The R&B singer was hospitalized Tuesday following a mild heart attack, his lawyer confirmed, but was said to be in "great spirits" Wednesday.
"He's recovering nicely," said attorney Phaedra Parks. "We thank everybody for their thoughts and prayers."
Brown, 40, has no history of heart problems. Parks said doctors attributed the attack to "stress and diet." He complained of chest pains Tuesday afternoon and was admitted to the Tarzana Regional Medical Center in suburban Los Angeles, where he made a goodbye video for friends and family just in case he didn't make it. TMZ was first to report the incident.
"I want to tell my kids I love you," Brown says weakly from his hospital bed in footage shot by x17online.com.
He goes on to give a shout-out to his "boys in New Edition" and clarifies that his health problems were not brought on by drug use, claiming he has been clean for two and a half years.
He had no specific message for his ex-wife, Whitney Houston.
As it turns out, there won't be any need for the video just yet, as Brown has "a great prognosis from his doctors," according to his rep.
The singer was expected to be released from the hospital later in the day and was still planning on performing at the V100 Taste of Soul concert and festival in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Brown is due in an Orange County courtroom Oct. 22 for a hearing in his ongoing custody battle with Houston over 14-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.
Houston currently has sole legal and physical custody of the teen, but Brown is seeking shared custody, as well as spousal and child support.
Both sides have been ordered to give depositions in the case. Houston has been given permission to tape hers, as she has moved to Atlanta with Bobbi Kristina, where she's working on a comeback album.
