Jessica Alba has reportedly criticised a number of her fellow Hollywood actors in a new interview with Elle magazine.
First, she admitted to being umimpressed by High School Musical star Zac Efron when she met him at last year’s Teen Choice Awards. The pair both won ‘Hotties of the Year’ awards but Jessica doesn’t see it in Zac.
She told Elle: “He looks like a child with a lot of make-up. I was like, ‘My God, you’re just a little kid’.”
She then went onto dismiss suggestions that Eva Mendes was famous enough to lead a movie. Jessica explained she, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez are the only non-white actresses that can open a movie and when the interviewer added Eva Mendes to the selection, Jessica questioned whether Hitch and We Own the Night star Eva had the pulling power to “greenlight” a film on her own.
But she conceded it is hard finding any roles as a Latin actress in Hollywood: “I’m proud of my heritage. I only know a Mexican-American upbringing. [But] nobody really knows what to do with me.”
“I’m half Latin, but I grew up in the States, and I can’t get roles playing a Latina because I don’t speak Spanish.”
“And I don’t want to be the best friend, or the promiscuous girl, or the maid, because those stereotypes still exist with Latin roles. I want to be a leading lady.”
But she wants her leading man to pull his weight too. Later in the interview, she criticised Into the Blue co-star Paul Walker for getting the top billing on the film when she - and her bikini-clad body - did all the promotional work: “Paul was the lead, Paul helped develop it. You wouldn’t believe how much that kid got paid! And I don’t think he did one ounce of publicity.”
And as if that wasn’t enough, she added that she felt her latest film Good Luck Chuck came out like “porn”: “It wasn’t supposed to be like that.”
