BBC Three is to air a season of programmes looking at the notion of beauty.
A six-part reality show, Britain's Missing Top Model, will see eight women with disabilities compete to become mainstream fashion models. The series seeks to raise awareness of disability and the lack of disabled models.
The Beauty Season, to air in July, will also feature several one-off programmes with some well-known names.
In Alesha: Look But Don't Touch, Alesha Dixon will look at how re-touching and airbrushing may be encouraging women to seek body perfection.
Konnie Huq's When Beauty Goes Wrong will explore the potential unforeseen consequences of cosmetic treatments, while Am I Beautiful? will see Shazia Mirza look at cultural takes on female appearance.
Other shows include popstar Jamelia making her directorial debut with a film on Britain's booming human hair extension business.
"This bold season aims to explore the pressures young people feel under to conform to mainstream and deeply ingrained perceptions of beauty," said BBC Three controller Danny Cohen.
"Through Britain's Missing Top Model and the documentary experiences of women like Alesha, we want to open up the debate about what it means to be beautiful in a world in which we are continually bombarded with images of apparent perfection."
