REM have confirmed their Accelerate album will be previewed on Facebook's iLike application.
The veteran band's 14th studio LP will be available to share with friends on the social networking site from March 24. The album is released officially on March 31.
It is the first time a major artist has previewed their music on iLike.
Talking about the decision, singer Michael Stipe told Billboard: "I think you can either go with it or sit back and watch it happen, and I would rather be out on the field than in the bleachers."
REM's latest single 'Supernatural Superserious' was released on February 25.
The band announced last month that they would be playing four UK stadium shows between August 24-30.
