Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have donated $1 million to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict (EPCC) through their charity, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

The EPCC, which Jolie co-founded in 2007, will donate $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero Program, which provides educational tutors and counseling to 2,500 kids. The other $500,000 is earmarked for organizations helping Iraqi women and children to survive. They include Women for Women International; The International Rescue Committee; and NineMillion.org, which is part of the United National High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

"These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal," says Angie, who has been a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador since 2001. "We hope to encourage others to give to these great organizations," says Brad.

In May 2007, Brad and Angie donated $1 million for humanitarian efforts assisting some 4 million people affected by the crisis in Darfur. The previous year, the superstar couple donated over $8 million, giving mostly to Doctors Without Borders and the Global AIDS Alliance.
