Britney Spears was taken from her home by ambulance early Thursday and escorted to the hospital by more than a dozen police officers in cars, on motorcycles and in helicopters.
A Los Angeles police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the 26-year-old pop star was being taken to the hospital to "get help." The Los Angeles Times cited unidentified authorities who said Spears was being placed on a "mental evaluation hold."
Spears was taken to UCLA Medical Center, where her mother, Lynne, was seen leaving its psychiatric hospital at about 5:30 a.m.
When asked by a throng of paparazzi and reporters whether Britney was doing all right, Lynne Spears replied, "Yeah," before leaving in a Range Rover.
Hours earlier, shortly after 1 a.m., the motorcade that pulled away from Spears' residence was nearly the length of a football field. Along with the ambulance, it included police on nearly a dozen motorcycles and in two cruisers. Two police helicopters followed overhead.
The scene was more controlled than the one earlier this month when Spears also was taken away from her home in an ambulance.
On Jan. 3, police were called to her home when she refused to return her two young sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to ex-husband Kevin Federline, who has custody.
Officers had paramedics haul Spears to a hospital for undisclosed reasons. She was released after a day and a half in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Police also went to Spears' hilltop residence off Mulholland Drive on Monday night after someone reported a swarm of paparazzi trespassing in the singer's gated community. When officers arrived, they didn't see anyone trespassing, police said, but citations were issued for several illegally parked cars.
Spears has been in a highly public downward spiral since filing for divorce from Federline in November 2006.
Her bizarre antics include shaving her head bald, attacking a car with an umbrella and bringing along a paparazzo pal on trips to a courthouse in her child custody case.
Spears' child custody case has become a public spectacle, with her skipping depositions and twice this month arriving at the courthouse but not attending the hearing.
The most recent incident was last week, when Spears showed up at the downtown civil courts building for a chance to persuade a Superior Court commissioner to change his order and allow her to see her sons.
Dressed as if arriving for a cocktail party — wearing bright pink lipstick, sunglasses, shiny gold platform shoes and a very short black dress with a ruffled hem — Spears was driven into an underground garage and then entered the courthouse.
A court spokesman said she got through a security metal detector, then announced, "I want to leave," and returned to her car.

A video of Heath Ledger snorting cocaine has emerged.
The footage shows the late 'Brokeback Mountain' star snorting the class A drug after the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) Awards on January 29 2006.
US TV shows 'Entertainment Tonight' and 'The Insider' have purchased the tape for a reported $200,000, but bosses have now decided not to show the footage.
In a statement the two programs said: "Out of respect for Heath Ledger's family, 'Entertainment Tonight' and 'The Insider' have decided not to run the Heath Ledger video which has been circulating in the world's media."
The footage - which was shot at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont hotel without Heath's knowledge - shows the actor sniffing a "cocaine-like substance" off a table with a rolled-up bank note.
At one point Heath, who died in his New York apartment last week, talks about his former fiancé Michelle Williams and their two-year-old daughter Matilda, adding: "I'm going to get so much sh*t from my girlfriend. We have a baby together - Matilda, Matilda Rose."
Referring to his love of cannabis - an illegal drug often smoked in cigarette form - Heath added: "I used to smoke five joints a day."
The shows have also released a statement warning that if any media outlet chooses to show the footage, they are likely to be subject to lawsuits and fines.
It was revealed yesterday (30.01.08) that Michelle had attempted to get Heath to enter rehab to seek help for his reported drug problems.
The former 'Dawson's Creek' actress, who split from the actor in September 2007 following a two-year engagement, drove Heath to California's Promises Treatment Center in March 2006, but Heath refused to check in and instead promised Michelle he would kick his habit on his own.
Before the split, Michelle ordered Heath - who is believed to have abused cocaine, heroin and a "variety of pills" - to undergo a drugs test before she would allow him to spend time with Matilda.
Tributes flooded in Thursday for television star and veteran prankster Jeremy Beadle who died Wednesday from pneumonia at the age of 59.
One of the best known faces on TV during the 1980 and 1990s, Beadle attracted viewers in excess of 15 million for shows like You've Been Framed, Game For a Laugh and Beadle's About.
Born in Hackney, after school, he worked as an insurance clerk, music festival promoter, advertising salesman and assembly line worker.
His foray into television began as a writer and presenter of The Deceivers, a BBC2 history of swindlers and hoaxers, and Eureka, which told the stories behind everyday inventions.
In the last few years Beadle had been plagued by ill-health, having been diagnosed with leukaemia in 2005.
He was also a passionate fundraiser for Children with Leukaemia and is thought to have raised more than 100 million pounds for various charities.
Beadle was made an MBE in 2001.
Co-stars and stalwarts in large numbers paid tribute to the presenter Thursday.
"Jeremy and I were firm friends for nearly 30 years. I loved and admired him and I shall miss him desperately," said Henry Kelly, Beadle's co-presenter on 1980s hidden camera show Game For A Laugh.
Noel Edmonds, Beadle's one-time BBC "rival" said it was "a sad loss for TV and a great shame that a new audience have lost Jeremy Beadle".
"He often came on to dictionary corner on Countdown. He always did a lot of work, a lot of prep for the show, " said Carol Vorderman, who worked with Beadle on Countdown.
"He just loved all kinds of information. You could ask him about anything and he would know about it," she added.
Beadle is survived by his wife Sue, daughters Cassie and Bonnie, and his stepchildren Leo and Claire.
A man who identified himself as a freelance reporter was arrested outside the Los Angeles home of Brad Pitt, police said.
A housekeeper called police around noon Wednesday after she saw a car blocking the actor's driveway, Officer Karen Smith said.
The man got out of the car and asked which house belonged to Pitt, the housekeeper told officers.
The 25-year-old reporter was arrested for investigation of trespassing and taken into custody on a "private person's arrest," Smith said. It will be up to the housekeeper to decide whether to press charges.
Neither Pitt nor his partner, Angelina Jolie, were home at the time.

Duane "Dog" Chapman cannot be extradited to Mexico to face criminal charges in his capture of serial rapist and fugitive Andrew Luster in 2003, a three-judge panel in Mexico has ruled.
The unanimous ruling was handed down Tuesday. The TV bounty hunter, his son Leland Chapman and associate Tim Chapman faced being sent to the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, where they captured Luster, who had jumped a $1 million bond on charges that he drugged and raped three women.
"He's a free man," Chapman's San Francisco-based attorney, James A. Quadra, said in a telephone interview late Tuesday. "They can't reinstate any criminal charges and as a result of that, there's no basis for them to then seek extradition."
Luster's disappearance during his trial in California set off an international manhunt by police, FBI and bounty hunters trying to recoup some of the bond money. After his capture, he was taken back to the U.S. to serve a 124-year prison sentence.
Because bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, prosecutors in that country charged the trio with detaining Luster and asked U.S. authorities to arrest Chapman and his colleagues and send them to Mexico.
"The three of them — Duane, Leland and Tim — have always been absolutely certain they did the right thing and proud of what they accomplished," Quadra said.
A judge in Mexico dismissed the deprivation of liberty charges in July, ruling prosecutors had taken too long in their attempts to bring the trio to trial. But Mexican prosecutors appealed the ruling.
"We are ecstatic that this nightmare is finally over, and happy to see the Mexican justice system works," Chapman and his wife, Beth, said in a statement. "We can all now move forward."
Quadra said Chapman and his crew could return to Mexico one day.
"Dog loves what he does. He likes to capture the bad guy. If a bad guy is in Mexico, who knows what Dog will do in the future," he said. "At this point, he wants to relax and enjoy the fact he doesn't have this hanging over his head. The future will bring what the future brings, but I don't think Dog is going to sit quietly."
The A&E network put Chapman's "Dog the Bounty Hunter" show indefinitely on hold last November after a private phone conversation between the reality star and his son Tucker was posted online.
The National Enquirer posted an audio clip of Chapman using a slur repeatedly in reference to his son's black girlfriend.
Chapman apologized and vowed to never utter the word again. He has met with several black leaders over the past several months.

Victoria Beckham has posed nude for fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and put her name behind his fashion campaign to warn people about the dangers of skin cancer.
Posh appears naked on a T-shirt which has also been signed by her according to The Sun newspaper.
The T-shirt will be on sale in Marc Jacobs' shops from next week.
Beckham said her decision to get behind the campaign comes after she and hubby David moved to sunny California.
"Since we moved to California I have realised how important it is to practise safe sun for myself and to keep my three boys skin well protected as well.
"Skin cancer is a huge problem and I really wanted to help raise awareness by taking part in Marcs initiative."
Beckham's latest contribution to fashion comes after Australian supermodel Jennifer Hawkins recently joined a swag of Australian designers who backed marie claire magazine's SunSmart campaign.
The campaign was apart of the mag's 150th birthday issue.
Jim Carrey has finished filming his latest comedy, Yes Man - and marked the occasion with his own brave stunt.
The US actor plays Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self help programme based on one simple principle: Say yes to everything... and anything.
Saving the best for last, as he was shooting Yes Man's final scenes, Jim jumped off the historic concrete arch bridge known as the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena, California.
"This was an opportunity for me to, I kind of like, finagled my way into it," said the 46-year-old.
"I just told them, 'Last day. We'll get all principle photography out of the way and we'll do it.' It's what the movie is about. It's about saying yes to life."
Yes Man, which also stars Zooey Deschanel, Danny Masterson and Molly Sims, opens in the US on December 19.
She’s on a downward spiral, and Amy Winehouse’s mother, Janis Winehouse, is prepping for the worst for her troubled daughter.
“I’ve already come to terms with her being dead,” she tells The Mirror.
“I’ve steeled myself to ask her what ground she wants to be buried in, which cemetery. Because drugs will get her if she stays on this road.”
Amy Winehouse, 24, checked into rehab last Thursday after British tabloid The Sun released a video of her apparently using a crack pipe.
One wonders if Amy is stashing crack in that beehive.
“I’ve known for a long time that my daughter has problems,” Janis said.
“But seeing it on screen, on video truly rammed it home. I realize my daughter could be dead within the year.”
Janis Winehouse said her daughter will be honored at next month’s Grammy Awards, “but part of me thinks she won’t be alive by then.
“I look at Heath Ledger and Britney Spears. She’s on their path. It’s like watching a car crash - this person throwing all these gifts away.”
While the cause of Ledger’s death is still unknown, you can’t argue that Amy and Britney Spears are on a downward trajectory and need help.
Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has denied reports that he had a secret heart operation in 2007 and wants to reassure his family, friends and fans who might have believed the rumours.
McCartney explained that he usually doesn't try to deny media reports because "most of it is completely inaccurate". But he has chosen to speak out about it because it's related to his health.
Contactmusic.com quoted him as saying: "People are ringing and sending SMS to me saying, 'Are you okay?' And I hadn't seen the report, so I was puzzled by so many enquiries about my health. So, I think it's a good time to put this rumour to rest.
"What happened was, over a year ago during a routine medical examination, there was a minor irregularity, which I needed to have tests for and which I have now been assured is completely fine.
"The media have only just recently reported an exaggerated version of this and that is why people have been asking me if I am okay. So this is where the story has come from. The media reports have, as usual, completely distorted the story. I'm happy to say that I feel great and I have passed my most recent medical with flying colours."

Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has reportedly left husband Ashley Cole for a "break" after allegations the footballer cheated on her.
Her agent insisted the couple were still together but confirmed the singer had gone on a break in order to think things through.
ITN quotes him as saying: "They are definitely still together. There is obviously lots of stuff going on at the moment and Cheryl has gone away for a break to clear her head for a few days."
It has been alleged Chelsea player Cole cheated on his wife with a hairdresser.
It has also emerged that the singer recently told OK! magazine that later this year she wanted to "start working on that baby. I want to be a young mum".
Pop singer Natalie Imbruglia was all smiles last night as she rang in her 33rd birthday at an exclusive London restaurant.
The celebration comes just weeks after she announced her marriage to Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns was over.
Despite her recent heartache, the star arrived at the celebrity haunt in high spirits and beamed as she left with a giant bunch of roses and a Hermes bag in tow.
Natalie returned to London in early January after a trip to Sydney where she was spotted spending time with Daniel over the festive period.
But despite their show of unity, the pair annouced their split just days later.
In a joint statement, the pair said: "While we are very sad that our marriage has ended, we want to make it clear that our parting is amicable and we remain friends.
"This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly.
"However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us.
"We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together."
The couple met at an awards show party in 1999 and married four years later on New Year's Eve in a beachside ceremony in Queensland.
Natalie remained based in the UK, while Daniel lived for much of the time 10,500 miles away in Australia.
Before her marriage Natalie was linked to the American singer Lenny Kravitz and "Friends" actor David Schwimmer.
More recently, she has been linked to comic David Walliams, but insists he is just a friend.
Britney Spears has seen a psychiatrist for "mental issues", according to US talk show host Barbara Walters.
Walters said that the 26-year-old's manager, Sam Lutfi, had contacted her.
Mr Lutfi told her the pop star was suffering from "mental issues which are treatable", Walters said on her show, The View.
Spears lost custody of her two sons earlier this month after refusing to hand them over to her ex-husband at a scheduled pick-up time.
Mr Lutfi had been staying with Spears constantly, "and he got in touch with us", Walters said.
"He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."
"She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother - and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do," she said.
Troubled Spears filed for divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline in November 2006.
Reports have surfaced that Lindsay Lohan was seen drinking vodka last Friday night at Manhattan hotspot Beatrice Inn. Lohan was spotted there with on-and-off boy toy Stavros Niarchos, and Hills hearthrob Brody Jenner.
Friends say that if Lohan did indeed imbibe a drink or two, fans shouldn't worry. "Lindsay is learning how to work through her addictions and, once in a while, she chooses to have a cocktail," a friend told Rush & Molloy. But many addiction experts believe that casual drinking by someone with an alcohol addiction problem is dangerous.
Lindsay spent several months last year battling her personal demons at Utah's Cirque Lodge, and left the rehab center in October of 2007.
If true, this wouldn't be La Lohan's first fall off the sobriety wagon. In December, she admitted to throwing back some champagne during a New Year's Eve party in Italy.
Calls to Lohan's rep for comment were not immediately returned
John Loughton has won Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack with Emilia finishing as the runner up.
The two remaining housemates were sat on the sofa holding hands when Dermot O'Leary told them their fate.
"What?" shrieked John, in a state of disbelief.
"You've won John!" replied Emilia.
Once the result had sunk in, he ecstatically hugged the acrobat and was congratulated by O'Leary.
"You deserve it so much more than me!" admitted second-placed Emilia, who left the house joking that she was "going to faint". She was also shocked by the amount of booing coming from the crowd outside.
Inside the house, John hugged O'Leary who told him that he was a deserving winner. The newly crowned Big Brother winner managed to successfully negotiate the stairs, after joking he would trip up on them, and was greeted by fireworks and rapturous cheers from the crowd.
At the time the lines closed, John had 53.9% of the vote while Emilia received 46.1%.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is single again after his relationship with actress girlfriend Laura O'Toole came to an end.
The 18-year-old actor started dating Laura after meeting during the West End stage play Equus.
Both appeared in the steamy play and had to strip in raunchy sex scenes.
But it is understood the couple have agreed to end their romance and are now just good friends.
The news comes just days before the play Equus goes on a four-month UK tour.
Laura said in a recent interview: "Daniel and I are still good friends and have a good time when we see each other. We just have to be realistic."
Dublin-born Laura, 22, understudied the role of his girlfriend, Jill, in Equus, a character who appeared in a lengthy nude sex scene with multi-millionaire Radcliffe.
As Joanna Christie played the female lead, Miss O'Toole was called upon only once to strip off on stage with Radcliffe, who was then 17.
The play ended in May last year but the pair were still secretly seeing each other, pictured walking in Fulham, West London, near Radcliffe's home, in November.
Radcliffe is thought to have been given access to an estimated £20 million on his 18th birthday last July.
At the time he was swamped by screaming female teenage fans at his Harry Potter premiere and generated even more hysteria when he admitted he was anxious to meet a girlfriend.
But it seems Daniel - who once dubbed actresses as "completely barking" - had his heart stolen by Miss O'Toole.
She made her name six years ago in the Irish TV series On Home Ground on channel RTE.
Producers of Equus were so impressed by her performance in the play, she will now be the female lead opposite Lily Allen's brother, Alfie, when the tour starts in Chichester on Thursday.
Radcliffe is set to open the play in New York towards the end of year.
He is also expected to get £25 million for starring in the final two Harry Potter movies.
Laura O'Toole's agent said: "I have no idea if they are still together. Her private life is her private life and I regard it as just that, private."
Christina Ricci´s fear of monkeys was validated on the set of her new film PENELOPE when a simian sidekick grabbed her breast and refused to let go.
The actress feared the chimpanzee, Chim Chim, was going to rip her boob off, and begged the ape's handlers to help her.
She explains, "I'm afraid of monkeys but I had decided not to be afraid of this monkey because no one else is: 'Everyone else thinks he's awesome so just be cool.' "It's the first day of shooting and I have this kitchen scene where I'm sitting down and the monkey is sitting right next to me.
"Of course it freaks out during the take and grabs my left breast and will not let go, and he's so strong. I'm thinking, 'This thing is gonna rip it's hand away and I will no longer have a boob there!' "I'm so freaked out and the whole rest of the actors are turned around so no one sees that this has happened to me and I'm like, 'Help, help' as quietly and calmly as possible so this thing does not freak out any further.
"Finally they got him off me but my fear is completely validated and I did not go near him for the rest of the shoot... Monkeys are crazy and you never what they'll grab onto; I don't like unpredictable animals."
Filming on Michelle Williams’ next movie has come to a halt while the actress is mourning the loss of her former fiancée Heath Ledger. She and Ledger were engaged in 2004 and had a daughter, Matilda Ledger, on October 2005. They announced their split in September 2007.
Williams was in Sweden filming the last scene for ‘Mammuth’ when she was told Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment on January 22, 2008. She was said to be “devastated” over the 28-year-old actor’s death.
Sources close to the production of her next movie, ‘Blue Valentine,’ said filming was set to start on February 25, but has now been postponed until Williams is ready.
“We will hold it off until she is ready. The production is in the process of sorting it out in respect to her,” said a film source. “We’re hoping she will come back and do the film and are happy to wait.”
Williams co-stars with Ryan Gosling. The movie is about a young married couple who are struggling with their relationship.
“The film is tailor made for those two so of course we want to wait. You can’t get much better than them,” added the source.
Amy Winehouse is surviving rehab by watching films of 1950s screen icon Marilyn Monroe.
The Back to Black hitmaker’s father, Mitch, said that Winehouse’s love for the late actress is helping her through her daily battle with drugs.
Amy is very ill and is suffering horrific withdrawal symptoms - shivering and constantly throwing up. Her body is expelling all the rubbish, The Sun quoted Mitch, as saying.
“One thing helping Amy is her Marilyn Monroe films. Amy loves Some Like It Hot. Shes a huge fan of Monroe and thinks shes wonderful, he added.
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old singer seems to be making sincere efforts to sort herself out.
Mitch said that the doctors were delighted to see the singers progress.
Amys battling bravely against addiction. Shes compliant and follows everything they tell her, Mitch said.
Let´s have a heated debate about Cheryl Cole, wife to Ashley Cole.
The Star says Cheryl wants to speak with Aimee Walton, the hairdresser who claims to have slept with the vomitous footballer.
Chances are any meeting will be captured on a camera phone.
Cheryl may also care to meet with Brooke Healey, a glamour model, who tells the Sun of Ashley: “He said he didn’t do protection and not to worry because everything would be cool…Luckily I didn’t get pregnant - but for weeks I was worried I might be.”
Cheryl may care to meet with both women and in Cheryl Cole Meets… invite fans to suggest questions via a website. The three can then talk about how none of them have been impregnated by Cole and if athletic support wear is safe.
Rules Of Engagement
Over in the Mirror, readers learn of Cheryl’s “five rules for cheating Ashley”. No, not that Ashley must not get caught, although that may well be the Golden Rule.
1. “Produce at least one romantic gesture every fortnight” – and if he can produce camera phone footage as proof, so much the better
2. Spend more ‘quality time’ with me – and less time on the computer and his PlayStation” – euphemisms, perhaps, for Walton and Healey, although in which order is uncertain
3. Stay away from your male friend – or anyone likely to lead you astray” - Ashley Cole is as straight as they come
4. Keep in constant contact so I can keep track on where you are” – A satnav device implanted into Ashley’s jockstrap will suffice
5. Avoid alcohol and big nights out for the next two months” – Detox
But the Mirror’s Polly Hudson has just one rule: “Don’t let me down, Cherly..ditch him.”
This is Polly’s “URGENT MESSAGE FOR MRS COLE”. She concludes her editorial: “Take a deep breath, be brave and show that disloyal loser the door. Make us all proud again. Please.”
Adnan Ghalib, the on and off boyfriend of troubled pop superstar Britney Spears, has compared their relationship to Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, who died in a car crash Aug 31, 1997, in Paris.
Ghalib had dared to speak of his relationship with Spears just after a month, though he's not sure how long the relationship could last, thesun.co.uk reports.
He said that there are similarities between Spears and the late Princess Diana. When the fact about media attention was mentioned as a similarity between Spears and Diana during the interview, Ghalib added, "Or dating an Arab".
Movie beauty Angelina Jolie fueled rumors she is pregnant by turning up to the Screen Actors Guild Awards in a flowing, loose-fitting dress.
The Tomb Raider star’s choice of outfit for the Los Angeles ceremony on Sunday night did nothing to dampen fevered speculation she is expecting twins.
US reports have claimed golden couple Angelina and Brad Pitt are looking forward to two new additions to their ever-growing family.
Brad’s rep refused to comment on the “unsubstantiated rumor” which emerged last week.
Angelina first sparked at another awards show on January 7.
She looked to have put on some weight and drank only water all night at the Critics’ Choice awards on January 7.
The screen siren already has a daughter and three adopted children with Brad.
Star magazine last week quoted a source saying: “Brad and Angelina are absolutely ecstatic.
“But I still think there will be more adoptions to come.”
Angelina was nominated for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role’ at the SAG Awards for her role as murdered journalist Daniel Pearl’s wife Mariane in ‘A Mighty Heart’.
But she missed out on the award, which went to veteran actress Julie Christie.
It is possible that Heath Ledger died from natural causes, it has been reported.
The Brokeback Mountain star was found dead at his apartment in Manhattan, New York last Tuesday.
The New York Police Department confirmed that drugs had been found in the apartment, but a 90-minute autopsy conducted last week was inconclusive.
Toxicology and tissue tests are currently being carried out to determine the cause of Ledger's death.
It has been suggested that he may have died of natural causes because the level of toxicity in his system caused by medication is arguably too low to have killed him, according to TMZ.
Authorities investigating Ledger's death have also ruled out reports claiming that the actor's masseuse was involved in a plot with Mary-Kate Olsen's bodyguard to remove illegal drugs from the room.
Officers insisted that they were with the bodyguard the entire time and there would have been no time to carry out such a plan.
A private memorial service was carried out for Ledger in Los Angeles on Saturday. His former girlfriend Naomi Watts and ex-fiancée Michelle Williams and their two-year-old daughter were present.
Lindsay Lohan has reportedly shacked up with none other than The Hills star Brody Jenner.
According to a U.S. publication the duo were spotted "all over each other" during a night out in New York on Friday - fuelling speculation that the pair are Hollywood's latest D-list hook-up.
According to a witness, Lohan and Jenner - who has been linked to Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - shared a "passionate" evening at both the Beatrice Inn and The Box.
"She likes him,” claims a source. "It's early, but they are more than friends. He seems to like her back.
"They're actually sweet together. It would be nice if she kept him around."
Nice maybe, but according to the latest reports Brody recently revealed that his "new girlfriend" Cora Skinner had "met the parents" and "She's part of the family."
“I’m choosing to keep her away from being on The Hills because that would bring a lot of conflict [and] drama to the relationship concerning me and Lauren [Conrad].”
A representative for Jenner is yet to comment.
Hannah Montana fandamonium has gone a step further than we ever would have expected.
A crazed 16 year-old was arrested on Tuesday while attempting to board a flight headed from Los Angeles to Nashville, all because he intended on crashing the jet into a Hannah/Miley Cyrus concert in Louisiana.
Problem is - well, besides the fact that he was caught with handcuffs, duct tape and rope in his carry-on - that the concert wasn't due to go down until three days after the flight.
So this whole Hannah Montana concert theory does seem a bit fishy. The kid, who put enough forethought into the plot to build a mock airplane cockpit in his bedroom, didn't find it worthwhile to figure out when exactly the show was happening?
In other Hanna Montana crazy fan news, Miley Cyrus has finally spoken out on the essay contest cheater who lied about her father dying in Iraq.
"I was really kind of upset. I mean, that's just not a cool scenario," Cyrus said in an interview set to air on Monday on Good Morning America. "But it just shows what people will do for a ticket."
She also spoke about the exorbitant sums poor mothers held hostage by their kids are forced to put up to get a seat to the show.
"People are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to come see one show. So we have to give 120 percent each time," Cyrus said.
All this comes a month after the Cyrus camp decided to extend the super-hyped and ultra-sold-out "Best of Both Worlds Tour."
Earlier this month, the star of the show was caught using a body double onstage. Days after fans created a stir online about the controversial look-alike switcheroo, Miley Cyrus' PR firm released a statement acknowledging that she did in fact use a body double, albeit briefly.
"To help speed the transition from Hannah to Miley, there is a production element during the performance of "We Got the Party" incorporating a body double for Miley," the firm said.
Six dates remain on the "Best of Both Worlds Tour," including Friday night's Lafayette, Louisiana show.
The Federal Communications Commission on Friday said it plans to fine the Walt Disney Co's ABC network $1.4 million for airing an episode of "NYPD Blue" in 2003 that showed a woman's nude buttocks.
The company said it opposes the fine and plans to appeal.
In a notice filed on Friday, the agency said 52 television ABC stations in the Central and Mountain time zones had aired the scene at 9 p.m. in violation of federal restrictions against broadcasting "obscene material" between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
The agency said it received "numerous complaints" about the scene, in which a young boy walks in on a nude woman about to take a shower.
Stations in the Eastern and Pacific time zones were exempt because they broadcast the February 25, 2003, episode at 10 p.m. local time.
ABC said in a statement that it had broadcast the episode and others from the cop drama, which ran from 1993 to 2005, with appropriate parental warnings and with V-chip enabled program ratings when they were available.
The network added that the show had been on the air for nearly a decade when the episode in question aired "and the realistic nature of its storylines was well known to the viewing public."
Media scrutiny over the marriage of Ashley and Cheryl Cole continued amid further allegations of infidelity on the part of the Chelsea and England footballer.
The Sunday Mirror claimed Cole cheated on his pop star wife with a second woman - glamour model Brooke Healy - following an earlier claim by 22-year-old Aimee Walton that he had indulged in a boozy romp with her.
But in an interview with the News of the World, the Girls Aloud star dismissed allegations that her husband had sex with Miss Walton, adding that she would not let the woman "destroy her marriage".
News of the alleged tryst between Cole and Miss Walton was revealed on Friday.
The 22-year-old hairdresser claims that on December 8 after a heavy drinking session, Ashley Cole had sex with her, breaking off the love-making only to be sick.
In the News of the World interview, the singer said: "That's utter rubbish. I know that for a fact. I know Ashley intimately. When he is under the influence he isn't capable."
She admitted to rowing with her husband over the drunken encounter following which Cole told her that he was too drunk to remember what happened.
But she denied that she kicked her husband out after the news broke, as some newspapers have reported.
A separate report in the Sunday Mirror suggests that England player Cole may have more explaining to do to his wife. It claims that Ashley Cole had sex with 23-year-old Miss Healy in December 2006 - just five months after his wedding.
The newspaper printed allegations that Ms Healy was then paid £6,000 to keep quiet over the encounter.
Brazilian model Angela Bismarchi will dance nearly nude ahead of a 300-person drum corps in next month's Carnival parade, hoping her sculpted beauty as a "percussion queen" will lead her samba group to the championship.
But she has another goal in mind as well.
In preparation for Rio's five-day Carnival blowout in February, she's having her 42nd plastic surgery — closing in on the Guinness World Record of 47 surgical procedures held by 52-year-old American Cindy Jackson, who calls herself a "Living Doll" and now promotes her own skincare line.
"I always was vain," Bismarchi, 36, acknowledges at the medical clinic near Rio where her plastic surgeon husband has operated on her 10 times. "And for carnival, you have to feel especially pretty."
Just days before Brazil's Feb. 2-6 carnival begins, Bismarchi will have nylon wires implanted in her eyes to give them an Asian slant, in line with this year's theme of her samba group, Porto da Pedra: the centennial of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
Bismarchi's unabashed passion for plastic surgery has made her a celebrity in this image-mad country, where even the poor get surgical enhancements on the installment plan. Brazilians see no shame in touching up their bodies, which are routinely exposed at carnival and flaunted on the beach in thong bikinis so tiny they're called "dental floss."
Born poor in Rio, Bismarchi had her first cosmetic surgery in 1992 after her daughter was born. She was just 21, but said she was depressed after nursing caused her breasts to sag. So she had them lifted, adored the results, and became so fascinated with cosmetic surgery that her next two husbands were plastic surgeons.
"I put in a prosthesis and loved it. I was beautiful and sensual again," Bismarchi said, a striking figure at 6 feet — taller in white high heels — with long blond hair flowing over her white minidress.
Carnival has a special place in Bismarchi's career.
She first made headlines in 2000, when police tried to arrest her after she paraded partly nude with the Brazilian flag painted on her body.
"I became famous all over," she said. "The power of carnival is amazing."
Two years later, she paraded with the face of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva painted across her exposed body. Police released her after she explained it was a gesture to Silva's anti-hunger program.
A wardrobe malfunction at last year's carnival put Bismarchi back in the news — when her G-string broke and dangled from her waist, Porto da Pedra was threatened with a penalty for total nudity, forbidden under parade rules. But the resourceful Bismarchi hid from the judges behind the drum section, changed her tiny "sex cover" and finished the parade.
Today, Bismarchi promotes an exclusive line of sexy lingerie, gives beauty tips and responds to the 500 to 700 letters and e-mails she receives each day. To care for her famous figure, she does two and a half hours of exercise daily, takes dance lessons and spends hours tanning on the beach.
"I consider myself quite timid. I'm just a little girl grown big," she said. "I never imagined I would be famous. Things just happened."
The Disney big hit High School Musical is being turned into a London stage show, it has been announced.
The musical will be the latest new outing for the record-breaking global phenomenon, which first appeared as a children's TV film two years ago.
The production will differ from the 31-date UK tour, which has its official opening on Monday night in Bromley, Kent, and is expected to be seen by 600,000 people.
The London production will open with a 10-week season at the Hammersmith Apollo in June, with actors yet to be cast.
It will be the latest Disney show in London following Mary Poppins, and The Lion King.
The announcement comes as the box office opens for the High School Musical UK tour, following £9 million worth of advance sales.
Around 200 million people have seen the original film since it was first broadcast in 2006 in the US followed by the UK.
The movie won two Emmy Awards and the soundtrack became the world's Number One album.
Unlike the first two High School Musicals that were broadcast on TV, High School Musical 3 opens in cinemas later this year.
The story follows teenage couple Troy and Gabriella, played by actors Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, who face a possible split as they head off to different colleges.
Last night, TNT and TBS simultaneously broadcast the SAG Awards, the only awards show that celebrities actually showed up to this season, due to the ongoing WGA strike. Zac Efron was the only High School Musical star to be invited but for good reason. The 20-year-old actor was nominated as part of the Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture for his portrayal of Link Larkin in Hairspray. Though he ended up going home empty handed, Efron was a presenter at the ceremony with Debra Messing. The two awarded Edie Falco for her outstanding performance in the HBO series, The Sopranos. E! News caught up with Efron on the red carpet before the event, where he spoke about his favorite movie of the year, his career, and what keeps him grounded.
With all the published reports of young celebrities getting themselves into trouble, E! News reporter Giuliana Rancic wonders how Efron manages to stay out of trouble. Easy, he says. "Lately, I’ve been working a lot so I don’t really go anywhere. I just stay in and practice my scenes for the next day," he admits. Despite his wild popularity, Efron has managed to stay grounded, visiting home any chance he gets. "If I have three consecutive days off, at all, I drive to San Luis Obispo to hang out with my mom, dad, and brother and see some friends," he said.
While some actors try to shed their teen pop idol image as they mature, Efron is nothing but grateful for the success that High School Musical has brought him. “I have so much fun doing what I do. I’m really blessed," he told E! News. "There’s really very little in Hollywood that separates me from a lot of other guys who look just like me. I thank God for High School Musical and how many doors it’s opened. It’s been incredible.”
No Country For Old Men was the film that really got Efron’s attention this year and the guy has good taste. Actor Javier Bardem won last night for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Supporting Role and the cast was honored for the outstanding performance in the movie as well.
George Clooney is reportedly moving out of his house because of Britney Spears.
Clooney revealed that he realised the pop star lived so close only when he heard the helicopters over her house on the day she was taken to hospital earlier this month.
He said, “I just found out 10 days ago I must live within 300 yards from Britney Spears. I came home at 10 at night and there was all these helicopters over my house with
these lights. I think, ‘Someone’s broken out of prison...’ I get my baseball bat, which is what you always get in every film, and I call up my assistant, who I thought was in my guest house. So now I have to move.
Kristen Haglund, the blonde beauty from Farmington Hills, Michigan, was crowned Miss America 2008 after weeks of grueling competition. But Kristen Haglund, 19, wasn't the favorite going into last night's competition - that would be Jill Stevens, who couldn't seem to make it past the final 16 contestants.
While Stevens was shockingly eliminated fairly early on in the competition, Kristen won over the judges with her unique charm and sophistication, ultimately taking the crown away from the 50 other beauties vying for the coveted title.
Kristen swayed the judges when she indicated the lack of awareness for eating disorders in young women.
But being poised, polite and well-spoken isn't as difficult for Haglund as it may be for some of the other contestants - being a beauty queen is in her blood. Kristen's grandmother, Iora Hunt, was also crowned Miss Michigan in the 1944 pageant, but never managed to win Miss America.
America got to know Kristen and the other girls during their four-week reality special on TLC.
And while Jill Stevens was clearly the favorite going into the competition, there's no doubt that Kristen is a deserving winner.
Congratulations to Kristen, let's hope she wears the crown with honor.
A brand of condoms named after football ace David Beckham has taken the Chinese contraceptive market under its sway.
Although the Beckham contraceptive is not being endorsed by the former England captain himself, its makers claim that the users will score in the bedroom like David does on the pitch.
This brand now sells more than any other brand in the country.
Chinese fans of the LA Galaxy soccer star, however, want the marketing of these condoms banned.
We do not want Beckham to think the Chinese people are disrespecting him. We love him here, the Sun quoted one as saying.
Beckhams agent Simon Oliveira said: Its not an official brand.
Football star David Beckham has denied reports that he will be singing a song with US rapper Snoop Dogg.
eckham, who now plays for Los Angeles Galaxy, was supposedly collaborating with Dogg after Beckham appeared on his reality TV show called Father Hood. However, the footballer clarified that he would not be singing with Dogg, contactmusic.com reported.
"No truth in that one," said a spokesperson for Beckham.
Joss Stone has hit out at the British media for constantly mocking her fake American accent.
The 20-year-old Brit worked in the US recently and was made fun of in the press after she was on stage at the 2007 Brit Awards with a new hairstyle and an American accent.
Stone insisted that she would not be upset if her U.K. fans boycott her music.
"At the end of the day, I don't give a f**k if people have a problem with my accent. That's all I can say about it. The words I say do not change," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
"If the way that it sounds is skew-whiff and you don't like it, don't listen. I'm not being a cruel person by sounding a different way.
"I made my album with a bunch of Americans. When people go to Australia for two weeks they come back sounding Australian - but the whole world doesn't turn round and say, 'Well, f**k you.' Which is basically what England had done.
"Obviously not everybody in England. But the big press people. They were just like, 'you know what? We've decided we don't like you anymore,'" she added.
Fashion designer and musician are latest evictees
Best pals Jay Wilson and Calista Robertson became the latest housemates to be evicted from Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack last night.
The fashion designer, 19, received 30 per cent of the public vote.
And 25 per cent of viewers wanted the 19-year-old classical musician out.
On hearing the news, Jay acted cool, before hugging his best friend in the house, Calista.
'That's life guys,' he said. 'I'll be fine.'
The pair received a positive reception from the crowd.
There are now 6 housemates left.

The one question on the minds of Heath Ledger's family as they flew in to New York to collect the 28-year-old Australian actor's body this weekend was: "Why"? Five days after the Oscar-nominated Brokeback Mountain star was found dead in his Manhattan apartment, they and his bereft fans are still no nearer knowing the cause of a death that has rocked the film world.
Hollywood greats have queued up to pay tribute to Ledger, along with the Australian Prime Minister and, most poignantly, his family. From Cate Blanchett to Ang Lee, Nicole Kidman to John Travolta, the collective outpourings of grief make heartbreaking reading.
Lee, who directed Brokeback Mountain, said working with the actor was "one of the purest joys of my life", while the actor's father, Kim, lamented his "tragic" and "accidental" death and the fact that the pair would play no more chess games together. The family will bury him in his hometown of Perth and plan to hold a memorial service in Los Angeles.
Although US authorities suspect a drug overdose, an autopsy last Wednesday proved inconclusive, leaving his family on tenterhooks about the findings of toxicology and tissue tests, which are not expected until the end of this week at the earliest. The fact that the body was discovered by his masseuse, who opted to first call Mary-Kate Olsen – the actress thought to have been dating Ledger since his split last September from his partner Michelle Williams – and not the emergency services, has fuelled speculation. Revelations that the masseuse, Diana Wolozin, initially lied to the police, telling them she called Olsen twice when phone records show she rang the actress four times have deepened the mystery.
A rolled-up $20 bill was found by his bed, as were a selection of sleeping pills and prescription drugs, including antidepressants, but no illegal substances. There was no suicide note.
Ledger leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, whom he "loved dearly", according her grandfather, Larry Williams. He also bequeaths to Tinseltown logistical and promotional nightmares for the producers of his most recent projects. To director Terry Gilliam, Ledger leaves a film just one-third of the way into shooting. And to Warner Bros, behind the latest Batman instalment The Dark Knight, in which Ledger plays the Joker, the actor's death poses vast marketing problems – how to advertise one of this summer's biggest releases without appearing to be cashing in on the tragedy.
For Gilliam, his $30m Faustian fantasy The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was to play heavily on Ledger's star power, which according to reports helped Gilliam to raise the funding. Shooting has been shut down while producers work out what to do. Flops, troubled shoots and pulled projects earned Gilliam the nickname "Captain Chaos", provoking this lament three years ago: "I know there is a God and he hates me."
Ledger's sudden death must have left his family feeling much the same way.
Lindsay Lohan and reality TV heartbreaker Brody Jenner have been tying to keep their budding romance a secret by dashing separately from club to club.
The hard-partying pair were apparently spotted getting cosy at Beatrice Inn, New York, with one onlooker saying they were “all over each other”.
But when they left the celebrity hotspot they dashed to another A-list hang-out, The Box, and gave waiting paparazzi the slip.
According to US reports, the Hollywood starlet and her apparent new squeeze then lingered at the club until about 3.30am.
“She likes him. It’s early, but they are more than friends,” a source told one magazine.
“He seems to like her back. They’re actually sweet together, it would be nice if she kept him around.”
The rumours are likely to throw a spanner in the works for ladies’ man Jenner’s new relationship with stunning model Cora Skinner.
The Hills star - who’s previously dated a string of Hollywood hotties including Nicole Richie - has recently gushed about how she’d “met the parents” and declared “she’s part of the family”.
Tara Reid has slammed fellow party girls Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan for their incarcerations last year, insisting the pair “deserved it”.
The actress is angry she has been lumped in with the pair - despite her similarly notorious love of ‘partying’ never attracting the attention of the police.
She says, “What have I ever really done? Dance on a table? When Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton got their DUIs, they got punished, they deserved it.
"But my punishment, I don't feel like it fits the crime. I don't understand why people punish others for being happy."
Are Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens too young to get married? Many fans already have the pair together for life and while that may be the eventual result don't expect wedding bells for Zanessa anytime soon. "I'm way too young," says the star who admitted to Tyra Banks that she "freaked out" when she met celeb crush Matt Damon.
And forget kids. “Right now, I do not like kids at all,” she tells Us Weekly magazine in this week's issue. “I love my fans and everything, but when you have little kids following you around all day, it like ‘Oh God, kids!’ Maybe when I get older that will change.” As far as Efron’s recent hospitalization for appendicitis, “He’s doing good,” says Hudgens.
Vanessa admits that even though she made $2 million last year, thanks to the Disney juggernaut High School Musical, she just wants to be normal. "I miss being able to walk around in sweats 24/7," the much photographed star tells Us. “You don’t want to get caught wearing a nasty old shirt!”
Us has all of the young stars in a feature this week and notes that the fresh-faced singer-actress is excited to be a part of the latest crop of starlets (including BFF Ashley Tisdale) to take over. “It’s time for a new generation,” the California native, currently in the market for her first house, says. “To be part of that is really cool.”
Stone Temple Pilots are gearing up for a reunion this summer when they will reportedly return to the live circuit.
According to Scott Weiland’s Velvet Revolver bandmate Slash, the band will get together this summer for a few shows, but no further details have been revealed.
Scott Weiland earlier this week reportedly told the Miami Herald that a reunion is on the cards in the coming months. Stone Temple Pilots split in 2002.
Meanwhile, Velvet Revolver continue to tour their second album ‘Libertad’ and Slash tells Billboard.com that they may begin recording their third studio album this spring.
It’s not the birth of her baby that Jessica Alba is worried about, but as it turns out, the nursing.
In a recent interview, the pregnant star said that she’s been having baby dreams and is paranoid about breastfeeding.
"[One dream] had to do with breastfeeding, which is the only thing I'm paranoid about. More than giving birth," People quoted her, as telling Extra.
The 26-year-old said that since becoming pregnant she has been feeling "a lot more emotions. Anything could make me incredibly angry or break down crying. That's not something I'm used to."
When asked as to how the svelte star, who is engaged to boyfriend Cash Warren, was dealing with a few added pregnancy pounds, she said she is maintaining a healthy diet and exercising.
"I try to eat as healthy as possible... [and] exercise. As long as I don't gain too much, too fast, that's the key," she said.
Big Brother producers have insisted that a "scripting error" in last night's eviction show did not affect the outcome of the vote.
Host Dermot O'Leary caused confusion by incorrectly stating, on two separate occasions, that the two housemates with the least votes would be evicted. In fact, there was no change to the usual format and viewers were expected to call up to boot out their least favourite contestants.
Jay and Calista were the housemates chosen to be evicted, leaving Amy, Anthony, Emilia, Jeremy, John and Nathan to face Monday's final.
A statement on the official Big Brother site explained: "Due to a scripting error in last night's eviction show, Dermot mentioned on two occasions that the two people with the least amount of votes would be evicted, when in fact it was a vote to evict.
"However, at all other times throughout the show, the vote was communicated correctly as a vote to evict. Furthermore, before every phone number was given out, Dermot said "To evict X, call..." and the graphic clearly stated "To Evict".
"The position of the two housemates who were evicted in last night's vote (Calista and Jay) did not change while the programme was being broadcast."
Police released information that Heath Ledger's masseuse tried calling Mary-Kate Olsen three times, wasting 9 minutes, before she called the cops. Obviously this is stirring up a lot of rumors. Out of all the people in the world. Why would you call the "Grim Reaper"? Not saying that she is the prince of death, but there is a strong resemblance if you compare using the picture above the the reaper himself.
After the paramedics arrive, she called Mary-Kate a forth time.
The police said that the cause of death will not be know until the toxicology exams come back, and will be at least a week. They found several prescriptions medicines in his Manhattan apartment, but no evidence of suicide or foul play.
So what happened then? 28 year old healthy men don't normally die while they are sound asleep because of natural causes.
If anyone knows anything until the toxicology tests come back, it would be Mary-Kate Olsen. For some reason, however, the police stated on Friday, that they are not going to be questioning her. Does that make sense to anyone?
I understand that they do not expect foul play, and they don't expect Mary-Kate Olsen to be a suspect or anything, but couldn't she help them with the case. If anything she looks like she is a drug dealer now. Maybe someone could explain this to me, as to why she isn't being questioned. If his masseuse was calling me, I think we could agree that the police would be knocking down my door.
I don't mean to be insensitive, but if he was really close to that Olsen girl, there is a good chance he was closer to the prescription medication than we all expect. I'm afraid to be right though. He was a very admirable father to his little girl, and it would be a shame to see his memory tarnished.
Ever get the feeling somebody is making a whole lot of money off Britney Spears besides Britney Spears?
Portfolio magazine estimates the annual value of Britney Spears to the U.S. economy is 110- to 120-million dollars -- and that's when she isn't even touring.
Portfolio estimates record companies, promoters and licensers make 30- to 40-million dollars because of endorsements, record sales and other business.
It estimates the paparazzi make 4 million dollars from selling photos of the Kentwood native. Celebrity tabloids, web traffic and other media make an estimated 75 million dollars off her in a year. A celebrity tabloid can sell as many as 33 percent more copies if Spears is on the cover.
Her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, pulls in a million dollars a year because of her, and not just the $35,000 a month from spousal and child-support payments. K-Fed reportedly gets $30,000 from nightclubs just to show up.
The wife of Britney Spears' British paparazzi pal, Adnan Ghalib, has filed for a legal separation.
Azlynn Berry cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split after four years of marriage, according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Ms Berry, representing herself in court papers, seeks spousal support, and for Mr Ghalib to pay her legal fees, the filing says.
In recent weeks, Mr Ghalib has been seen accompanying troubled Spears on shopping excursions, restaurant outings and to court. Mr Ghalib is said to work for the photo agency FinalPixx.
Mr Ghalib told the syndicated television magazine The Insider on Tuesday that he had photographed Spears for several years before they grew closer in late December.
He said their relationship blossomed after the pop star was released from a hospital following a stand-off in her home when she refused to return her children to ex-husband Kevin Federline's bodyguard.
"We managed to spend a long time together, away from the media," Mr Ghalib said.
In another interview with Entertainment Tonight, Mr Ghalib denied accusations that he was profiting from the relationship.
"A lot of people perceive to know or understand her, she's the most photographed woman in the world," he said.
"But if you take time to scratch the surface, then you can understand how amazing she is."
Jamie Lynn Spears has agreed to give up her unborn baby, it has been claimed.
The 16-year-old star of Nickelodeon show 'Zoey 101' will reportedly give the child to her mother Lynne as soon as it is born, so she can focus on her career.
A source told America's Star magazine: "After several weeks of personal soul searching and talks and discussions with her mom, Jamie Lynn reluctantly agreed that giving up the baby is the right thing to do.
"Lynne says Jamie doesn't understand the lifelong consequences of having a baby. She wants Jamie Lynn to continue her show business career after the baby is born and Jamie Lynn also realises she wants to enjoy her teenage years without the responsibilities of caring for a baby.
"Jamie Lynn will be back at work and trying to remind people of her talent and not that she is an unwed teenage mother."
Lynne will raise the baby at the family home in Kentwood, Louisiana, away from the Hollywood spotlight.
Since Jamie Lynn announced her pregnancy she has been living at the family's $3 million estate while studying for a high school equivalency exam and attending parenting classes. But it is believed once she gives birth she will return to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.
Eva Mendes has poked fun at Will Smith's action hero status by revealing that he can't handle his booze.
Mendes, who starred alongside the Hollywood superstar in 'Hitch', was left amused by how quickly lightweight Smith got drunk.
She says: "Will literally takes three sips and he's buzzed. It's not even like three sips of whiskey; it's literally a pina colada or a daquiri - he loves girly drinks - and he's down."
Jessica Simpson is not happy about reports that she and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo have not broken up and she’s suing.
Simpson’s attorneys at Rosenberg & Giger sent a legal demand notice to the editor-in-chief of OK! magazine accusing the tabloid of printing a “defamatory and gratuitously mean-spirited article.”
The article entitled “Jessica Dumped” refers to Simpson and Romo’s supposed breakup. The article goes on to say that Ashlee Simpson is
trying to “distance herself” from her sister.
In the letter Simpson’s layers say the article is “utterly false, it is based on nothing more than rumor, gossip and innuendo spread by supposed, albeit unnamed, ‘sources’ who, even if they actually exist, obviously lack sufficient confidence in their accusations to risk public attribution.”
The lawyers say in writing:
(1) Mr. Romo and Ms. Simpson have not broken off their romantic relationship; and (2) Ashlee Simpson had made no effort to “distance herself” from her sister, Jesssica, with whom she remains extremely close.
The letter also demands that “OK! immediately publish a prominent and unambiguous retraction of the Article and that it cease and desist from publishing any further false and misleading attacks.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse was admitted to rehab again last night in a bid to beat her drug addiction.
Her record label, Universal, said the move was by mutual agreement after talks between Winehouse, her management, family and doctors.
'She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction,' a statement from the label said.
'She has now been given complete freedom to take as long as she needs to get better.
'Universal wants nothing more than to see her take the time she needs to come back to full health and fulfil her incredible potential,' the label added.
The announcement comes days after the Back To Black star was caught on video apparently smoking crack cocaine. It marked a new low for the 24-year-old, who is also battling addiction to heroin.
Earlier on Thursday her father, Mitch Winehouse, said the family had considered having her sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
But the authorities said it was not possible because the singer was not a danger to herself.
'You might consider taking drugs is a danger to herself, but unfortunately the authorities don't,' he said.
Winehouse still plans to attend the Grammy Awards on February 10, for which she has notched up six nominations. This is not the first time Winehouse has entered rehab, having made three failed visits in the past year.
Dancing on Ice has lost it's third celebrity skater today. TV presenter Michael Underwood has been forced to pull out of the competition.
The GMTV star was rehearsing last night when he twisted his ankle.
At first Michael thought it was just a sprain but an x-ray showed that his foot was broken.
Michael revealed all on GMTV this morning: "I'd like to say that I was attempting some amazing triple axel or something, but I was just trying to stop!"
A spokesperson for Dancing on Ice has said: "After breaking his ankle last night, Michael Underwood can no longer compete in Dancing on Ice. The whole team are sad to see Michael leave the competition in this way and wish him a speedy recovery."
A property belonging to Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas has become the latest to be threatened with demolition in a clampdown on illegal building by Spanish authorities.
The actor, famous for his role as masked crusader Zorro, has been given eight weeks to tear down part of the £5m beachfront holiday home that he shares with his American wife, the actress Melanie Griffith.
A court in Malaga has said that a 300 square foot wing of the six-bedroom mansion near Marbella on the Costa del Sol was built by the previous owner without the proper licence.
The edge of the walled property, named La Gaviota or The Seagull, extends onto a sandy beach in the exclusive residential area of Los Monteros, a ten-minute drive from Marbella town centre.
Neighbours have long argued that Banderas, who bought the property 11 years ago, is the victim of corrupt town hall officials who issued planning permission after illegally reclassifying green belt land in return for backhanders.
Hundreds of homeowners across the region, including many British expatriates, bought their homes in good faith and now risk losing their houses under plans by Spain's socialist government to target illegal properties.
Earlier this month Len and Helen Prior, a retired British couple, were among the first to have their home demolished after the regional government revoked the building licence issued by their town hall in Vera on the Costa Almeria.
CBS 2 Chicago news anchor Randy Salerno was killed Thursday night in a snowmobiling accident. Eagle River, Wisconsin police say they received a call about the fatal accident around 11:30 p.m. last night.
Salerno, 45, was snowmobiling with friends. He was apparently riding as a passenger on one of the vehicles when the driver lost control and hit several trees. Authorities say alcohol was a factor in the accident.
“Alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in the crash,” said the Vilas County police department in a statement.
Police did not identify Salerno or the driver, but the news station reported Salerno’s death on their website. The driver of the snowmobile suffered injuries.
Salerno was an anchor with Roseanne Tellez for the morning news from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and news at 11 a.m. He began working for channel two news Chicago in September 2004. Prior to that, he worked at WGN channel 9.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, and their 3 children.
