High School Musical: Vanessa Hudgens Hits The Big Screen

Two years ago, the cast of High School Musical were virtual unknowns, just your everyday teenagers. Two years later, they are some of the biggest stars in the world. The success of the High School Musical movies have turned Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, and Vanessa Hudgens into pop stars. Star Zac Efron has, perhaps, enjoyed the most success. Last year, he appeared in Hairspray, a movie that earned the cast critical acclaim and several awards nominations. He has two new movies in the works, Me and Orson Welles and Seventeen. Now, his on and off screen girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens has a movie of her own.

Hudgens is the star of the new coming age comedy, Will. In the film, Hudgens plays the most popular girl in school who befriends a social outcast and forms a band with him. The two enter a battle of the bands contest together. There is no doubt that Will writers Todd Graff and Josh Cagan have every intention of using Hudgens' vocal chops in the movie.

The film stars Liam Aiken as the social outcast/Vanessa's new BFF. Aiken is well known to kids for his roles as Klaus in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events and Owen Baker in Good Boy. Friends star Lisa Kudrow will play Aiken's mother. She recently appeared in P.S. I Love You with Hilary Swank and has a new movie, Hotel For Dogs, on tap. The movie also stars Alyson Michalka, one half of the pop duo Aly and AJ, Friday Night Lights star Scott Porter, and rock icon David Bowie.

Coming up, Hudgens and Efron team up on screen one more time for High School Musical 3, set for the big screen. This week, London newspapers reported that Efron purchased Hudgens a diamond ring, in order to prove his commitment to her. It seems our little Gabriella is growing up!
