Kylie Minogue Can't get US out of my head

Kylie Minogue is making a last-ditch attempt to crack America — against the advice of rock hermit Robbie Williams.

The Pop Princess began her assault yesterday when she chatted on The Today Show in New York.

She is also booked on Dancing With The Stars and talk shows The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Late Show to promote today’s US release of her album X.

Kylie has only had two top ten hits in the US — The Locomotion in 1988 and Can’t Get You Out Of My Head in 2002.

But her fans have been contacting radio stations and TV shows in the States begging them to give her greater exposure.

A source close to Kylie revealed: “It eats away at Kylie that she’s never hit the big time there.

“She has tried before and it didn’t happen. But being the kind of determined person she is, she’s giving it one more go.”

Kylie’s lack of success in the US is in sharp contrast with other nations around the globe.

In the UK and her homeland of Australia she has had dozens of top ten hits.

Viewers in the US yesterday praised her Today Show appearance.

She spoke honestly of her recent breast cancer battle, revealing: “I’m feeling great. It’s something that’s always with me and on my mind. But you get up and carry on.

“My diagnosis was almost a blessing in disguise because it came as I was mid-flight on tour. That’s why I wanted to get back on track — it was an incredible goal to have to get back on stage.”

Kylie then discussed why she has struggled in the States.

She revealed: “It’s a notoriously difficult market. To know where I fit within that market is very difficult.”

During a newspaper interview in the States the star also admitted she may never get married and have kids.

She said: “Maybe it’s not the life for me.”

I think it’s great Kylie is still ambitious after all her problems and 20 years topping the chart.

But her singer pal Robbie — who she recorded the hit Kids with in 2000 — has been trying to talk her out of it.

A source revealed: “Kylie has spoken about it with Robbie. He told her he loves being largely unknown when he’s at home in the States, while cash rolls in from the rest of the world.

“Robbie thinks she should keep the US as a place she can go to escape the spotlight. But Kylie doesn’t agree and has decided on one final push.”

I think Robbie is the last person Kylie should take career advice from.

He now spends his time stuffing muffins down his throat, playing himself at Scrabble and peering out his window trying to spot UFOs.

It would be like the former Take That star taking guidance from 1980s TV fruitcake David Icke.
