The stars of screen and fashion came together last night for the year's most stylish awards ceremony, the 2008 council of fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards.
Taking place at New York's Public Library, the evening became something of a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent, with many attendees, including Naomi Campbell, wearing styles from the late designer.
Diane Von Furstenberg paid tribute to YSL, who was an old friend, in her opening speech, 'Yves was an artist who always surprised us. He used to say he wanted to be Matisse, but I think Matisse would have wanted to be him.'
Big winners of the night included Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa for womenswear, menswear winner Tom Ford and Tory Burch for accessories.
Costa's designs also proved a hit amongst the celebrity guests, with both Eva Mendes and Cynthia Nixon choosing his stunning styles.
Other stylish stars included Victoria Beckham, who honoured Marc Jacobs in a one-shouldered heavily ruffled gown from his autumn/winter collection and Maggie Gyllenhaal in a green checkerboard tunic by Proenza Schouler.
