Life at Colchester Zoo is the subject of a new television series fronted by former Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq. Zoo Days will be on air each day from Monday, June 9, on five for two weeks.
The 20 half hour programmes will give viewers a unique insight into what goes on behind the scenes at Colchester Zoo.
The programme has been given full access to the work of the zoo's keepers, with two crews filming for the last three months to capture what life is like at one of the UK's busiest zoos.
Highlights of the series include the birth of Colchester Zoo's third aardvark as well as other new arrivals during spring and early summer.
It's certainly been an eventful few months for the zoo. As well as plenty of new-born animals, it's opened a new exhibit called Worlds Apart which consists of six new enclosures, including a home for two rhinoceros iguanas and a walk-through tamarin exhibit.
Worlds Apart has been developed on the site of old Aquatic House and provides a much better environment for both animals and visitors.
It has also provided a new home for one of the zoo's water monitors and it is expected a pair of juvenile Cuban crocodiles will be kept there soon until they are homed at the new, state-of-the-art Tropical House currently being developed.
These are exciting times at Colchester Zoo and you can keep up with all the action with Zoo Days on five from Monday at 6.30pm.
