A man has been arrested over the theft of a camera containing pictures of Prince William and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton, on holiday, it has been revealed.
The Sun newspaper reported that it was approached by two men trying to sell photos of the couple on the Caribbean island of Mustique.
Police were informed and a man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods, Scotland Yard confirmed.
A spokesman said: "A 25-year-old man was arrested at 9am on the morning of August 31 on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods.
"He was taken to a west London police station and bailed to return on a date in September."
The two men, who called themselves George and John, wanted £50,000 for the pictures, the newspaper reported.
The images included shots of William and Kate, both 26, in a swimming pool and with her family.
The camera is thought to have been stolen from Kate's younger sister, Pippa.
Clarence House refused to comment on the report and referred questions to Scotland Yard.
The Prince is currently on secondment within the Armed Forces as he learns about how they work.
