Britney Spears back in court over rant

Britney Spears has some explaining to do Monday if she wants to see her kids anytime soon.

The pop tart train wreck has a court date in which a judge is expected to grill her about her bizarro meltdown last week - assuming she even shows up.

Los Angeles Court Commissioner Scott Gordon will also hear from cops and rescue personnel who were called to Spears' mansion after she freaked out and refused to hand over the kids.

Spears' ex-hubby, Kevin Federline, already has temporary full custody of Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1 - and Brit lost visitation rights after her meltdown.

K-Fed's lawyer said Spears had better show up, or risk the consequences.

"You can't phone this one in," said the lawyer, Mark Kaplan. "She will have ... to persuade the court that she can have some visitation."

If Gordon decides to further suspend Spears' visitation rights, the singer may not see her sons until April, when she and Federline begin their battle for permanent custody.

Experts say Spears has virtually no chance of seeing the boys if she blows off today's hearing. The pop disaster already skipped one court date by claiming she was sick.

Things went from bad to worse Jan. 4, when she was taken to a hospital psych ward after she balked at handing over the kids. New York divorce lawyer Sue Moss said Spears had better be on her best behavior if she hopes for any shot at visitation.

"She needs to show the judge that ... the kids will be safe," Moss told the Daily News.
