50 Cent told to keep blaze property

US rapper 50 Cent cannot sell the Long Island property where a 2.4 million dollar (£1.2 million) house was destroyed by fire last month, a judge has said.

State Supreme Court Justice Carol Edmead also ordered him to put insurance proceeds in a trust account pending the outcome of his dispute with his ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins.

Miss Tompkins claims the rapper promised her a house a decade ago, but had recently wanted to evict her and their 10-year-old son Marquise from the house in Dix Hills.

A suspicious fire destroyed the house on May 30. The 32-year-old rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, did not live there.

The rapper has been nominated for 13 Grammys, including one for the album Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. His UK hit singles include In Da Club and Candy Shop.
