Carrie Underwood and Chace Crawford split by text

Carrie Underwood has revealed that she and now ex-boyfriend Chase Crawford broke up over text message.

“We broke up over text, so it’s like ‘peace out,’” Underwood, 25, told Extra at the Idol Gives Back taping in Hollywood Sunday. “It was completely mutual, we’re both fine.”

She said that they haven’t spoken to each other “in a while, but I mean, I don’t dislike him. So it’s no big deal.”

The romance “just didn’t work,” Underwood added, “and we both knew it didn’t work and [there are] no hard feelings at all whatsoever.”

Dating in the public eye is “difficult … because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are,” she said.

It was reported last week that the pair had split. The relationship reportedly came to an end because of their conflicting schedules.

“They couldn’t spend time together,” a source said. “It was hard.”

The pair had been dating since July last year.
