Sylvia is favourite to leave Big Brother house Friday night

viernes, 27 de junio de 2008 |

With the eviction only a day away it looks like Sylvia is favourite to leave the house Friday night. Its said that Sylvia is attracting overwhelming odds to be evicted from the Big Brother house.

Bookmakers Sky Bet have placed odds of 1/33 for Sylvia to become the second housemate to be evicted. Mohamed, who has had rows with several housemates, over the fact that he eats to much food seems safe with the Sky Bet pricing him at 10/1 to get the chop.

Since the show began, the bookies have received a flurry of bets on cookie monster Kathreya becoming the winner of Big Brother 9. I also have considered put a bet on her to win I think she has what it takes to win the show she is great.

Ok on to other news who saw the task OK Go Performance wow what a task I loved it. I never knew that treadmills could be so much fun.

Britney Spears granted overnight stays with sons

jueves, 26 de junio de 2008 |

Pop star Britney Spears won the right to overnight visits with her two children, it was reported on Tuesday, in a further sign that the troubled star was back on the mend.

TMZ.com reported that Spears had been granted overnight visits with her baby sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and Jayden James, one, following the latest hearing in her custody case with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

A Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman would not comment on the specific details of the hearing but confirmed a change to Spears' existing visitation rights had been made.

Both Spears, 26, and ex-husband Federline, who has primary legal and physical custody of the children, attended the hearing.

Court spokesman said a further hearing would take place on July 15, while the case was still scheduled to go to trial in August.

Spears' visitation rights were severely restricted amid spiraling personal problems and fears for the singer's mental health.

However, the pop star has appeared to have been getting her life back on track in recent months, after she was twice rushed to hospital earlier this year for treatment in a psychiatric unit.

Spears, one of the most successful pop stars of her generation, has been locked in the custody saga with Federline since the couple split in 2006.

Her access to her children was restricted last October after she failed to submit to random drug testing as demanded at an earlier hearing where the court ruled she was a "habitual and continuous drug user."

Spears shot to superstardom in late 1998 with her smash-hit debut album "Baby One More Time," which she followed with another chart-topping success the following year, "Oops! ... I Did It Again."

David Beckham is considering ending his $4m deal with fizzy drinks firm Pepsi, and launching his own brand of bottled water.

Pepsi are said to be desperate to hold on to Beckham -- who has been the face of the company for more than 10 years -- and are currently in negotiations to persuade him to stay.

A source says, "David Beckham has had a fantastic relationship with Pepsi -- it's one of the longest running contracts in its history.

"But after 10 years he feels there are other things he could do. He is a global brand in himself and there is more scope for him to promote his own products. He has an idea for creating a range of healthy products, including water. That's something PepsiCo might develop with him.

"David is keen to go down the healthy route to keep in with his sporty image. And Pepsi is desperate to keep him. So who knows..."

Beckham, 33, already has lucrative deals with Police sunglasses, his own perfume range and is the current face & body of Emporio Armani Underwear.

David's spokesman said,"It is true that we are currently in negotiations to possibly extend the Pepsi relationship, which has lasted over ten years.

"There are no discussions at this stage with any other drinks companies."

Madonna Divorce is Real

|

We reported that Madonna was rumored to be talking to a divorce lawyer back on June 10th, but now it seems that it is national news. The original rumor stated that she was talking to, Nicholas Mostyn, but Fox News says she is "seeking advice from divorce attorney Fiona Shackleton, who represented Paul McCartney in his divorce from model Heather Mills."

If you remember Heather Mills is the bionic bitch who made McCartney's life hell, winning $50 million off the singer, in one of the longest and most expensive divorce cases in history.

Madonna's soon to be ex, Guy Ritchie is also sitting pretty, because there is no prenuptial agreement, he could get an even 50-50 split of their assets.

If Madonna knew she was going to divorce him, she should have waited to release her last album Hard Candy, then at least she could have kept that money. I wonder if he will also get the money from her upcoming world tour that begins on August 23.

Naomi Campbell has an anger problem

|

Property tycoon Donald Trump has urged troubled pal Naomi Campbell to undergo anger management therapy following her recent air rage conviction.

The supermodel was fined and sentenced to 200 hours' community service after assaulting two police officers onboard a British Airways flight at London's Heathrow Airport in April.

It is the latest in a long line of violent incidents for the 38-year-old, who carried out community service in New York last year after she was found guilty of assaulting her maid.

Trump insists she needs professional help: "She has a little anger management problem. You don't want to mess with Naomi. But she's a good woman. I know her well and she's a good woman."

Sylvia and Mohamed face Big Brother eviction

|

It was nomination results time again in the Big Brother house, with housemates discovering that Mohamed Mohamed and Sylvia Barrie would be up for eviction in this Friday's public vote.

Sylvia's eyes rolled upwards as her name was read out and Mohamed jumped to his feet to get a hug from chef Rex Newmark.

"I couldn't feel better" he said. "I get to feel it now - now I know how Mario felt last week."

"No one hugs me" said Sylvia. "No one who nominated me is getting to hug me"

Meanwhile the other housemates were surprised by the nominees.

"That has shocked me, one million per cent. Both people" said Dennis McHugh, Sylvia's best friend in the house.

Later though, the two up for nomination had a heart to heart in the garden

"How you feeling?" Mohamed asked his fellow potential-evictee. "I'm okay" Sylvia replied quietly.

"Don't worry about it. You'll be fine" Mohamed told her. "It's just a game we're playing."

"Okay" she said. "Don't you worry about it either. Thank you babes."

Big Brother 9: Jennifer Clark and Dennis McHugh sent to 'jail'

martes, 24 de junio de 2008 |

Two of the 'Big Brother 9' contestants have been sent to 'prison' in the house for breaking the rules of the show.

Several contestants were overheard discussing their auditions for the show, which is forbidden under the rules.

Big Brother asked all the housemates who had spoken about their auditions to stand up.

Dennis, Jennifer, Kathreya, Rebecca, Rex, Sylvia and Stuart all stood up.

"Two of you will go to jail until further notice," said Big Brother.

"You have one minute to decide which two of you will be punished and go to jail. Your time starts now."

Dennis and Jennifer decided to take the rap, with Jennifer admitting that the two of them were the worst offenders.

While behind bars, Dennis and Jennifer began to complain about fellow housemate Mikey.

"I find Mikey unbearable," said Jennifer.

She continued: "I can't stand him. I find everything that comes out of his mouth just repulsive."

Dennis replied: "I cannot bear to hear him any more. Can you imagine watching that all summer? You'd be traumatised. I don't even want him in here."

Outside in the 'free' world, Mikey was also voicing his opinion on Jennifer, saying that he disliked her voice as much as she disliked his.

John Leslie quizzed on rape allegation

|

Former Blue Peter presenter John Leslie has been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on bail.

Scotland Yard said a man in his 40s was questioned over an allegation of rape and sexual assault dating from 1995.

The former host of ITV's This Morning was acquitted in 2003 of two counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress in May 1997.

Mr Leslie denied the new allegations, said to concern a party at his London home, the Sun newspaper said.

It reported the accuser was in her early 20s when she claims she was attacked.

Name outed

No charges were brought against the TV presenter, who was born in Edinburgh, following allegations arising from fellow host Ulrika Jonsson's autobiography, released in 2002.

The book itself did not name him, but he was named in an apparent mistake by another TV host, Matthew Wright.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said on Monday night of the current allegations: "Officers are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman dating from November 1995.

"At approximately 7pm this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry.

"He was interviewed and bailed pending further inquiries to a date in late August."

Mr Leslie was the 18th Blue Peter presenter for four years from 1989 alongside Anthea Turner and Caron Keating.

At the same time, he was appearing in newspaper columns for his high-profile social life and a relationship with Catherine Zeta Jones, before she moved to Hollywood.

In the 1990s he worked on ITV game show Wheel of Fortune and daytime programme This Morning, taking over as co-host with Fern Britton when Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan left in 2001.

Following the allegations made against him in 2002, but later dropped, Mr Leslie lost his job on the programme.

Actresses Charlize Theron and Kirsten Dunst joined supermodel Helena Christensen in the 10,000-strong audience.

The New York event was the band's third free show, following gigs in London and Barcelona, to promote new album Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends.

They gave away thousands of tickets through their website - although some were said to be changing hands for up to $800 a pair on eBay.

The title track, Viva La Vida, has given the band their first ever number one single in both the US and the UK.

Its popularity has been boosted by its use as the soundtrack to an iTunes advert.

Launching into the song, frontman Chris Martin joked: "Somehow it's made it to number one in your country. It just goes to show that with good marketing and a handsome bass player you can achieve anything."

The set opened with Life In Technicolor and included old favourites such as Clocks, In My Place and Fix You.

This is the band's fourth studio album and is their fastest seller to date.

It has already gone double platinum in the UK, selling over 300,000 copies in its first three days on sale.

The three free shows were a warm-up for the tour proper, which kicks off in Los Angeles on July 14. The European leg begins in September.

"We can't wait to get on the road. It just feels like a great big challenge," Martin said. "The time I feel most alive is when we're playing. It's the only time that my head makes any sense."

Kate Middleton is reportedly looking to get a job as an art gallery after the Queen expressed concern about her lack of career.

Kate quit her four-day-a-week job as an assistant buyer at clothing chain Jigsaw last year but a Royal source told the People newspaper: “The Queen is aware of the possible damage to the monarchy’s image of Kate being pictured shopping or coming out of Boujis nightclub.

“She cannot carry on simply drifting around London waiting for William to propose.

“It is not considered appropriate in the 21st century for Kate to merely sit around waiting for William.”

Kate met Prince William while studying for a history of art degree at St Andrews University and is said to have lined up meetings with curators at leading galleries and museums across Europe about getting into the field.

The source added: “She enjoyed her degree and is determined to put it to good use. Curators are not highly paid but that is not the most important thing to the daughter of multi-millionaires and the potential wife of a future king.”

William turned 26 this weekend and Kate, who has previously been rumoured to be planning a career in photography, was spotted taking photos of the birthday boy and his friends at a polo match on Saturday.

Amy Winehouse has emphysema, says her father

domingo, 22 de junio de 2008 |

Amy Winehouse is suffering from the early stages of lung condition emphysema, her father Mitch has revealed.

The singer has been undergoing tests at a private hospital in London since collapsing at home on Monday.

"The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid - she wouldn't have been able to breathe," said Mitch.

"She's got emphysema. It's in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe. With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes her lungs are all gunked up."

Mitch said Amy has to give up drugs and stay away from her drug-using friends, but may still sing at this week's Glastonbury Festival.

"She abstains and regulates her drug use when she has to do a show," Mitch told the Sunday Mirror. "When she's been inactive work-wise then that's when the problems really start. The doctors have said that medically there isn't any reason why she can't do Glastonbury."

|

It was hard to tell whether the bride or her father was more excited at the wedding of Leah Wood.

Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood walked daughter Leah down the aisle at Southwark Cathedral on June 21 and her beautiful wedding dress would have had hearts pounding at the pace of rock 'n' roll.

Eleven years after their first kiss, TV-producer Jack MacDonald and Leah said 'I do'. They had been engaged for fifteen months since the proposal in Kenya.

As with tradition, the bride arrived a couple of minutes late to give Jack some nervous moments on his dream day. Superstar model Kate Moss also failed to be punctual, arriving late with daughter Lila Grace.

The wedding reception naturally took place at the home of the bride's parents, the stunning Holmwood House, which is worth €16m.

Property developer Stuart Pilkington has become the 17th contestant to enter the Big Brother house, after Alexandra De-Gale was thrown out.

A 25-year-old former personal trainer, Stuart says his passions in life are his five-year-old daughter, music, women and Manchester United.

He arrived on the back of a motorbike to replace Alexandra De-Gale, who was removed for threatening other housemates.

The 23-year-old, from Croydon, south London, was due to face eviction alongside Mario Marconi, 43, on Friday but the vote has now been suspended after she was thrown off the ninth series of the show for making references to her "gangster friends".

She had already been reprimanded by Big Brother after being perceived to have bullied other contestants after Ofcom received 433 complaints when Alexandra De-Gale verbally attacked Rebecca Shiner, Rachel Rice and Stephanie McMichael in an argument over food.

And after she reportedly made threatening remarks while discussing her nomination for eviction, Channel 4 took the decision to remove her from the house.

Alexandra's eviction and Stuart's subsequent entrance were watched by 4.72 million viewers, according to Channel 4, the highest viewing figures for the reality show since its launch a fortnight ago.

Diana Bianchi Photos: Christie Brinkley Vs Peter Cook, Exposed!

viernes, 20 de junio de 2008 |

Christie Brinkley is not afraid to air out all of ex husband Peter Cook's laundry - and that's just what she'll do if their divorce goes to trial!

'Uptown Girl' Christie (or Christine, Christy) Brinkley is ready for Peter Cook if their divorce has to go to trial - and she wants it to be an open courtroom.

Brinkley's attorney Robert Cohen says: "Christie and her family have been the victims of anonymous leaks containing innuendos, rumors and falsehoods surrounding Peter's atrocious behavior. Frankly, his long affair with a teenage girl is only the tip of the iceberg."

The affair, if you recall, was between Cook and a teenage girl named Diana Bianchi. They met in a toy store and engaged in a sexual relationship about a month later. Diana was approximately 17 or 18-years-old at the time.

Christie discovered that her husband was having an affair after reading his emails.

Britney Spears has become an aunty, after her younger sister Jamie Lynn gave birth to a baby girl.

The baby was named Maddie Briann and weighed 3.49 kilograms, according to a friend of the Spears family, who asked not to be identified because the family had not yet announced the baby's birth.

Spears gave birth at a south Mississippi hospital, but Ellen Brannan from the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Centre would not give out any details.

"We understand everybody's interested, but we don't give out information on anyone. Everyone's entitled to their privacy," she said.

Nickelodeon issued a statement about the birth, saying: "We wish her and her family well."

Spears starred in Nickelodeon's Zoey 101 children's TV series.

The Spears family announced in December that 17-year-old Jamie Lynn was pregnant.

The father is Casey Aldridge, a pipe-layer from Liberty, Mississippi.

The couple is not married but announced an engagement several months ago.

The younger Spears lives near Liberty with Aldridge, 19, and has been seen around the small south Mississippi town often as her pregnancy became more apparent.

Her family owns a home across the state line in Kentwood, Louisiana.

Spears announced her pregnancy through an article in OK! Magazine and was expected to receive a large payday for exclusive pictures of the newborn.

Big Brother awaits new contestant

|

A new contestant will enter the Big Brother house to replace Alexandra De-Gale who was booted off the show, it has been revealed.

The new housemate will join the others after host Davina McCall's interview with Alexandra is screened on Friday.

Does Amy Winehouse have tuberculosis?

|

It is feared that Amy Winehouse may have the deadly disease, tuberculosis, more commonly known as TB. The singer's symptoms include coughing blood, lack of appetite and subsequent weight loss - all common indicators of the illness. Those with weak immune systems, such as alcoholics and drug addicts are more susceptible to the it. It requires at least half a year of medication and can easily kill if left untreated.

Winehouse has been in hospital, attached to a drip since her blackout at her home on Monday. Her coughing fits and irregualr heartbeat have been worrying doctors, according to a friend who gave British tabloid The Sun an interview. The source also said "doctors now believe it is tuberculosis and are doing more tests to be certain".

Despite this devastating news, friends and family of the 24-year-old are hopeful that the diagnosis will shock the star into realising that her drug-fuelled lifestyle will kill her if she does not do something about it. “Things sound really bad but at least now they have found something specific it will be easier to keep her in hospital and free from drugs", the source added.

However, Winehouse still has two commitments this month - one being Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday party and another is Glastonbury Festival. At this moment, she is stilll intending to honour those. But it is looking less and less likely that the doctors will allow her to perform again so soon. In any case, everyone is waiting for the doctors' verdict.

Piers Morgan regrets playing cupid

|

Former British tabloid editor Piers Morgan, who played cupid between Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, has confessed that he will always be sorry for introducing the ex-couple to each other. While speaking to Howard Stern on his Sirius radio show, the "America's Got Talent" judge said that he regrets introducing Mills to the ex-Beatle.

"Paul asked who she was after seeing her give a speech. I introduced them. I'm not sure if Paul knew that she was missing a leg at the time," The New York Post quoted Morgan, as saying. He also said that he never thought in his wildest of dreams that Mills would turn out to be a "grasping, gold-digging little bimbo . . .". I was fooled into thinking that she was a good person. She ended up costing Paul 50 million dollars," he said laughing.

He also ripped fellow "America's Got Talent" judge David Hasselhoff, calling him a "tool." Morgan said that being grilled by Stern for over an hour was the "highlight" of his career. "I can die a happy man now," he said. "I've met Nelson Mandela, Princess Di, Queen Elizabeth II and Tony Blair, but this was the biggest honour," he said.

Agyness Deyn's TV dream

|

Agyness Deyn wants to appear on a 'Challenge Anneka' style show.

The model said if she was going to appear on a TV show it would have to be something like the 90s programme - where presenter Anneka Rice was challenged to complete a task for charity in a two or three day time limit - as long as she didn't embarrass herself.

She said: "I'm going to give reality TV offers a pass unless something really amazing comes up. If I was to do one I'd like to do not a reality show but more of a documentary. Me documenting something. My guide to something.

"Even something like 'Challenge Anneka', but not something where you just have to slag someone off or commit public suicide."

Agyness also revealed she would consider doing a Christmas single album, but only if it was for charity.

She added: "I'd round up people like Peter Kaye to do it with and do it for charity. It takes the pressure off if it's for charity."

Alexandra De-Gale thrown off Big Brother

jueves, 19 de junio de 2008 |

Alexandra De-Gale has been ejected from Big Brother for intimidating other housemates.

In a conversation with albino Darnell Swallow, the accounts executive from Croydon brought up her alleged ‘gangster’ connections.

‘I'm not throwing water at anyone,’ she told him. ‘It's bigger than that...personal offence is never forgotten, do you know what I mean?

'We are just inside the house. I've got a very, very, very, very, very strong team outside the house.

‘I just can't wait to see my mans and them and see what their plans are, who they got...I'm not talking about those mans, I'm talking about my gangster friends. They got some instructions to follow out.

‘I get to go out, see everyone's friends, I get to see their family. I get to do the s*** that I wanna do. Pow, pow, pow.’

Channel 4 say they had no option but to give Alexandra, 23, the boot – especially since they'd already given her 2 warning for her behaviour.

‘Alex's comments will be widely interpreted as having been intended to intimidate,’ Big Brother head Angela Jain says.

'Other housemates have said they found her comments to be threatening and we believe that is a reasonable conclusion.’

This Friday’s eviction, which was due to be contested between Alexandra and Mario Marconi, 43, has now been cancelled.

It is not known if Davina McCall will interview Alexandra on Friday but the live show will still go ahead.

Joan Rivers kicked off British chat show

miércoles, 18 de junio de 2008 |

Joan Rivers is not quite eating crow, but profanities she let fly about actor Russell Crowe got the comedienne kicked off a British talk show.

Rivers, 75, was making a guest appearance on “Loose Women” when the Hollywood interviewer was asked if she likes meeting celebrities on the red carpet. She responded that she likes “nice” celebrities, but that Crowe is not one of those.

She then said “get ready to bleep this,” and let loose with two expletives in reference to the Oscar-winning movie star whose films include “Gladiator” and “American Gangster.” The comedienne, who is famous for the catch phrase “can we talk?”, was asked to leave the chat show at the commercial break.

But it’s not like Joan was overly contrite. In a statement released through her spokeswoman, Rivers joked about the incident. “In England you can’t swear on TV before 9 p.m.,” Rivers said. “Like it’s my fault — I’m still on New York time.”

Another zinger: ”The whole incident reminded me of my wedding night because I was to asked to leave in the middle.”

Rivers did not know that the show was live with no capability of bleeping her choice words about Crowe, said her spokeswoman.

Mario and Alexandra up for BB 9 boot

|

Alexandra and Mario are waking up in the knowledge that their days in the Big Brother house could be numbered.

The pair are set to face the public vote on Friday after being nominated for eviction by their fellow housemates.

Alexandra De-Gale clocked up nine votes, while Mario Marconi followed closely with seven.

They both looked relaxed as, dressed in Japanese outfits as part of their latest task, they learnt of their fate. Mario smiled as his name was read out, while Alexandra asked out loud "Are you joking?"

Mario's girlfriend, Lisa Appleton, who unsurprisingly did not nominate him, shook her head in disbelief.

As Michael Hughes offered his condolences to 43-year-old Mario, Alexandra, 23, headed off to the bathroom for some time alone.

Nominating Alexandra, Dale Howard said: "She's trying to be nice so she won't be up for nomination. I think she's playing a game."

It was a sentiment shared by Michael who claimed: "She's being nicey nicey over the past few days and it doesn't fool me."

Mario earnt a nomination from Jennifer Clark who moaned that she didn't like "the way he acts like my Dad," while Dale said: "He's patronising - he thinks he's the Dad and we are the kids."

For their own nominations, Alex picked Rex Newmark and Dennis McHugh. Mario chose Sylvia Barrie and Dennis.

Princess Eugenie's dress controversy

|

Britain's Princess Eugenie caused controversy by wearing a dress which ended several inches above her knee when she attended Royal Ascot yesterday (17.06.08).

The 18 year old royal appeared to have either forgotten or ignored the ban on mini-skirts for the Royal Enclosure at the world-famous horseracing event, and wore a white studded Collette Dinnigan dress for the occasion.

She accessorised the short dress with a purple Philip Treacy hat, complete with a feather, and a matching purple jacket from Arrogant Cat, an exclusive boutique in London's Chelsea.

However, Royal Ascot spokesman Karen Smith said she had not seen the outfit.

She said: "As long as it is not a miniskirt and is in keeping with the rest of the outfit then the wearer would be allowed into the Royal Enclosure. The idea that hemlines must be no more than two inches above the knee is a bit of an urban myth."

Eugenie was accompanied by her 19-year-old sister Princess Beatrice, who abided to the rules by wearing a monochrome Alexander McQueen suit - the skirt of which finished on her knee.

New dress code rules were introduced at the equestrian event after last year's racegoers pushed boundaries with a variety of skimpy outfits.

Royal Ascot this year banned short skirts and any outfit which bares the midriff.

Danielle glams up film premiere

|

Danielle Lloyd helped bring a bit of glam to the premiere of Brit flick sequel AdultHood.

The serial Wag was on her best behaviour, wowing the crowd in a canary yellow mini dress teamed with long blonde hair extensions and a huge sparkler on her wedding finger which she promised she had bought herself.

"I had lunch with Lord Mackenzie the other day to see what we can do about gun crime.

"I think if you can stop drugs you can stop crime."

She hinted at a move to LA to launch her movie career, adding: "Maybe I'll find a man out there too!"

The glamourpuss also had a message for the newly hitched Wayne and Coleen Rooney, saying: "She looked absolutely amazing. They looked really in love. Congratulations."

Meanwhile Scarlett Johnson went from EastEnder to West Ender at the premiere, which was held in London's Leicester Square.

The former soapstar, who played Vicki Fowler in the hit BBC show, looked radiant as she dazzled in a blue Betsey Johnon frock.

Talking about her coke addicted character Lexi, she said: "My character is fearless. It would have been easy to try and make her pretty, but she's quite unattractive.

"That was the challenging part, to make her honest."

Co-star, and director, Noel Clarke looked dapper and was delighted everyone had shown up to his directorial debut.

He said: "I grew up on a council estate... If you give young people positive things to do, they will do positive things.

"I need to be a role model to my son."

Former Doctor Who star Noel has done incredibly well to build a sequel on the strength of his 2006 screenplay Kidulthood.

There are only two noted Brit flicks that have secured second movies, namely 28 Weeks Later and Bridget Jones 2: The Edge of Reason.

Usually down-to-earth Jaime Winstonr did a Peaches Geldof, by refusing to talk to the press and walking around with her nose in the air clutching her Corona.

She turned up with beau of the moment Alfie Allen, donning a tartan jacket he perhaps hoped was reminiscent of Johnny Rotten but looked more like Rupert Bear.

Nicholas Hoult rocked up on the red carpet sporting a new longer hairdo.

But the former Skins star seemed a little down in the dumps, admitting he's still jobless after being dropped from the hit E4 series.

He said: "I'm unemployed. But I'm looking forward to the summer festivals and seeing the Foals and Kings Of Leon."

Amy Winehouse still in London hospital for tests

martes, 17 de junio de 2008 |

A spokesman says soul diva Amy Winehouse is having more tests in a London hospital after fainting at home.

Spokesman Chris Goodman says initial tests were inconclusive and Winehouse will have more Tuesday while being kept under observation.

Goodman says the 24-year-old singer "seems to be fine in herself, but they are taking their time to be sure."

The spokesman said Winehouse collapsed at her north London home Monday after signing autographs for a group of fans. An assistant caught her before she hit the ground.

Winehouse's career has prospered despite wild nights, missed concerts and stints in drug rehab. The Sunday Times newspaper's annual Rich List has estimated her wealth at $20 million.

Prosecutors have refused to pursue a case in which Britney Spears allegedly ran over the foot of a paparazzo while driving.

After reviewing a tape of the incident, a prosecuting attorney determined that the photographer must have placed his foot in the way of the pop star's vehicle.

In a report issued Friday (June 13), Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney stated that the "only way the victim's foot could have been where the video indicates it to be was by the victim placing it in that location."

The photographer, who was not identified in the report, filed a criminal complaint against Spears in May, reports the Associated Press.

The report also states that the scene surrounding Spears' car was chaotic, and that she was driving at a very slow speed in a straight line.

Taylor Dayne pleads no contest to reckless driving

|

Taylor Dayne has pleaded no contest to a reckless driving charge in connection with her March 6 arrest.

Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Richard Stone ordered the entertainer to serve two years' probation and complete a Mothers Against Drunk Driving program, district attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said.

Dayne wasn't present in court Monday and her attorney entered the plea on her behalf.

The singer had been charged with driving under the influence, but prosecutors decided the reckless driving charge was more appropriate, Gibbons said.

Best known for her 1987 hit, "Tell It to My Heart," Dayne launched a comeback in 2005 that was chronicled on the VH1 series "Remaking: Taylor Dayne."

Jerry Hall has said she would “never” let her daughters end up in a relationship with a man like their womanising father, Mick Jagger.

The couple had four children together - daughters Elizabeth & Georgia-May and sons James & Gabriel - during their 20 years relationship, which started while Mick was still married to first wife Bianca Pérez-Mora Macías. Their relationship ended after it was discovered that Brazilian model Luciana Gimenez was pregnant with Mick’s baby.

When asked if she’d want her daughters to be in a relationship like the one she had with the Rolling Stone frontman, Jerry told Psychologies magazine: “No, never. But I don’t think they would. They have far more confidence than I did, and they have great boundaries. It took me longer to learn those.

“I always thought he would change, and that was my big mistake. People don’t change, unless they really want to, and you can’t make them.

“I probably stayed with him for longer than I should have done. All I can say is that I really loved him, and he really loved me, in spite of all the other women.”

EastEnders star Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell in the soap, has had an emergency operation on his hand after falling down stairs on set.

Doctors put pins in his bones and gave him 30 stitches after he was taken to hospital near the BBC One show's Hertfordshire studios.

The housemates in the ninth series of Big Brother have missed out on being awarded a gift token after failing a new task.

The group's failure to correctly sort some 6,250 grams of crisps represented the second task failure of this year's show - after the secret couple task of week one - while housemate Dennis McHugh later called a group meeting regarding personality clashes in the house.

Having gathered on the sofa on Monday morning, the housemates awaited instructions while Sylvia Barrie discovered the details of the new task.

Upon her return, she revealed that the housemates were required to sort 6,250 grams of potato crisps into four different flavours, with Big Brother placing a giant bowl of salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, Worcester sauce and ready salted crisps in the garden.

The group were required to lick each and every individual crisp and then allocate it to the appropriately labelled crisp bag and had two hours in which to sort all 6,250 grams.

A token was on offer if housemates sorted the crisps, but eating the crisps was strictly forbidden and any housemate caught breaking the rule was warned of severe consequences.

The group set up a production line, with blind housemate Mikey Hughes criticised for blowing his nose and dropping the tissue into a crisp barrel.

But despite spending more than three hours licking the crisps, Big Brother revealed that with an error margin of 11 per cent, the housemates had lost the task.

While the group laughed, student Luke Marsden exclaimed: "That means we licked all those crisps for jack all."

Later that evening Dennis announced a group meeting to deal with "how issues and situations are being vented in the house".

Alexandra De-Gale, about whom Channel 4 received hundreds of complaints over her bullying, admitted that should she have an issue with people, she "likes to take it up then and there and to the person's face".

Sylvia later confided in Big Brother in the diary room about Alexandra's behaviour, saying: "I can't believe I've been associated with her."

Denise Richards Defends Her Dogs

|

Denise Richards has defended her family's large pet collection, insisting all the animals are well looked after.

The actress has showed off some of her pets - five dogs, four cats and three pigs - on her reality TV show Denise Richards: It's Complicated, but has refuted reports her home is overrun by the creatures after a source claimed she owns "over 20 dogs" and that "her place is like a zoo".

But Richards has hit back at the claims, telling the New York Post's Page Six, "I will say I have 10 dogs. Is there a law against having a lot of animals?

"My family loves animals, I live on a ranch, and I provide a great environment for them, so I am not sure why there is so much drama about how many animals I have."

Honda rolls out new zero-emission car with Laura Harris

lunes, 16 de junio de 2008 |

Honda's new zero emission, hydrogen fuel cell car rolled off a Japanese production line Monday and is headed to Southern California, where Hollywood is already abuzz over the latest splash in green motoring.

The FCX Clarity, which runs on hydrogen and electricity, emits only water and none of the noxious fumes believed to induce global warming. It is also two times more energy efficient than a gas-electric hybrid and three times that of a standard gasoline-powered car, the company says.

Japan's third biggest automaker expects to lease out a "few dozen" units this year and about 200 units within three years. In California, a three-year lease will run $600 a month, which includes maintenance and collision coverage.

Among the first customers are actress Jamie Lee Curtis and filmmaker husband Christopher Guest, actress Laura Harris, film producer Ron Yerxa, as well as businessmen Jon Spallino and Jim Salomon.

"It's so smooth," said Harris, who played villainness Marie Warner on the hit TV show "24" and was flown over by Honda for the ceremony. "It's like a future machine, but it's not."

The FCX Clarity is an improvement of its previous-generation fuel cell vehicle, the FCX, introduced in 2005.

A breakthrough in the design of the fuel cell stack, which is the unit that powers the car's motor, allowed engineers to lighten the body, expand the interior and increase efficiency, Honda said.

The fuel cell draws on energy synthesized through a chemical reaction between hydrogen gas and oxygen in the air, and a lithium-ion battery pack provides supplemental power. The FCX Clarity has a range of about 270-miles per tank with hydrogen consumption equivalent to 74 miles per gallon, according to the carmaker.

The 3,600-pound vehicle can reach speeds up to 100 miles per hour.

John Mendel, executive vice president of America Honda Motor Co., said at a morning ceremony it was "an especially significant day for American Honda as we plant firm footsteps toward the mainstreaming of fuel cell cars."

The biggest obstacles standing in the way of wider adoption of fuel cell vehicles are cost and the dearth of hydrogen fuel stations. For the Clarity's release in California, Honda said it received 50,000 applications through its website but could only consider those living near stations in Torrance, Santa Monica and Irvine.

Initially, however, the Clarity will go only to a chosen few starting July and then launch in Japan this fall.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has called for a statewide network of hydrogen stations, but progress has been slow.

The state has also recently relaxed a mandate for the number of zero-emission cars it aims to have on roads. By 2014, automakers must now sell 7,500 electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, a reduction of 70 percent.

Spallino, who currently drives Honda's older FCX and was also flown in for the ceremony, said he will use the Clarity to drive to and from work and for destinations within the Los Angeles area. The small number of hydrogen fuel stations is the "single limiting factor" for fuel cell vehicles, he said.

"It's more comfortable, and it handles well," said Spallino of Redondo Beach. "It's got everything. You're not sacrificing anything except range."

The world's major automakers have been making heavy investments in fuel cells and other alternative fuel vehicles amid climbing oil prices and concerns about climate change.

Although Honda Motor Co. was the first Japanese automaker to launch a gas-electric hybrid vehicle in the U.S. in 1999, it has been outpaced by the dominance of Toyota's popular Prius.

Toyota announced in May that it has sold more than 1 million Prius hybrids, while both the Honda Insight and the hybrid Accord have been discontinued due to poor sales.

Honda also plans to launch a gas-electric hybrid-only model, as well as hybrid versions of the Civic, the sporty CR-Z and Fit subcompact.

Toyota has announced that it would launch a plug-in hybrid with next-generation lithium-ion batteries by 2010 and a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle later in Japan later this year.

U.S. carmaker General Motors Corp. plans to introduce a Chevrolet Volt plug-in electric vehicle in 2010. It also introduced a test-fleet of hydrogen fuel cell Equinox SUVs.

Honda has no plans for a plug-in electric vehicle. President Takeo Fukui said he does not believe current battery technology is good enough to develop a feasible car.

The company has not revealed how much each car costs to make, and it is unclear when, or if, the car will be available for mass-market sales. Takeo has set a target for 2018, but meeting that goal will depend on whether Honda can significantly lower development and assembly costs as well as market reaction to fuel cells.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Billie Piper

|

Belle is a happy hooker — smart, confident of her skills and unapologetic about her profession. It's Hannah, the Englishwoman behind the faux French name, who has some issues in Showtime's new comedy, Secret Diary of a Call Girl (tonight, 10:30 ET/PT).

Diary is inspired by the story of the real Belle, a pseudonymous London call girl whose diaries became a sensation in England. The TV series sets its Belle (Dr. Who's Billie Piper) on her own course as a newer version just getting used to the double life: high-end escort to affluent clients, "nighttime legal secretary" to family and friends.

Piper's Belle, who frequently talks directly to the camera, is frank with the viewer: "The first thing you should know about me is I'm a whore." She is assigned clients by a madam (Cherie Lunghi).

"She's at this phase where she's quite comfortable with who she is and what she's doing," the actress says.

In picking up the eight-episode Diary series, which was a hit in England, Showtime veered from internal development, which has yielded such critically praised series as Weeds, Dexter and Brotherhood.

"We've been developing some things in this arena but never quite got it right," says Showtime entertainment president Robert Greenblatt. Calling Piper "captivating," he says: "You care about (Belle) and about her straddling two worlds. It's funny and sexy and just seemed like it would really work over here." Diary fits Showtime's style of comedy, a provocative topic with dramatic and emotional elements "so it isn't just a frothy thing."

He says it fits well with its lead-in, Weeds, and its pot-selling suburban mom. "They're very different shows, but both have a strong, maverick woman in the center. They're both doing illicit things. They're both in the world of hedonism."

Early in the first episode, Belle explains, a bit defiantly, that she likes her job and is neither an abuse victim nor addicted to anything, "except maybe for the fourth season of The West Wing." Critics have complained that Secret Diary glamorizes prostitution, but Greenblatt says no political statements are intended.

Piper, 25, says Diary simply plays off the world of the real Belle, whom she met briefly. "I was more familiar with the darker, more tragic side to prostitution," she says. But Belle "is very graceful, very composed, very articulate. You realize there are very different extremes to prostitution."

But the work exacts emotional costs in Secret Diary, whose first-season episodes all were written by women. Belle is alone as she hides her employment from her parents and her best friend, Ben (Iddo Goldberg). The secretary ruse works, the character explains, because it sounds "so boring, no one ever asks me about it."

"Belle can't tell anybody what she does," Piper says. "It's fear of judgment and repulsion and disgrace from her family, and so she doesn't really gamble with that."

For a show about sex, Diary doesn't show that much of it, but there are skimpy outfits and a little nudity. "You feel like you've seen more than you actually have," Piper says. However, "I don't want to do every sex scene in underwear, because that's not realistic. (Some) scenes require a bit of nipple and a lot of butt-baring."

Big Brother 9 housemates fail the crisps task

|

The 'Big Brother' housemates have failed their most recent task, which involved licking 6,250g of crisps.

The 15 housemates had to sort the crisps into four different flavours - cheese and onion, salt and vinegar, ready salted and Worcester sauce - by licking them, with a 5% margin of error allowed for each flavour.

Had they succeeded, the housemates would have won an extra luxury token.

But their margin of error on cheese and onion was 8% and 11% on Worcester sauce.

Sylvia was none-too-happy with the result, saying: "How dare they? Straining my tastebuds, confusing my tongue. How dare they?"

Nerves look set to be further frayed this week with the housemates running short of food.

Princess Eugenie frolicking naked

sábado, 14 de junio de 2008 |

Princess Eugenie of York was found frolicking naked in the grounds of her posh school during a booze-filled night with friends. Eugenie, who is the younger daughter of the Duke and Duchess of York, is said to have "frolicked like nymphs" with her classmates on the lawns of the Marlborough College, Wilts. The 18-year-old Princess has been given a severe telling off and told not to stay weekends at the school, where she has been studying for five years as a 23,000 pounds-a-year boarder.

The incident would have gone unnoticed had a senior staff member not been woken up by playful shrieks and discovering about a dozen pupils dancing around in their birthday suits under the midnight moonlight in St Trinian's-style scenes.

"The girls had been drinking, possibly in a local pub, and decided to let their hair down. It was a couple of weeks ago just before people started taking their A-levels and some find exams all a bit stressful. For some reason they stripped off and started prancing about.

"It was light-hearted and they were sort of frolicking like nymphs. But they got too noisy and staff discovered them. They had to quickly pick up their clothes and hot-foot it inside," the student added. Eugenie, who is sixth in line to the throne, is sitting A-levels in art, history of art and English.

"She and the others were told they had to go home and only return to take their exams. There were not enough staff on Saturdays and Sundays to supervise them, and they were told they couldn't be trusted to behave," an insider added. A spokeswoman for the Duchess of York declined to comment.

Last night on Big Brother 9 Stephanie McMichael was the first housemate to be evicted from the house after only surviving only eight days inside the house. Stephanie muttered tearfully “I just want to go” and hugged fellow contestants. Then she sobbed to Rebecca: “How have I upset so many people?”

Stephanie had been up for eviction along with Mario, Lisa and Luke after they failed to fool other housemates in the fake wedding task. One thing for sure is if Alex was up she would have gone with out a doubt she is pure evil.

And for the first time in Big Brother history, host Davina McCall announced who was being evicted from the studio, rather than outside the house in an attempt by Channel 4 to stop housemates hearing boos from the crowd. Stephanie was greeted by the cheers of fans as she left smiling in a pink mini-skirt and strapless top.

Stephanie slammed bitchy housemate Alex as a “bully” and predicted she would be up for eviction next alongside Mario.

The former 'Baywatch' babe and the Motley Crue drummer - who have two children together, Brandon, 12, and 10 year old Dylan - have decided to give their romance another go and Pammie and the boys have now moved into Tommy's house. The rocker said: "We've only given it a try 800 times - 801, here we go! "It's awesome, man. It's definitely working. You can tell on the kids' faces - they're happy when we're together."

The couple married in February 1995 in a beachside ceremony, after only knowing each other for 96 hours. They famously starred in their own X-rated sex tape, which was later stolen from their home and leaked onto the internet. The pair divorced in 1998, after Tommy was arrested and charged with spousal abuse and was later sentenced to six months in jail. Since the divorce they have rekindled their relationship several times. In that time, Pammie, 40, has married Kid Rock but they split after four months of marriage. Last year, she wed Rick Salomon - who famously starred in and released the Paris Hilton sex tape 'One Night in Paris' - in a Las Vegas ceremony. However, the marriage was annulled this March.
