Zac Efron Hospitalized

Zac Efron was rushed to the hospital to undergo emergency surgery. The 20 year old actor was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and suffered from appendicitis. He underwent surgery and is currently resting and recovering at the hospital. A rep for Efron said that he is feeling much better and released a statement today, saying, "He had his appendix removed and is recuperating."

Yesterday, High School Musical fans everywhere rejoiced upon hearing the news that the entire would officially be returning for the third and final installment of the film. Director Kenny Ortega is returning for the feature film, entitled High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

Last week, Ortega scored a Directors Guild of America award nomination for his work on High School Musical 2. The director couldn't be happy that the entire original cast has been assembled for the third movie. "I am the luckiest guy in the world, and I know it," he said in an interview with E! Online. "This will be our last time together, and I love working with these kids so much. It's going to be great."

In the most recent issue of Details magazine, Efron commented on the mammoth success of the High School Musical series. "It's weird, I don't feel like I deserve any of the attention," he said. "There's really nothing but one audition for a Disney Channel movie that separates me from 2,000 other brown-haired, blue-eyed guys in L.A., you know?" In that same interview, he addresses gay rumors saying, "Honestly, if the worst he can say about me is that I'm gay, then I think I'll be fine. I can handle it."

The movie is set for an October 24 release date and will feature Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman. The plot will revolve around Troy's relationship with Gabriella and their decision to attend different colleges.
