Amy Winehouse misses her own birthday party

Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse missed what was to be the biggest event of her year - her 25th birthday.

Friends and family kept on waiting for the singer at the After Dark club in Soho, New York, where a surprise celebration had been arranged for her, reports dailymail.co.uk.

But the birthday girl never arrived and as the evening wore on, they had no choice but to carry the celebrations on behalf of her.

Winehouse has also been in the news recently when she caused shock waves after ordering 48 bottles of Jack Daniel's at Bestival.

Fans fear that the singer, who is reportedly suffering from emphysema caused by smoking crack cocaine, is just days from death.

Her father, Mitch, said that her Bestival performance should be her last until she makes a recovery.
