A carnival queen has been sacked from her job at a leisure centre after slapping a 15-year-old boy.
Romi-Jane Young, 21, was working at the sports centre in Accrington when she admits she `snapped' and struck out at the youngster who was on work experience from a local school.
Miss Young, of Huncoat, who won her crown last May, claims the youngster racially abused her.
She was sacked from her job as an attendant at Hyndburn Sports Centre after a disciplinary hearing at the town hall, but plans to continue her carnival queen duties with the full support of competition organisers Accrington Lions.
Miss Young, who is of mixed race, has written an explanation for her behaviour to the M.E.N.'s sister paper the Accrington Observer, in which she says `I felt I was being racially discriminated against and abused by this boy and yet he has got away scot-free.'
