Hazleton's Obama Girl back with new Web video

Obama Girl is back and this time she’s a superhero fighting off the other candidates on behalf of the Illinois senator who wants to be president.

Hazleton’s Amber Lee Ettinger, who won nationwide attention last year with her Internet video, “I Got a Crush on Obama,” is back with a new online offering.

BarelyPolitical.com posted “Super Obama Girl” on its Web site Thursday. In just 18 hours, the video was viewed more than 500,000 times. On YouTube, where Ettinger can be seen in many different videos, “Super Obama Girl” had more than 141,000 views by Friday afternoon.

It was Ettinger who helped launch BarelyPolitical.com last June when the original Obama video was unveiled. “I Got a Crush on Obama” was recently named a 2007 video of the year by YouTube, AOL, Newsweek and People Magazine.

By year’s end, MSN.com had her listed as one of the 11 most influential women of 2007, alongside Hillary Clinton, J.K Rowling and Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in Pakistan last month.

Despite her appearance in the Obama Girl videos, Ettinger, daughter of Terry and Roseanne Ettinger of Hazleton, says she’s never met nor even spoken to Barack Obama.

Interviewed on MSNBC Friday afternoon, she said she has no plans to get into politics. “Right now I’m just focusing on modeling and acting,” she told MSNBC’s Lester Holt. “But I’m keeping my options open.”

In “Super Obama Girl,” Ettinger leaps tall buildings to fight off Bill and Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Mitt Romney and even Mike Huckabee supporter Chuck Norris, who gets a “POW!” in the face.

The minute-and-a-half-long video is edited and directed by Tom Small, with vocals by Leah Kauffman.
