in love with Perez — I thought he had a huge heart — but he's just an a***hole," Jaxson told the Post.

Hilton has not commented on the matter.

Hilton (as Lavandeira) began his career writing for a variety of gay magazines in Los Angeles before a friend suggested he consider starting a blog.

By 2004 his first site, PageSixSixSix.com, was born and quickly made its mark, being named "Hollywood's Most-Hated Website" by a US gossip television show within six months of its start-up.

PageSixSixSix became Perezhilton.com in 2005, coinciding with Lavandeira's name change.

Mischa Barton May Join Cast of Gossip Girl

|

We’re not saying that there were high-fives exchanged and champagne corks flying around this very office when Mischa Barton’s character was killed off The OC, but, well… okay, there were. It was the best day in TV history.

Maybe that’s taking it a bit far. But let’s just say we’re not entirely thrilled by recent rumors of Mischa Barton joining the cast of Gossip Girl.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports that the rumor of Barton being offered a role are true, but what isn’t 100 percent is whether or not a deal will be struck for her to play the recurring role of Georgina Sparks.

No relation to Jordin Sparks, Georgina is reportedly an evil girl who brings the checkered past of Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) into her present.

It’s fair to say that Kate Moss and Kelly Osbourne weren’t looking their best at the end of a boozy session at a London nightspot.

The party pals looked more than a little worse for wear as they were snapped leaving Punk nightclub after what appeared to be a VERY long night on the lash.

A disheveled Kate attempted to cover her face with her straggly hair but was unable to disguise her stained stained tights.

Close-cropped Kelly, meanwhile, didn’t have that option, leaving her make-up-smeared face open to scrutiny.

An onlooker tells The Sun: "Kate and Kelly had to be helped to their car as they looked very unsteady on their feet. It must have been a good night."

Brad Pitt: 'It's Twins!'

jueves, 28 de febrero de 2008 |

Brad Pitt has confided in a friend that his partner Angelina Jolie is carrying twins.

Having debuted the baby bump at The Independent Spirit Awards this past weekend, the actor has began telling his pals about the new arrivals, according to The Daily Mail.

A friend of the couple tells the Mail Online: "Brad's been very quiet about this pregnancy so far but this was the weekend he decided to let the cat out of the bag.

“He's telling everybody close to him, because he's having to change around his work schedule to get ready for the birth.

"They're having twins, Angelina is healthy, and he's thrilled that he's going to be a father once again.

"They didn't exactly plan this pregnancy, but they wanted more children and Brad says Angelina was very willing to have them herself."

Despite reports that the couple are expecting just one child, a girl, and that she is to be raised in France, the insider claims these rumours are false and the twins are to be born somewhere closer to home.

The friend added: "They want to have these children in Los Angeles or New Orleans. I don't think Brad wants to isolate himself and the family again like he did when Shiloh was born.

"But he's also probably not going to take on a major acting role before the birth either, so he can focus on making sure Angelina is happy, healthy and comfortable."

Britain's Prince Harry in Afghanistan

|

Prince Harry has been serving on the front line in Afghanistan with the British Army, the Ministry of Defense said Thursday.

Officials said the prince, a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment, was still deployed in the country.

"His conduct on operations in Afghanistan has been exemplary," said the head of the army. Gen. Richard Dannatt. "He has been fully involved in operations and has run the same risks as everyone else in his battle group."

Harry, who is third in line to the throne, has been in Afghanistan since December. The story was leaked by an Australian magazine and a German newspaper.

Dannatt said he was "very disappointed" that the story had leaked.

Harry, 23, has been fighting in the restive Helmand province, where most of the 7,800 British troops in Afghanistan are based.

Last year military chiefs ruled Harry could not be sent to Iraq with his regiment because publicity surrounding his deployment could put him and his unit at risk.

Will & Jada looked genuinely excited about all the paparazzi outside though, and even gave up a kiss for the cameras (take our word for it.) TomKat, not so much.

Kate secretly dating Timberlake

|

Rumours are abuzz that actress Kate Hudson is secretly dating Justin Timberlake. According to sources, the 28-year-old actress has been secretly seeing the popstar for the past one year.

"Kate is very private and refuses to be seen with him in public," The New York Post quoted the source, as saying. "She doesn't want to be humiliated like Cameron Diaz was when he dumped her. But they talk every day on the phone and see each other often," the source added.

Reps for Hudson and Timberlake have however dismissed the speculations. Recently, Hudson revealed that she might one day reunite with her ex-husband Chris Robinson, but would never marry again.

Maxim Apologizes to Black Crowes

|

Facing more criticism over rating albums without listening to them, Maxim magazine maintains it was previewing CDs in its March issue, not reviewing them, and the mistake was to include star ratings.

Maxim editorial director James Kaminsky told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the magazine had erred in presenting unreleased albums by the Black Crowes and Nas as reviews and judging them with stars.

"I will be the last person to mince words here: This is a mistake," Kaminsky said. "It's a mistake that won't happen again, but it's not a mistake that appears in other parts of (the magazine's entertainment section). ... There should be no blurry line between what's a preview and what's a review."

The fiasco started last week when the Crowes posted a statement on their Web site lashing out at Maxim for publishing a negative review of their new album "Warpaint" by a writer who hadn't listened to the full disc. The assessment said: "They sound pretty much like they always have: boozy, competent, and in slavish debt to the Stones, the Allmans, and the Faces."

The band said such a verdict — two-and-a-half stars out of five — was impossible since advance copies of the CD, out next Tuesday, weren't made available.

Kaminsky issued a statement apologizing to readers for the write-up and wavering from the magazine's policy of only rating albums that have been heard in their entirety.

Tuesday's mea culpa wasn't enough for the Crowes' manager, Pete Angelus, who later responded that Maxim was doing "self-serving damage control."

"It comes as no surprise that Maxim has elected to apologize to their readers now that the world has been informed of their deception; however, that is not full accountability," Angelus said Tuesday.

In his interview with the AP, Kaminsky officially apologized to the Crowes — and again, to the readers. He said that to his knowledge, this was the first time Maxim had rated an album in a preview, under the heading "Playlist."

"We have often run previews, which are based on the fact that an album is coming out ... but (those in the March issue) should not have had star ratings attached to (them)," he said. "There was a bit of a breakdown that led to that happening and I'm looking into it and, as I've said, we've already put measures in place to ensure that that will not happen again."

Rapper Nas told Wednesday's New York Post that he was surprised that Maxim had given his unfinished album 2 1/2 stars. His representative said it has not been played for anyone, but the "preview" in Maxim described some of the music as "downright radio friendly."

Jason Fine, executive editor of Rolling Stone magazine, said its magazine reviewed the Crowes' "Warpaint" only after listening to it: "We never review a record without hearing the whole thing."

Fine said magazines are hitting roadblocks nowadays since full albums are being held from reviewers because of piracy concerns.

"It's becoming more and more difficult for publications ... to review records because the big records are the most difficult ones to get," he said. "The record labels are increasingly worries about leaks."

Sean Fennessy, associate music editor for Vibe magazine, agreed. Fennessy said Vibe reviewers often attend label-run listening sessions to hear an unreleased album.

The Associated Press does not plan to review the Crowes' disc because it is not being provided prior to the release date.

"Warpaint" is the Black Crowes' first album in seven years. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution."

The band's hits include "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels."

As far as the Crowes' reaction to the controversy, Angelus told the AP on Wednesday: "They don't really read musical reviews. But of course they are very aware of this situation, and you know, they think it's highly unethical."

They're the hottest new couple in Hollywood, and now Ben Affleck is speaking out about how he hooked up with late-night host Jimmy Kimmel for their parody video response to Matt Damon and Sarah Silverman – as well as the secret bathtub scene that got cut.

Affleck tells EW.com: "I remember seeing Matt's and thinking to myself, 'Oh, it would be funny to do one with me and Jimmy.' They called and immediately I was like, 'Yes, it should be this idea ...,' and they had the same idea more or less already. I have a lot of respect for the group over there – they're really good comedians – so I just committed to it."

The actor says the singing was more difficult than wearing a pair of short shorts, but he acknowledges, "You couldn't really do it half-speed. You had to be painting toes and blow-drying hair. At one point we were going to take a bath together, but the bubbles couldn't get high enough, so that ended up getting scrapped."

Adnan: 'Britney Spears Is Having My Baby'

miércoles, 27 de febrero de 2008 |

Britney Spears’ sometime boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is reportedly bragging to pals that the troubled singer is expecting his child.

The pop mess first set tongues wagging when she was snapped last week looking distinctly rounder in the middle, despite daily workouts at the Millennium Dance Complex in L.A.

Now a U.S. magazine is claiming that the paparazzo is telling friends that Brit’s bulging belly is not the result of too many daddy diner dates but because she is, indeed, with child.

One friend tells Star: "Britney is Adnan's dream come true. He knows that if he has a child with Brit, he'll be made for life.”

This comes hot on the heels of reports that Brit and Adnan tied the knot during their brief jaunt to Mexico in early January.

We suspect Brit’s parents are considerably less enthusiastic at the prospect of another grandchild.

You might have to look twice, but this is Gwen Stefani on the cover of V’s March/April 2008 cover. It’s a fantatic example of how with the right hair, make up and clothes, you can look 20 years younger. I love that Gwen’s pale skin contrasts so dramatically against the bright patterned dress, strawberry blonde hair and sharp black head piece.

Though when you consider that it was photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott photographed it (they also photographed the Kristen Dunst for Miu Miu spring campaign) it shouldn’t come as such a surprise as it is a signature of theirs.

This Stefani cover is just one of three V covers she will grace for the March/April 2008 issue. Do you love or hate it?

Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt have reportedly settled on France as the place where they will have their next child in France to honour the actress’ late French-Canadian mother Marcheline Bertrand.

And, the source added that Jolie was especially thrilled that her baby would be a girl. “Angelina has been told she is expecting a girl. She’s thrilled,” The Sun quoted the source, as saying.

What is also highly likely, is that the Jolie-Pitts will be raising their expanding family in France itself. The couple are said to have bought a chateau in the south of France and plan to make it their family home.

“Angelina is proud of her French roots and wants her latest addition to be born and raised there,” the source said.

Ashlee Simpson pregnant?

|

The Sun says, Pete recently posted a blog online announcing the couples’ plans to make something that cannot be illegally downloaded, hinting at a baby.

In the bizarre video message, Ashlee Simpson and Pete, who have dated since last summer, also reveal that the “release date” is July 2008, before Ashlee poses with a cushion stuffed under her top.

What a freak this guy is. Oh well, another hot piece of action bites the dust. Seriously, this is sad that of all the trends infecting Hollywood, pregnancy is leading the list. Wait until all these kids get older, it will be like Ridgemont High all over again. Bring back the Valley!

Lindsay Lohan is really hot and right now would be prime for her to defeat her evil sister. Heck, it really wouldn’t take much of an effort to beat sister Jessica Simpson’s Box Office numbers.
Oh well, more Ashlee Simpson pictures.

Legal Fight Over Britney Spears' Representation

martes, 26 de febrero de 2008 |

Britney Spears' father and a lawyer who claims to represent her traded legal barbs in an intensifying fight over whether James Spears is violating her civil rights by controlling her finances and life.

Attorney John Eardley, who told The Associated Press he was the "only person who represents Britney Spears," filed documents in federal court asserting that she is being held by her father in a situation that violates her civil rights.

A lawyer for James Spears said in papers filed Monday that Eardley cannot represent the singer because a probate judge in state court found that Britney Spears "lacks the capacity to hire an attorney, and Mr. Eardley cannot remove the conservatorship proceedings on his own behalf."

The pop star, 26, and her estate were placed under a temporary conservatorship after she was taken to UCLA Medical Center on Jan. 31, her second hospitalization in a month. Conservatorships are granted for people deemed unable to care for themselves or their affairs.

Eardley took aim at James Spears in legal documents filed Friday.

"Mr. Spears has now moved into her house and has taken control of her financial assets, as well as her physical custody, all without the benefit of a hearing where Ms. Spears would be present," he said.

Eardley said that Spears has never been on good terms with her father and said he was "concerned for the emotional and physical safety of Britney under these circumstances."

In his motion, Eardley said Spears had "been in a form of private confinement for nearly a month. Certainly, at this point, it is likely that circumstances have changed and it is time that the conservatee be brought into court for a hearing, where the court can evaluate her in person and hear testimony directly from her."

The document suggests she be allowed to retain her own medical professionals to evaluate her condition.

"There are financial issues which involve the possible misappropriation of assets," Eardley said but did not elaborate.

Meanwhile, attorney Jeffrey Wexler, representing James Spears, filed a response Monday complaining that the effort to move the case to federal court is without legal basis and is draining James Spears financially.

Wexler said that the conservator has already incurred more than $42,898 in legal fees to fight the effort launched by Eardley. Wexler argued the law being cited by Eardley applies only to cases of racial discrimination.

James Spears has asked to send the matter back to state court and to award him attorneys' fees.

In the phone interview Eardley said he had filed additional documents under seal Monday and expected a hearing to be set soon.

Asked when he last consulted with Britney Spears, Eardley said, "I talked to her a few days ago and someone wrestled the phone away from her. I've not talked to her since then."

Jamie Lynn Spears has made the most of her time away from the spotlight by passing her high school equivalency exam.

The 16 year old has had time off from her Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 since announcing her pregnancy in December and after a few weeks of hard studying, she sat the GED test about a month ago. Her spokesperson yesterday confirmed that she had passed the exam, with particularly high marks in reading comprehension.

A source close to the star told People magazine that Jamie Lynn is now thinking about taking a college entrance test to keep her options open after she gives birth later this spring: “She’s not wasting any time. People don’t know her. When she gets something in her head, she’ll make it happen. Everybody is so supportive of her.”

But Jamie Lynn herself is quoted in Us Weekly explaining she’s not got a precise college game plan just yet: “I haven’t thought anything about what I might study. I’ll have to look more into that. But if I went anywhere, I think it would be fun to go to Louisiana State University.”

Rachel Bilson’s scared of ghosts

Rachel Bilson is terrified of ghosts.

Seinfeld Seeks to Toss Author's Lawsuit

|

Jerry Seinfeld was just joking when he compared a woman accusing his wife of plagiarism to the killers of John Lennon and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., his lawyers said.

In a filing in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, attorneys for the former sitcom star asked a judge to throw out a lawsuit filed by Missy Chase Lapine against Seinfeld and his wife, the Daily News reported in Tuesday editions.

"Jerry Seinfeld made overstatements of opinion for comic effect," the comedian's lawyers said in the filing.

Lapine is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for copyright and trademark infringement, and made slander and defamation claims.

Lapine, the author of "The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids' Favorite Meals," accused Seinfeld's wife of plagiarizing her cookbook. Jessica Seinfeld's "Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food" was published in October; Lapine's book was published in April.

Lawyers for the Seinfelds dismissed the plagiarism allegations in the court filing, saying, "The idea of sneaking healthy foods into a child's diet is not original to your author."

Lapine also contended in her lawsuit that Jerry Seinfeld, while making a promotional stop on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman," suggested she was a crackpot by comparing her to the killers of Lennon and King.

Beckham to play exhibition game in Hong Kong

|

David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy will play an exhibition match March 9 against Hong Kong Union at Hong Kong Stadium, the Major League Soccer club announced Monday.

The match will be the third game of the Galaxy's exhibition tour of Asia which begins next week.

The Hong Kong game will mark the final game of the tour designed to tap into Beckham's huge popularity in Asia.

The game will follow matchups against FC Seoul in Seoul, South Korea on March 1 and Shanghai-Hong Kong United in Shanghai, China on March 5.

"We are very excited to be able to add this important third match to the Galaxy's Asia Tour 2008," said Galaxy assistant GM Tom Payne said.

Less than two weeks after Benji Madden split from fiancée Sophie Monk, the rocker is stepping out with another blonde bombshell. The new woman in his life? None other than Paris Hilton.

"Yes, they are dating. It's pretty serious," a source confirms of the couple, who have been spotted together all over town – make that all over the country! In just the past few days, they have partied at Home nightclub in suburban St. Louis, shopped (while holding hands) at Hollywood's Fred Segal, and even grabbed lunch with Madden's mom.

On Sunday night, the two hit the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where they cuddled in a massive booth and engaged in an intimate conversation.

And the Madden brothers posted on their Web site a group picture that included Hilton. They called it a "nice little family photo" and described her as the "wonderful Paris."

The apparent love connection is certainly convenient: His twin brother, Joel, dates Hilton's B.F.F., Nicole Richie.

Britney reunited with her two sons

lunes, 25 de febrero de 2008 |

Britney Spears has been reunited briefly with her sons, nearly two months after the troubled pop star last saw them.

Elliot Mintz, a spokesman for Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline, said she spent about three hours with one-year-old Jayden and two-year-old Sean on Saturday.

Mr Mintz would not say where the reunion took place or who else was there.

Spears had not been allowed to see the boys since January 3, when she refused to return the children after a visitation. Police were called to her home in a scene that ended with Spears in a hospital psychiatric ward.

Mr Federline's lawyer said on Friday that the singer's ex had agreed to give her visitation rights.

People magazine reported that Spears' psychiatrist was present during the visit to see her sons.

The visit came a day after Mr Federline's lawyer Mark Kaplan announced that the couple "agreed to a modification of the court's order" that had stripped Spears, 26, of her visitation rights.

Spears' parents went to Los Angeles around the time of her second admission to hospital, four weeks after the first incident, and have pushed to restore visitation rights to help their daughter recover.

A Los Angeles court commissioner gave Mr Federline sole physical and legal custody of the boys and suspended Spears' visitation rights on January 4.

Spears had engaged in bizarre public behaviour before her hospital admissions. Since divorcing Mr Federline in November 2006 she shaved her head, was seen in public without underwear, ran over a celebrity photographer's foot and attacked a vehicle with an umbrella.

Singer Christina Aguilera is reportedly furious over Jennifer Lopez's 6 million dollars deal for the photos of her twins.

New mum Aguilera, who gave the world first look at her son Max, by posing in a series of photos for a US magazine has reportedly fired her manager and her publicity firm BWR who also reps JLo's, for raking in a much lesser amount for the pictures compared to the Latino singer's deal.

"She (Aguilera) went crazy. The firm wasn't part of the team that secured Friday's $6 million payout for photos of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's twins," New York Daily News quoted a source, as saying.

Meanwhile, actress Nicole Richie is placing all the pressure on her longtime manager Benny Medina to find her the biggest possible baby-pix payday.

A source said Richie is acting "cheap" and trying to wring every cent she can out of the deal.

FCC fines Fox stations for raunchy reality show

|

The Federal Communications Commission has rejected Fox's arguments that an episode of the defunct reality program "Married to America" did not violate the nation's indecency laws because offending body parts were pixilized.

The commission fined 13 Fox stations and affiliates $7,000 each.

In its order Friday, the FCC said simply pixilizing female breasts and buttocks during a raunchy bachelor party scene in the April 2003 show do not indemnify broadcasters from commission action.

"To be sure, the pixilation of the female strippers' naked breasts and buttocks does render the material less explicit and graphic than it would have been in the absence of pixilation," the commission said in its forfeiture order. "However, the material is still sufficiently graphic and explicit to support an indecency finding."

In its arguments, Fox noted that in addition to the pixilation, the show can be V-chipped preventing children from viewing it, the incidents were fleeting and the statute and the commission's enforcement of it makes no constitutional sense.

"Fox strongly disagrees with the commission's conclusions in the notice, and we will be actively considering our options," the network said.

The FCC fined only the Fox stations that had complaints filed against them.

Last week, the FCC fined ABC stations and affiliates a total of $1.2 million for airing a woman's bare buttuck during a 2003 episode of ABC's "NYPD Blue." ABC has paid the fine but will appeal.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is expected to meet Friday to consider the FCC's appeal of a appeals court ruling that said the commission's enforcement of fleeting profanities is "arbitrary and capricious." Four of the nine justices must vote to hear a case for the court to take it up.

80th Academy Awards Sunday night, nabbing England's Daniel Day-Lewis the Best Actor spot and Spain's Javier Bardem Best Supporting Actor.

But big surprises came as France's Marion Cotillard got Best Actress and Brit Tilda Swinton won Best Supporting Actress.

Yet American-bred grittiness still grabbed the top spots, as long-predicted favorites Joel and Ethan Coen won Best Director for "No Country for Old Men," which also got Best Picture.

"We're very thankful to all of you out there for letting us continue to play in our corner of the sandbox," said Joel Coen, the (slightly) more talkative of the quirky, dry-witted siblings.

He said the movies the brothers make now "don't feel much different" than the ones they made as kids growing up in Minnesota.

Among the actors, a classic-looking Cotillard said through tears, "Thank you, life! Thank you, love! It is true that there is magic in this city!" She won for portraying Edith Piaf in "La Vie en Rose."

The first acting award of the night went to Spanish actor Bardem, the dead-on favorite by everyone for his role as a chilling killer in "No Country for Old Men."

He dedicated his award to his mother, who was in the audience, ending his speech with a heartfelt dedication to her in Spanish.

Swinton won Best Supporting Actress for playing a coolly calculating corporate lawyer in "Michael Clayton." She beat safe-bet nominees Cate Blanchett ("I'm Not There") and Ruby Dee ("American Gangster"). Day-Lewis, the no-doubt winner since "There Will be Blood" opened, said, "This is the closest I'll get to a knighthood," as he received his award from last year's Best Actress winner for "The Queen," Helen Mirren. Even a French rat was victorious, as Pixar's "Ratatouille" won its expected Best Animated Film statuette.

"Falling Slowly" from the Irish romance "Once" won Best Song. The weepy, smiling faces of musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, who starred in the film, earned rousing applause. "We made this film two years ago, it took us three weeks to make, and we never thought we'd come into a room like this and be in front of you people," said Hansard. "This is amazing." After Hansard spoke, the duo was hurried off the stage by the Oscar musical cues; a few minutes later, a shyly smiling Irglova was welcomed back onstage by host Jon Stewart to give her part of the speech, a plea for artists to "keep dreaming."

Teams from overseas even triumphed with technical awards. "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" won for Best Costume Design; "La Vie en Rose" won Best Makeup; "The Golden Compass" won Best Visual Effects; Best Art Direction went to "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." The Coens won Best Adapted Screenplay for "No Country." And stripper-turned-screenwriter Diablo Cody ("Juno") strutted up to the stage, complete with tiger-print dress and girl-power tattoo on her right arm, to accept the award for Best Original Screenplay, thanking her family for "loving me exactly the way I am."

Austria's "The Counterfeiters" won Best Foreign Language Film. "There Will Be Blood" won Best Cinematography. Dario Marianelli's music for "Atonement" won Best Score. Despite the international wins, New York was well-represented by several nominees, as well as the IMPACT Repertory Theater, a kids' music group from Harlem whose voices filled the Kodak Theatre as they performed Best Song nominee "Raise it Up," from "August Rush."

Nelly Furtado Pregnant?

|

'Promiscuous' singer Nelly Furtado is rumoured to be pregnant with her second child.

Furtado, who has a four-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, is apparently expecting a baby to her fiance Demacio Castellon, but is trying to keep it secret.

A source told a US magazine: "She's not very far along yet, so she's trying to keep the pregnancy under wraps."

Reps for the singer have apparently denied the rumour, but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Angelina Jolie Flaunts Massive Belly Bump

domingo, 24 de febrero de 2008 |

Either Angelina Jolie is pregnant, or she showed up at Saturday's Spirit Awards wearing Ellen Page's fat suit from Juno.

Jolie, who went home empty-handed after losing to Page in the Best Actress category, silently revealed that she will soon be bringing home more than a lousy trophy by wearing a tight, black dress that showed off her bulging belly.

Jolie and her partner/sperm donor, Brad Pitt, are rumoured to be expecting twins. The babies will join siblings Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 1.

A source tells People magazine the morally/genetically superior couple are "thrilled to be adding to their brood."

Eddie Murphy and Lindsay Lohan were crowned the worst actor and actress of 2007 at the 28th Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday.

Britney Spears reunited with her boys

|

For the first time in nearly two months, troubled songstress Britney Spears spent time Saturday with her two young sons.

During the boys' three-hour stay with Spears, her father, James Spears, and a psychiatrist were present, People magazine reported.

A California judge had barred the former Mouseketeer from visiting her boys - Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1 - after she was rushed to a psychiatric ward on Jan. 4. Full custody had been given to Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline.

Lawyers for the former couple reached a settlement Friday that allowed Spears to see her sons. Details of the deal were not released but Federline's lawyer said they "agreed to a modification of the court's order."

Federline was spotted Saturday strapping the tots into their car seats in Los Angeles before they were driven by his bodyguards to their mom's Studio City mansion, according to People magazine.

Spears' dad, who has been helping his daughter recover from two mental breakdowns, had pushed for her to win back visitation rights.

"James Spears went a long way in terms of stabilizing an environment that surrounded Britney which was wildly in flux," said Federline's spokesman Elliott Mintz. "It's clear Britney is in a different place now than she was a week or two ago."

Spears has spiraled out of control in the past few years. The 26-year-old was hospitalized for a second time on Jan. 31 and was deemed unfit to take care of herself. Her dad has been controlling her legal and business affairs ever since.

Ashley Cole burst into tears over Cheryl

|

Ashley Cole burst into tears as he begged his wife Cheryl for forgiveness this week, according to a report.

The Chelsea star was "so relieved" when Girls Aloud singer Cheryl returned to their home in Oxshott, Surrey, to speak about the future of their marriage.

Ashley and Cheryl's relationship hit the rocks last month following allegations that the footballer had been unfaithful with single mum Aimee Walton.

"Ashley was so relieved when Cheryl walked through the door. He is not the sort to cry, but he could not contain his emotions when he saw his beautiful wife," a source told The Mirror. "He told her how much he'd missed her, explained how sorry he was and said he'd learned his lesson.

"He blurted out that he couldn't live without her and just wanted his 'wifey' back, and he will never hurt her again."

Though Cheryl has reportedly decided to give Ashley another chance, she has since flew back out to Los Angeles to complete work on a Girls Aloud ITV2 special.

Will Smith wins 'Hitler' damages

|

Actor Will Smith has received an apology and damages from a news agency after it falsely accused him of saying Adolf Hitler was "a good person".

World Entertainment News Network (WENN) published the article, titled "Smith: Hitler Was A Good Person", in December.

His solicitor, Rachel Atkins, told London's High Court the article was "deeply distressing" to Smith and had caused him "acute embarrassment".

WENN's solicitor apologised for the "misleading allegations".

Ms Atkins said the star, who was not in court, was "a highly-respected actor of international repute and a man of complete integrity".

She said the I Am Legend star believed Hitler to be "a vile and heinous man".

"The article alleged that the claimant had declared in an interview that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler was a good person," she said.

"The allegation is false and without any foundation.

"It wholly misrepresents the claimant's actual words, given in an interview to the Daily Record, a Scottish newspaper and website."

Legal costs

Ms Atkins said the article had been picked up by the world's media and said "the libel remains at large".

"Whilst the defendant retracted the article and circulated a correction and apology to the recipients of the original article, the correction and apology has not received any media attention," she said.

The London-based news agency agreed to pay undisclosed damages as well as Mr Smith's legal costs.

Ms Atkins said that, because of this and the public apology, Mr Smith considered that "his reputation has been entirely vindicated" and therefore "would not proceed any further in his action".

John Melville-Smith, for WENN, said: "Through me the defendant offers its apologies to the claimant for any distress and embarrassment caused by this article.

"The defendant accepts that the allegations concerning the claimant were misleading and published in error."

The dreams of four young wannabe singers were crushed on Thursday night, during the American Idol show. Garrett Haley, Amy Davis, Joanne Borgella and Colton Berry were the unfortunate participants who were sent home.

Colton Berry, 18, sang "Suspicious Minds;" Joanne Borgella, 25, sang "I Say a Little Prayer for You;" Amy Davis, 25, sang "Where The Boys Are," and Garrett Haley, 17, sang "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do."

Seacrest mocked Garrett Haley, saying he looked as if he had been held locked in his bedroom for a month. In his defense, Garrett argued that he was the pale type, but he was self-confident.

"Actually, I know I'm a pale kid, hey," he said."But I'm happy with the way I am, wouldn't change a thing. I haven't gone tanning, so, I'm being myself."

Viewers cast more than 28 million votes this week, says show host Ryan Seacrest, according to the Washington Post.

Next week, the Top 10 guys (David Archuleta, Robbie Carrico, Jason Castro, David Cook, Chikezie, David Hernandez, Michael Johns, Luke Menard, Danny Noriega and Jason Yeager) will be singing for America on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

On Feb. 27 it will be the ladies’ turn. The Top 10 girls (Kristy Lee Cook, Asia’h Epperson, Alexandréa Lushington, Kady Malloy, Ramiele Malubay, Syesha Mercado, Amanda Overmyer, Carly Smithson, Alaina Whitaker and Brooke White) will compete on Wednesday.

Another two guys and two girls will be eliminated on the live results show on Thursday, Feb. 28. The Vote for the Worst campaign has selected this season’s male contestant: Danny Noriega. They still haven’t decided which one of the girls is the worst contestant. The Votefortheworst.com site was started in 2004 to support "the entertaining contestants who the producers would hate to see win on American Idol."

Brad Pitt has a live-in nurse looking after a reportedly pregnant Angelina Jolie who collapsed on a flight from Iraq - and the Oscars Night Before Party awaits.

From Iraq to the Oscars Night Before Party which the pair are supposed to be hosting with Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

Jen and Ange have avoided each other ever since Brad left the marital bed to join Jolie on her "save-the-world" crusades.

Pitt and Aniston finalised their divorce in 2005.

With four children (three adopted), and another two on the way (the word is that she's expecting twins this time), a party to host, your partner's ex-wife to confront, and a wedding to plan, she'd have enough on her plate without Iraq.

Life and Style Weekly reports that Pitt is a wreck worrying about her.

The pair are said to have completed a $200m pre-nuptial agreement and are planning to wed later this year.

BANG! Showbiz quotes a source saying: "They know that, if God forbid, things don't work out, they can make a clean break and go their separate ways with their separate assets."

The pair, who are said to have also agreed custody arrangements for their children, are said to be planning to tie the knot in New Orleans at the Saint Louis Cathedral.

Angelina was previously married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller and Hollywood star Billy Bob Thornton.

Spears allowed to visit young sons

sábado, 23 de febrero de 2008 |

Kevin Federline on Friday agreed to give ex-wife Britney Spears visitation rights with their two young sons, nearly two months after the troubled pop star last saw them, his representatives said.

Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said in a statement the former couple have agreed to a modification of a court order that had stripped Spears of her visitation rights. The statement did not elaborate.

Elliot Mintz, a spokesman for Kaplan and Federline, credited the development to Spears' father, James Spears, who came to Los Angeles earlier this month to help his daughter.

"James Spears went a long way in terms of stabilizing an environment that surrounded Britney which was wildly in flux," Mintz said. "It's clear Britney is in a different place now than she was a week or two ago."

Mintz said James Spears would be present during visitations, but he didn't provide more details.

A call to Spears' attorney was not immediately returned.

A court commissioner gave Federline sole physical and legal custody of their two little boys and suspended the pop star's visitation rights on Jan. 4.

Spears has not been allowed to see sons Jayden James, 1, and Sean Preston, 2, since an incident at her home that led to the first of her two hospitalizations in a psychiatric facility this year.

Before the hospitalizations, Spears had been in a downward spiral of bizarre behavior since divorcing Federline in November 2006. She shaved her head, was seen in public without underwear, ran over a celebrity photographer's foot and attacked a vehicle with an umbrella, among other strange outbursts.

Spears' parents came to Los Angeles the second time their daughter was hospitalized. They have pushed to have her visitation rights restored, saying that would help Spears heal.

The 26-year-old pop star and her estate were placed under a temporary conservatorship after she was taken to UCLA Medical Center on Jan. 31. Conservatorships are granted for people deemed unable to care for themselves or their affairs.

The issue became more complicated when attorney Jon Eardley, who claims to represent Spears, filed papers on Feb. 14 to move her case to federal court. Eardley claimed the terms of the conservatorship violated her civil rights.

U.S. District Court Judge Philip Gutierrez has ordered Eardley to clarify why the case belongs in federal court. It was initially being tried in Superior Court.

Lindsay Lohan 'Very Happy' with Nude Photos

|

Just days after Lindsay Lohan's mother praised her daughter's nude pictorial in New York magazine as "very tastefully done," comes word that Lindsay herself is just as pleased with the photo shoot, a recreation of Marilyn Monroe's legendary 1962 shoot by Bert Stern.

"She is very happy with the photos...because they are art," the 21-year-old star's rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik tells PEOPLE.

Mom Dina told PEOPLE Tuesday, "I respect the photographer as an artist, so I look at them artistically. For him to call Lindsay 46 years later and to say, 'Can you recreate these photos' is an honor.”

While Lindsay has tongues wagging in the states, she’s thousands of miles away in Italy, attending shows at the Fall 2008 Milan Fashion Week.

The last two singers selected to be among the 24 semifinalists were among the first to be eliminated, as “American Idol” began the unpleasant business of whittling down the larger group on Thursday’s results show.

On last week’s selection show, Joanne Borgella became the final woman picked to sing this week, and Colton Berry the 12th man. But ultimately, all that bought them was an extra week, as the viewing audience heard them sing, looked at the telephone, and then went to bed instead of calling in their votes.

Joining them on the sidelines are Garrett Haley and Amy Davis. Song selection and nerves, the traditional bogeyman at this stage of the competition, got the best of all four.

Black Crowes Say Maxim Review a Fraud

|

The Black Crowes are lashing out at Maxim magazine for reviewing the band's new album — apparently without actually hearing it first.

The review, published in Maxim's March issue, gives the Crowes' "Warpaint" a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five.

"The writer — who has not heard the album since advance CDs were not made available — wrote what appears to be a disparaging assessment anyway, citing, `it hasn't left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth,'" said a statement on the band's official Web site.

The band's manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an "educated guess."

"It speaks directly to the lack of the publication's credibility," Angelus said in a statement. "In my opinion, it's a disgrace to the arts, journalism, critics, the publication itself and the public. What's next — Maxim's concert reviews of shows they never attended, book reviews of books never read and film reviews of films never seen?"

A representative for the magazine would not confirm or deny to The Associated Press whether the writer actually listened to the album. Instead, Maxim released this statement in response: "Maxim will continue to provide our readers with information that is important to them, whether it is about fashion, lifestyle, technology, music, movies and more."

"Warpaint," the band's first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, "Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution."

The band's hits include "Hard to Handle" and "She Talks to Angels."

Lohan settles car accident lawsuit

|

A waiter trying to clean up against actress Lindsay Lohan has settled a lawsuit against her over a car accident.

"It's been resolved," said Robert Klein, the lawyer for Raymundo Ortega, who settled for an undisclosed amount on Wednesday.

Lohan's Mercedes-Benz collided with Ortega's van as he was making a turn in October 2005. Although the California Highway Patrol concluded that Mr Ortega caused the accident by making an illegal U-turn, he sued Lohan seeking at least £105,000 in damages.

Mr Ortega's suit claimed Lohan was fleeing paparazzi at the time and was under the influence of alcohol.

A message left with Lohan's lawyer, David Ozeran, was not immediately returned. Her publicist, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Mr Ozeran had said previously that there was no evidence Lohan was intoxicated.

Two "Big Brother" houseguests were rushed to the emergency room on Friday night, and all the drama was caught on the live feeds!

We thought Crazy James' gay porn career was dramatic, but this one definitely takes the cake.

On Saturday night two house guests, Amanda and Allison, were rushed to the emergency room.

Amanda who is hypoglycemic fainted after not eating enough, and then she started having seizures. We have the video as CBS kept the live feeds rolling.

In this video, you can hear Amanda hit the floor, and then the camera pans to her laying on the ground. Her fellow house guests were desperately screaming for help from producers. It is a very dramatic scene:

Later, Allison was also rushed to the emergency room after she had an allergic reaction to something. Her lips were evidently swollen shut and she broke out in hives.

Allison and Amanda both returned to the "Big Brother" house later in the night. Amanda was given some pills to take since she is on food restriction and can only eat slop (as per the rules of the game).

Upon the girls' return, they were given flowers from their house mates and "Big Brother." Everyone on food restriction was also granted permission to eat for 24 hours.

Lopez Gives Birth to Twins in NY

viernes, 22 de febrero de 2008 |

Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins early Friday, making the singer and husband Marc Anthony the parents of a boy and a girl after one of pop music's most closely watched pregnancies.

"She's thrilled," Lopez's manager, Simon Fields, told The Associated Press. He said the babies were born "just after midnight this morning."

Fields confirmed that the girl arrived first, weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces. "Her boy is 6 pounds even and arrived about 15 minutes later" at a Long Island hospital, he said. The location was not identified.

Ending months of speculation, Lopez confirmed her pregnancy at a Miami concert in November. Her father, David Lopez, told Telefutura's "Escandalo TV" earlier this month that the 39-year-old singer was expecting twins.

Lopez and Anthony, 38, married in 2004. The twins are her first children, and his third and fourth.

Hollywood superstar couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially adopted 4-year-old Pax Thien from Vietnam.

A Los Angeles County Children's Court judge finalized the couple's adoption of Pax on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Jolie confirmed to People.com Friday.

The 4-year-old boy has lived with the couple and their three other children for nearly a year.

He is now a legally recognized member of the ever-growing family, which in addition to the celebrity parents includes fellow siblings Maddox, 6; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, who turns 2 in May.

TMZ.com reported Thursday that the happy family held a mini celebration after the judge signed off on the paperwork at a courthouse in the Monterey Park area of L.A.

Jolie adopted Pax from an orphanage in Vietnam last year, saying at the time, "You can imagine what courage it takes to be in all new surroundings, with new people and a new language. He is very strong."

While an official adoption ceremony did take place in Vietnam's Department of Justice in March 2007, the U.S. had not, until now, formalized the addition.

Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole shouted “bring on the party” at the bash as she carried on living life to the full without her cheating husband, Ashley Cole (Daily Star).

…while her band-mate Sarah Harding knocked a glass of champagne over Andrew Lloyd Webber. His female friend demanded an apology from the singer (Daily Mirror).

Amy Winehouse tried to get the crowd to cheer for her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, currently in Pentonville Prison.

Billie Piper had a sneaky cigarette outside the back of the venue (Daily Mirror).

Klaxons’ Jamie Reynolds was so drunk on the red carpet he answered questions by playing air guitar (Daily Record).

Vic Reeves’ seemingly drunken slurring on stage, which led to presenter Sharon Osbourne shoving him off and swearing at him, was in fact caused by the autocue packing in (The Sun).

Beth Ditto’s plan from the start was to get drunk and sleep on her flight back to Arkansas. “I figure you can be drunk on the plane,” she said (Daily Star).

Jack Black: I will never play Belushi

|

Jack Black has denied speculation that he will one day play late comic John Belushi in a biopic.

The actor has been likened to Belushi in the past but said he believes the common practice of comedians playing other comedians is doomed to failure.

He told Canadian newspaper The St Catherine's Standard: "[Belushi's] life is not as funny as his work, and watching me do an imitation of him doing his Saturday Night Live bits won't be as funny as watching him do his SNL bits."

He added that a biopic would fall into the same trap as Jim Carrey's portrayal of comic Andy Kaufman in 1999 movie Man On The Moon, saying: "Just because the guy is an amazing and compelling artist doesn't mean that telling his story is going to be interesting to watch."

John Belushi died from an overdose of cocaine and heroin in 1982 at the age of 33.
