Lindsay Lohan has group therapy with her family

Lindsay Lohan is having group therapy with her family in a bid to help the actress beat her demons.

The Mean Girls starlet joined her parents and sister to discuss her problems in New York last week.

An insider told a US newspaper: “The Lohan family sat down for a therapy session in Manhattan together. “They are all trying to work things out together, and they know they have a long way to go.”

Mum Dina, her father Michael and little sister Ali, 13, all attended the session. But younger brother, 11-year-old Dakota, was allowed to sit it out.

The group therapy is thought to be part of Lindsay’s outpatient rehabilitation program. Lohan spent 84 minutes in jail earlier this month after admitting to drunken driving and cocaine possession. The charges stemmed from arrests following an alleged car chase in July, and a crash in Beverley Hills in May.

She recently finished a second stint in a rehabilitation centre in Utah, after admitting she had a drink and drugs problem in August. “It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs,” the star said in a statement at the time.

It comes as Lohan, 21, spent the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend in her native Long Island, New York with her family - and new boyfriend, Riley Giles.

But according to US reports snowboarder Giles, whom the actress met in rehab, spent more time partying than with her family, while she avoided nightclubs.

A pal said: “Lindsay is trying to fill her time with non-drinking and non-partying activities. “Riley was not very well behaved when he came back to New York with Lindsay. He was out every night without her, and I’m not sure how much longer that relationship is going to last.”

A spokeswoman for Lohan was unavailable for comment.
