Paris Hilton is to star in 'My Name is Earl'

'The Hottie and the Nottie' star will play herself in a special hour-long episode of the hit US TV show.

The show's executive producer Greg Garcia joked: "When we wrote the role of Paris Hilton in the script, we weren't exactly sure who to go with for the role. But after an exhausting search we finally settled on a relatively unknown actress by the name of Paris Hilton.

"I can't wait to see what she does with the role and I can't wait for America to discover her."

Paris will appear in a dream sequence when the star of the show, Earl Hickey - played by Jason Lee - falls unconscious.

The episode, entitled 'I Won't Die with a Little Help from My Friends', is due to air in the US on April 3.
