Wife 'furious' at Langham's behaviour

The wife of actor Chris Langham has said he was "stupid" to download child pornography.

The Thick Of It star, 58, was released from prison in November after being found guilty on 15 counts of making indecent images of children.

He denied the charges during his trial, claiming that he had looked at the pictures as research for a paedophile character he was planning for a TV show. He also said he was abused himself by a family friend when he was eight years old.

Christine Langham, 54, said she had always accepted his explanation, but admitted that she was furious at his behaviour.

In a joint interview with the actor, she said: "We had to talk about it quite thoroughly for me to understand it. But I think I know him so well. I did have to, initially, look at the gravity of the situation and really examine it, but I didn't ever disbelieve or distrust Chris.

"There are times when I've been angry. I've said to him, 'Did you not think first?'. I know it's not about him having any sexual entertainment out of these images, but I did say, 'For someone so intelligent, why were you so stupid?'."

She also revealed that the couple and children Harry, 11, and 13-year-old Emily are struggling to keep their home because Langham has been unemployed since his arrest in December 2005.
